This is the Sultai build I've run out a handful of times at FNM. Its more of a BG deck splashing blue for Snapcaster, tar pit, and SB cards. I've found that being able to flashback a discard spell turn 3 is quite powerful, along with getting multiple uses out of removal spells. The one of Search for Azcanta is something I'm going to try out soon, but there might not be enough spells in the deck to support it. Scarab god in the board could also be anything else.
A lot of people have mentioned going more down the blue route for Ancestral and MD counters, but I'm really not interested in going that way. I could see maybe trying out Chart a Course for some card advantage and I'd cut Bob if I was going that way. I've found Tracker to be super strong, especially in multiples and can outclass Tasigur in a few turns.
This is a hybrid between control (counter magic and card advantage) and midrange (discard and efficient creatures) but it feels absolutely perfect. I have a bad matchup with burn (unless I find a collective or two) and please don't even mention TRON (blue is the worst), but EldraTRON, death's shadow, UR gifts, Company decks, Abzan/Jund are all good matchups since the removal and permission suite is so good right now. Add some T2 Goyfs and T3 Tasigurs ans we have a winning combination. The new Nissa also does some good work with the scry effects and killing easily from a stalled board state.
This a very standard ans reliable GBx list that seems to only splash blue for snapcaster, serum and the new Nissa. Has anyone else been putting in reps with a BUG list recently?

I really like your list! I have to ask; does having Tasigur and Traverse the Ulvenwald ever get awkward? I know delirium can sometimes cause some issues with Delve creatures, so I'd like to hear what your experience has been with these creatures.
The deck revolves around looping Cryptic Commands with by vialing in Eternal Witnesses to tap the opponent's team and bounce the E Witness. Todd went 4-1 with it (sorry, there are no spoiler tags on this subreddit). The deck requires a bit of setup, but I thought it'd be worth sharing/discussing.
Has anyone tried out Gerard Fabiano's latest list that he top 8'd the Star City Inviational Qualifier (Danbury) with? List is solid. Put it together and was very impressed with the consistency and ability to grind.

Is it possible a draw go style of this deck? Anyone working on it? Maybe some mystical teachings list
The inclusion of green largely forces you to play at sorcery speed, particularly while deploying your threats. It doesn't mean you can't run some counter magic, but there not a whole lotta flash in green worth running in modern.

I just recently built the revised version, but I haven't gotten to jam a ton of games in with it yet (just a couple against Eldrazi and Taxes, which I've been satisfied with against). I do concur with its ability to grind, though.

Hey, actually I quickly revised the list since as you mentionned, Traverse and Delve just don't work well together. I've updated my more usual list and finally converged to a main 60 cards that I'll lock in for a while. I traded Tragtusk for a Kalitas which is just strictly better. I also added 2 countersqualls instead of 1 mana leak and 1 Logic Knot. Countersquall just hits so many things but most importantly Fatal Push. Keeping a Tarmogoyf on the board just feels great. I'm a little softer on creature counterspells but I feel that baving a Tarmogoyf on board and so much removal in the deck, I rather focus on non-creature spells. Plus the 2 dmg dealt every time it's cast (sometimes twice with snap) feels pretty good.
As for the sideboard, it feels very good right now and will most likely be doing some minor changes, but I'm a big fan of blowout cards in the side since this type of deck has a good game 1 against so many things. TRON will forever be a problem but that will never change.

I built the original one. I've gotten quite a few games in with it now. The main deck explosives is great. I do feel like it was missing something. Perhaps the Jace, AOT is what it needs. Ill try that out for sure.

Everyone's opinions on search for azcanta in this deck? I feel it is best suited in this shell in modern and I am very convinced it's going to be a presence in the meta.

Modern: UW, Jeskai, Grixis, Blue moon, Esper, Sultai, UB, UWish

I think that search for azcanta is just "another" blue card that grinds, but unfortunately isn't effective enough to get a spot in Sultai colors. Maybe a 1 of, but with Tasigur, Cryptic, Snap, ou plainswalkers, we have enough to grind with the best.
Speaking of grinding, I finally tuned my list to a comfortable 75 that is as consistent that I could make it :
I've been getting excellent results for the past month at my weekly events, always landing a >50% win ratio. I based my list of off Gerard's old 2015 Baltimore open list and upgrading with cards that are more useful for the current meta. I'm at the point where I'm looking for suggestions to better my synergies and optimize my card selection. Anyone have some constructive criticism and card suggestions?
Ok well this seems to be the most active Sultai thread and I didn't really know where else to post this list as it started off in the Abzan thread and I figured it was time to move somewhere else with it. I'm really hoping to get more feedback here than I did over there. It's more of a Sultai midrange deck though. I just wasn't sure where I'd get the most feed back.
My list started out a little different but I've been making some changes to it. Here is what I have right now:

