I don't see much Amulet Titan or Titan Shift being played in my area. Most have been playing UW Control, Mono Red/Boros, Humans and Infect, a few fringe players are running Tron. But a lot of players left when they banned Hogaak and Ono, I guess if they can't play broken cards, they don't want to play at all.
I guess it is a loss of confidence + a general shift towards possibly pioneer? At that time anyways
[edit] oh and mox opal and faithless looting were banned too ... quite the slaughter
I actually thought that they should have banned FL and Hogaak when they banned Bridge and not banned Bridge. I can see why they banned Mox Opal, too many decks were relying on it, just like Faithless Looting was.
Doesn't quite make sense why Ponza/LD decks would drop off though.

I thought you meant the players who got their cards banned, hence I gave the reason I did.
If you meant ponza/LD players, yep agreed, not sure why they left, but the others who lost their decks, sure I can understand why they left.
Obosh, the Preypiercer could be a good companion for us. Most of our threats are odd cmc.. had to give up titan, but Stormbreath doing 8 with each swing would be intense.

upon asking at the rules section. Lightning bolt would deal 6 damage if Obosh is in play. I would certainly add some bolts for some reach and removal, then decide which creatures. My deck already used Glorybringer, so that's probably going to stay. Good thing Klothys, God of Destiny is also 3 cmc, I could keep her in as well. The only hard to thing to decide is if going to have an Obosh in the main or only one in the side?
After some playtesting a companion card with Ponza...
Limited testing because can only play with people in the house... still quarantined.
So far Obosh is good! This guy solves or at least partially solves the weakness of the deck of not drawing enough threats - because he himself is a threat that can be summoned out of nowhere, as long as I can pay 5 mana. Everyone is basically double power when he's around.. Klothy's do 4 direct damage to the opponent with her ability, molten rain is now a burn spell that can kill people, glorybringer do 8 damage if it hits - amazing. Now, if only my country would stop blocking USPS shipping, so that I could order a copy of Obosh instead of playing with proxy. Excited to play the real card. Now, I'm hoping more for terravore reprint.. because he fits into the strategy with 3 cmc.
Just got back into modern, and my current Ponza build is severely outdated.
I managed to find Gruul Obosh lists, but they drop the LD package and rely only on Blood Moon effects.
Given my inexperience with the meta, is this the way this deck is played now ?
As an indication, here's the list I have right now :
Now that things are starting to open up again, I thought I'd give it another try with this build. Any thoughts on moving things around? I know that Seasoned Pyromancer is in most builds, but I like the synergy of my deck without them.
We're one of the top three decks right now by numbers!!!
I really see Ponza as being well positioned, this will always be a deck that is more meta dependent than most, we are basically a Death and Taxes deck. We have our hatebears and meta specific hate.
One of the biggest shifts I feel had been the increase in ways to take advantage of Bloodbraid, where when she was first unbanned I didn't like the inclusion. It felt forced. The deck has now shifted to fit her as a core piece. The printing of Seasoned Pyromancer, Bonecrusher Giant, Wrenn and Six, and the Modernization of Pillage have brought consistency to our cascades.
Unfortunately with the pandemic I don't have much opportunity to play.
This seems like a very standard top list right now:

The latest MTGO RG Ponza lists actually do have Obosh as a Companion. Most of the MTGO RG Ponza lists lately have been creature-heavy, with Magus of the Moon as the main mana denial. The Obosh lists keep that tendency. The rest of their 5-cmc top ends have been anywhere from Glorybringer to Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast into Emrakul, the Aeons Torn to the Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker-Hyrax Tower Scout combo. I've been finding Hexdrinker to be a good top end in those builds, too.
