Mirran Crusader is probably awesome agains Jund/Junk but is really bad agains red in general. That's why I run them in the board.
One question I have is why the lack of lingering souls? That seems like a place your deck would like to be. Otherwise, I would switch the rats over to monastery mentor since mm fits with seeker so much better than the rats, and they occupy similar but competing slots. If you like the rats, I would find some way to fit in lingering souls, since that is still usable even when it becomes another rat.
What about removals?
I've seen some bg obliterator run Victim of the night...i've tried to think, and after all it's not a bad idea over dismember.
We have a consstent lifegain, but if we can avoid other loss it's not so bad...
Only vampire i remeber in modern is Olivia Voldaren and Jund it's not a thing right now...

Hello, i think you should test with tasigur, the golden fang, imho he could fit in this deck pretty well! i just tested it in faeries and seems a pretty good choice overall. Greetings!
Edit: lol paghus made me realize u dont play blue / green, sorry my bad
So, here's a question I have been pondering. Should we drop our mutavaults if we go with the mentor route? They just become vanilla 2/2s at that point. Maybe switch to a full set of Ted edges?
I went 2-0 in all matches except one. I lost 0-2 agains Merfolks where I kept some land light hands, got blown out by Spreading Seas and didn't draw any removal or sideboard cards in the last game.
The other matches were 8 Rack, Grixing Twin splashing for Thoughtseize, R/W Burn and R/G Tron.
Greetings, fellow Ozhovians! Recently-ex-BW-Tokens player here. BW Tokens was good to me in the Delver era, and I shall miss it terribly. But the recent bans have not been kind to a pure tokens-aggro strategy, and my local shop has exploded in a riot of wacky combos and Tier-2 stunt decks, chaotic and cacophonous. In turbulent times like these when you never know whether you'll be playing against Storm, Bogles, or Living End next, I retreat to the comforting ebony and ivory tower of grindy midrange control.
I'll be favoring the extreme control end of Deadguy, to a Fascist degree. When you can't possibly sideboard hate for everything, your next move is to simply hate cards, that's what I always say.
OK, carry on as before.
First question: Why do we still play Disenchant when we have Revoke Existence? Won't the latter do? Or is it just instant vs sorcery? Or do we want that card in the graveyard for a Surgical Extraction later?
I see a lot of lists here with 6 colorless lands, which when I have tried it in the past when playing three drops like lily and brimaz lead to a lot of mulligans and awkward hands, while I understand the power of it when it works I lost many games due to this, I generally just run 2-3 and usually just tech edges, though I have gotten away from rats but with confidant possibly playable again I think that makes rats more appealing again, however I have found much success running a bladsplicer, resoration angel package in my decks, helps affinity match up a lot, and is great in attrition match ups such as Junk. Finks also can help mitigate some of the life loss this deck does to itself. I have also found hero to be great finisher as well. just some ideas I have tried, also I generally either go 4 or 0 on Sculler, lately they have been great before the bannings. However if decks like affinity and Zoo bounce back in a big way these get much worse.
I can absolutely see the amount of colorless lands be a problem, but I don't really know what I would cut. I suppose it's possible going down to a 3/2 split between Mutavault and Tectonic Edge. Vault of the Archangel is super good at times but for me running two Sorin, Solemn Visitor main it's a bit redundant.

Adding blue and going esper midrange could give access to Tasigur (ability), in addition to manlands (Creeping Tarpit), Geist, Snapcaster, counters etc.
Played at a small 14 man event tonight with the list posted below. Ended up going 2-1, which is not amazing, but oh well. I'm really liking the list so far and it feels good to cast hand disruption again. I'm sure I'll be tweaking things a bit as the meta gets straightened out, but I highly recommend this list or, something similar to it.
I'd be interested in getting people's experiences with tide hollow lately. I used to run him, but didn't find myself missing it at all tonight.

I run full 4x of Scullers.
Are awsome because remove potental treath forcing opponent to path or bolt a simple 2/2 loosing answers for major therats.
Still if stay in play can beat hard with vault of archengel, sorin emlem (or +1 if you run the new one), or swords.
I love scullers and actually best hands i hades was T1 IoK or TS, T2 Sculler, T3 liliana...usually it's game!

I, too, am curious about how well Mana Tithe actually performs. I never got a set because I figure the application is too narrow. What with Mana Leak being basically useless after turn six or so, I've always been leery of taxing counters that tax for even less.

Hey guys, is anyone interested in taking over the primer? I've been dissatisfied with the state of modern for awhile, and I would like to drop out now, rather than go through the whole process of relearning a new meta.
As for the primer, it's in very good condition. Considering how little we grew in the TC days, the primer is pretty darn extensive. If you regularly follow the board, play the deck competitively, and have a good grasp of all the deck/card tagging tools, shoot me a PM.

I'm definitely going to try switching Pack Rat for Monastery Mentor when I do.

I did miss having Disenchant agains Merfolks and 8 Rack. Runed Halo was nice agains The Rack and Celestial Purge came in handy agains Liliana of the Veil and Shrieking Affliction. Purge was ok agains Twin and Burn too. But til next time I thing I will at least switch a Runed Halo for a Disenchant.
Sorin, Solemn Visitor was MVP.
EDIT: Oh, yeah. Mutavault was really good even without Pack Rat in play.