My list started out a little different but I've been making some changes to it. Here is what I have right now:
1 - Tombstalker should be swapped out for a pair of Zombie Fish. They cost 1 less to cast which means it's more likely to be cast on T2 off of a thought scour (2x fetch + thought scour + 2 milled cards = 5 GY cards + 2 Lands = Zombie Fish or Tasigur but not enough for Tombstalker). Also, the extra mana paid to have a flyer instead of a ground creature is most likely not relevant since it should be trading with Reality Smasher or other Gurmag Angler
2 - Grapple with the past isn't an efficient card. With the type of deck you're building, you have access to better tools to do a smiliar job such as a 4th Thought Scour or Eternal Witness. If you try and hit delirium faster, you could even try ou a pair of Traverse the Ulvenwald which is a godlike topdeck and a great T1 "fetch a basic for T2".
3 - With 6 discard and only 2 Liliana of the Veil, I find that you lack that GBx feel that you seem to be looking for. If your goal is to empty the hand and cast some big cheap threats, I would add at least 1 other copy, probably removing a Liliana the last hope to make room for it. I know Gerard Fabiano did a 2-2 split on his latest Sultai list, but I think the 3-1 split is more effective in your shell.
4 - Snapcaster mage is an excellent card, but in your deck, he is mainly there to target discard and removal spells. By playing some blue, you have access to card draw/filter. I think Serum Vision would be a nice fit to your deck since you have a very "tap out" style with only removal and no permission spells except for Stubborn Denial. Maybe remove the Snapcaster mage and add some GB effects, or add in some Serum Vision or Opt to get a better card selection. Serum vision is a great topdeck to have later game as well, this should be taken into consideration since your deck is trying to wear down the opponent.
5 - Stubborn Denial requires you to have a large creature on board for it to work. Your deck has less of these creatures (since delirium will be hard to trigger, Grim Flayers are simple 2/2's) than a conventional Death's Shadow deck. Therefore, I think you should maybe rely more on a different type of permission such as Mana leak, Logic knot or Countersquall to protect your threats already in play or to help them resolve.
6 - Your 22 land count could be at 21 since you have some cantrips that count as 0.5 mana each. If you decide to descend to 21, I would recommend cutting your Creeping Tar Pit since tapped lands in the first 3 turns could be a very important loss of tempo for your curve. Plus, the fast that you are very "tap out" means that the opportunities to activate the Tar pit and attack will be reduced since you will likely be casting other spells.
7 - Why is The Scarab God in your sideboard and not in your main deck? This card is a perfect top deck and is definately the type of threat you would like to have in G1
8 - Grim Flayer and Tarmogoyf as 4-of's is pretty cool. Enabling early and fast clocks is a nice advantage that Abzan plays over Jund. It will be the reason why you stand a chance against TRON and Combo decks.
Overall you have included good cards, but the synergies seem to be lacking a little in the main deck. I can't comment on the mana base since I myself have issues tweaking mine.
Awesome feed back thank you. I am currently 11-0-1 with this deck. I made the decision to play Tombstalker over gurmag angler though. The 5/5 flying body has been more relevant than having to pay the extra mana. I like your idea of coming down to 21 lands however, with me wanting to cast multiple threats in a turn and with so many of my threats costing 2 mana I like to have my land count up to 22. As for the scarab god, I don’t feel like I need him in the main. He’s a good creature but there are matches where he’s just a bad beater. Grapple with the past is silently the best card in the deck. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a 2 mana tutor in this deck, plus it helps get delierium, and it’s instant speed so snapping it back at EOT and untapping with another spell to cast is great.
I’m not saying my card choices are perfect or anything but I really do appreciate your input. I have been thinking about cutting back on 1 grapple and going up to a 4th Thought Scour though.
Im liking the approach, so far. Dropping a bitterblossom or a tarmogoyf and hide behind counterspells and removals is, indeed, a good plan
Any thoughts on how to improve the deck?
Currently, Im looking to refine my draw engine... I like the Scry2 from condecend and serum visions, but Im looking forward for instant draw cards, much like think twice. Ancestral vision is too slow, most of the time.

Hey there, Faeries is a neat idea indeed. As for suggestions, I think the3 Remands don't belong since you aren't trying to protect a game winning play such as Blood Moon or Kiki-jiki. If you really want to hide behind counterspells, i would be looking for some cheap "hard" counters such as Countersquall or Spell snare. They will hit the spells you are looking to counter (All is dust, Damnation, terminate, PtE, Fatal Push, etc.) That way you are sure these removal spells will not come back next turn and trade vs your creatures/Enchantment.
I noticed that your deck has no way to remove large creatures such as Tasigur, Gurmag, Reality smasher and other troublesome permanents such as 4CMC plainswalkers. Maybe a Hero's downfall, Murderous cut or Maelstrom pulse could help you with that.
For the card draw engine, you have several options playing UB : Tasigur, Phyrexian Arena, Nissa Steward of Elements, Jace Arcitect of thought, Search for Azcanta and many more. Since your deck is more about having a permanent on board and protecting it, i would be more inclined to using thr cards I just stated instead of things like Compulsive Research or Glimmer of Genious. Just pick your poison and test them to see what fitd your deck best.
Personally I think one of the best card draw spells for Faeries is Chart a Course and/or Jace, Cunning Castaway. Those 2 cards do some great work when you draw those extra Bitterblossoms. It gives you a reasonable way to discard them, filters your draws (with Jace) and digs you deeper.
I think the new Jace is overwhelmingly underplayed in decks like this. You have evasive creatures that can connect with your opponent and its pretty easy to get to ultimate and start double triggering him. Not to mention that he does provide a blocker if needed.

Hi all,
I like the new Jace idea. Will test him soon, as well as Origin's Jace. But I am really looking for an instant speed draw engine. Gonna test Azcanta too.
On the big creatures removal, indeed this deck lacks removal G1, but Spellsturret sprite can counter those big things with a bitterblossom active. Gonna check other options.
Keep the ideas flowing, guys and thx

Hey, here's a couple comments I have for you :

If you try and hit delirium faster, you could even try ou a pair of Traverse the Ulvenwald which is a godlike topdeck and a great T1 "fetch a basic for T2".
3 - With 6 discard and only 2 Liliana of the Veil, I find that you lack that GBx feel that you seem to be looking for. If your goal is to empty the hand and cast some big cheap threats, I would add at least 1 other copy, probably removing a Liliana the last hope to make room for it.
