Normally ugin or o-stone - karn will generally not be enough to save the game as RG tron is far behind with all hands but turn 3 karn/wurmcoil. That being said, I have named karn when the board position is appropriate.

True. I thought about adding him to the side for some combo disruption, but replaced him with 2x Thalia. My reason for not liking him is you have to protect a card that prevents a card which may never be drawn into from being played. Sure, he's a rod in a deck that needs it, but I figured him more for an Esper build (discard to give you info). If he works in this shell I'll have to give him a try tho.
@Saintvallen I would highly recommend you to try the 4 color version with red and wild nacatls, the deck gains a lot for the beatdown plan and loses very little. Both Wild Nacatl and Lightning Bolt are really cheap to get so you should definitely buy them and try them out.

I've been on the 4c ZooFall list for a tendays. I like the deck, but unfo Im really not convinced if the blue splash, and hence, the combo, is necessary at all. Out of maybe 30 games I've played, I'd say I comboed out maybe twice. And drew a semi-dead Retreat to Coralhelm way more times, even if Im running as few as two. So, from a competitive standpoint, Im thinking cutting Retreat and Geist and going Naya Zoo with Collected Company may just be more consistent. Now, by all means I like the idea of Knightfall, and that's why even though I have that feeling, Geist and Retreat are still in. So I encourage you test it, and report back if you share my feeling.

I watched it, I think you're right about abzan company and knightfall not being a great fit. Abzan company and knightfall both suffer from graveyard hate, and putting both together seems to increase that vulnerability without much gain.

I decided I wanted to play an Abzan midrange deck, but being too cheap to get goyfs and lilianas (and everyone saying not having them makes the deck unplayable) I've decided to just have some fun and jam the Knightfall combo into an Abzan midrange list instead of the goyfs and lilianas.
I'm definitely winning more than I'm losing but I've only been playing in Tournament Practice on MTGO so I don't know how much that matters.
It's surprising how many games you just kill your opponent out of nowhere, and you can usually outvalue your opponent in grindy games much like a real abzan midrange deck can.
The retreat to coralhelms obvious aren't great if you don't have a knight, but getting a double scry every time you draw a fetch land (or the potential to tap an attacker/blocker) is actually pretty sweet.
The deck is a little overloaded with 3 drops and underloaded with 2 drops, so I'm running some anticipates to help search for the combo pieces and give you something to do on turn 2 if you don't have a dark confidant, scavenging ooze, or abrupt decay target.
The mana is pretty sketchy (maybe somebody else knows how to build manabases better), but the goal is to get a Godless Shrine and a Breeding Pool and then you can cast the green-white and the green-black spells (and geist if you boarded them in).
I haven't run into any blood moon decks yet (probably really bad for me), but in matches where I can't afford to have as sketchy mana I usually have enough stuff in my sideboard to bring in to just cut all of the blue cards from the deck.
This is what I'm thinking of playing:
8 dork and 8 exalted.
Exalted makes courser of kruphix capable of attacking too and courser helps reduce the life loss from all the fetches/shocklands.
I ran 3 swords (Fire and Ice, Feast and Famine, Body and Mind) in my sideboard last week. Against those decks without cheap removal, they were very strong. Putting one out turn 2 and then beating down with a mana dork puts you way ahead. And god forbid you put one on Geist of Saint Traft...
While they may be "more fun than good", I think they deserve consideration for those matchups that are otherwise hard to interact within, such as Scapeshift and control matchups. Forcing discard, drawing extra cards, and making any single mana dork a significant threat is great.
Coursers are fine cards, but you can't short cut the combo with them out. Which is a pain when playing in paper. In general people have found them not really needed.
Aren't you taking a little bit too much pain from your thoughtseizes, bobs, and lands?
Yes probably, but moreso the lands than anything else. You can gain some life from rhino and you can board all the thoughtseizes out against aggressive decks. I often combo people out when really low on life (which is still possible as long as they are hurt/you already have enough fetches in your graveyard). In my testing so far if Dark Confidant is actually losing you life then you usually have enough cards to not die, and he often just wastes a removal spell that they would use to kill your bigger/combo creatures or burn you out.
I want to hear your expert opinions about something:
I am currently playing the 4cZoo version of the deck and I feel comfortable with it, but sometimes is hard to have wild nacatl be a 3/3, and the mana base in general is pretty painfull, so I want to try something new.
You would pretty much always play Courser, drop a land and then scry a nonland to the top with Retreat (if possible) to have a good shot at playing a land of the top next turn, essentially "drawing" extra cards and gaining life in the process.
I'm running a tarmo-twin esque version and I have a play set of Coursers in the board for grindier match ups, and they go nuts with retreat on the board. I've found that it's a little bit too passive to main deck but it's amazing in some matchups.
Planning on running this at MNM tonight. Going the beatdown route with CoCo and friends. * = cards I'm borrowing. I know there are at least two affinity players which is why I've got 4 dedicated SB slots. Played last week and a few people didn't know Steppe was a card, so I want to try that out. Also Want to make room for Scooze but don't know where. Any suggestions on the above or anything else would be great.
So it looks like 4 "Four-Color Company" which I can only imagine s Zoo/Knightfall, 2 "Bant Coralhelm", 1 "Coralhelm Company" made day 2 at the GP. I really hope decklists get posted and we can see some, but I have a feeling we aren't going to see that far down the standings.
On another note, I'm looking to update the primer in the next few weeks again and be able to say it is 100% finished.
Just finished some testing. LGS said that 7 players wasn't enough to have a proper tourney, after one of the players pulled out coz player 8 was 10 mins late -.-.
Played against Grixis Prowess, running Abbot and Swiftspear in place of twin, basically. Discard, removal, snappy, lilli. It was really one sided. We played 3 games pre-board and 5+ post board and I won them all pretty convincingly. Twice via combo.
Also tested against Ad Nauseum. It was brutal in the other direction. Only played 2 matches though, (2-1, 2-1). Even with T1 Noble into T2 Geist and T3 Coco he was able to Angel's Grace and Phyrexian Unlife until the combo was assembled. Any thoughts on this matchup? Probably not common enough to warrant dedicated SB slots, but splash hate would be OK.
MVPs were Voice, Thalia (might move to 3 SB) and the combo. Here's the list I played.
