This list is like a hybrid of g devotion and ponza. It feels very much a "if I get to four mana, the game is over!" And speaking as a devotion player, that does not make a good game plan. However I would say that if you switch Crumble with Beast, then hunt master with either chandra or Rabblemaster, then do something about acidic slime and or dl atarka, you have a deck. But you can't argue with results. Or maybe you can.
With everyone on the fatal push plan, does that make Rabblemaster playable? I've seen it in a bunch of decks and it's just so good.
Between T2 Stone Rain or Rabblemaster, i choose Stone rain. It's much more devastating. The thing about ponza is that almost any threat is good enough since your game plan is to blow up their mana and stop them from being able to interact. The 3 drop slot is ideally for a card that blows up lands or blood moon. Not for an actual threat.
Usual sequence of play is:
T1: Arbor elf/Utopia Sprawl
T2: Stone rain/Blood moon
T3: Acid Moss/Chandra
T4: 6 mana threat
Rabblemaster messes up that sequence a bit. It's better in skred red than it is here, i think (even though Skred is a bad deck).
Its a list focused on early-mid interactions with some tradicional cards we know about and some modifications. The main changes:
Simian spirit guide - this card is broken. It gives us a lot of options and lines to play, allows us to LD even they disrupt our T1 ramp. Also can T2 Acid moss more consistently, and last (not least), a T2 Chandra which is pretty game. Nissa, vital force - another card I found very useful, can ramp, beat and 'draw'. And her ult is also good enough to force the opponent to interact with you Sweltering suns - is a card that I want to test over bonfire. I Usually don't like cards that can be useless in some matches, its ability to cycle, kill their beast tokens and none of my threats is enough for me Pia and Kiran Nalaar - while the PW are some of our threats, we want to protect them against flying creatures.
Let me know what you guys think, with the early interactions we have in the format I think thats the way to beat them!
So, I put Ponza down because of the inconsistancy and swinyness of the matchup. I know a planeswalker-centric game plan isn't going to cut out because of the proactive nature you need to be and creatures are more proactive than planeswalkers. However, I think it could be interesting to look at one. I probably might want to splash white for Ajani Vengeant at one point.
I would think as well Oath of Chandra might be good for early game interaction that would benefit our long term plan.
haha no. that... it's not gonna work. land d is what makes this deck. and you want to replace all of it with expensive planeswalkers?
ive found the deck to be extremely consistent. which is what has drawn me to it. ive juggled with the idea of adding white, but now for rest in peace/stony silence than anything else.

I've had exactly the same thought, but haven't had the balls to pull the trigger on it yet.
I like the single wurmcoil engine I'm seeing in online lists, but when are we boarding it out? if ever?
Re Beast Within: It's a powerful instant for 3cmc; I think with most players it comes down to what cards they must omit to make room for it and how much they value giving the opponent a 3/3 creature. I like to MB the card when I'm playing GDD and run a single in the SB when I'm not playing GDD.
Re WUrmcoil Engine: Just started playing it a few months ago and I've come to absolutely love it. I tend to board it out when I know/suspect my opponent has multiple Paths, SB Rest in Peace or similar exile effects.
I'm curious what you folks think about the "new" 'Legends Rule' and whether it affects Ponza at all? the only Chandra PW I've run is ToD, but I remember people used to play some different iterations of Chandra. Once Ixalan is released and this rule is retroactively applied to all PWs, is there any merit to running another Chandra alongside ToD?

ya I'm worried that it'll mess with the consistency. there's also dragonlord dromoka and that 5/5 angel that prevents your stuff from getting sacrificed.
wurmcoil is great vs everything that doesn't run path. but i do side it out against path decks.
now that there's the new legend rule, I'm interested in revisiting the six mana chandra. having both in play would be great.
As somebody who's just picked up Ponza, and is playing around with a little experimentation, does perhaps Hazoret's Undying Fury have a home here? It would directly compete with the primary wincon of the deck for a slot, so obviously it's going to turn heads but I think it has some appeal. It twists the decks arm into building around it (capping spells at 5CMC, but this deck is chockers full of 4 and 5 CMC bombs), and it IS capable of completely fizzling, but in my usage of it in standard with 24 lands and 10 dorks, it has very rarely not been a game-winning card once resolved. There's the obvious drawback of it not hitting Bonfire of the Damned or Firespout, and multiple Blood Moons would be crippling.
But then again, this deck can cheat the lands don't untap phase quite effectively, and if hits multiple LD spells at a point of the game where just a few key basics is what's keeping a player in the game after a blood moon, that's an instant game over.

While I'm usually a proponent of the philosophy "don't knock it 'till you've tried it", I'll make an exception and say this sounds like an awful idea. The possible upside of crapping out something like four Stormbreath Dragon isn't worth the baggage that comes with the card. Terrible in an opening hand and doesn't guarantee anything; whiffing on the top four cards and not being able to untap lands on our next turn isn't a situation in which I'd want to find myself.
i believe, living end will have to pay 3+3 for combo with trinisphere(which is hard when playing with us), ad nauseum will have to pay 3 for lotus bloom after suspend, pact of negation, angel's grace and spoils of the vault. storm can't combo with trini on the field(correct me if i wrong), and if you will be able to keep any opponent on two lands (most likely if you are on the play) - trinisphere should win the game in most cases.
but if someone will side in enchantment/art hate against us (for sprawls/moons), trinisphere may also suffer from it.
In addition to what's already been said I like to board it in against control/death's shadow or other decks that rely on cheap spells because it reduces the number of spells they can play per turn cycle. If they have 5 lands they can only play one spell, which means they have to choose between serum visions and remand.
Are there anyone who both play GDD and Trinisphere ?
How bad it is?
I love both cards, but the non-bo affrays me.
Any thoughts?
When I was playing GDD, I would run two Trinisphere in the SB and it wasn't as bad as it seems on paper. I obviously ran more cards w/ 3cmc or less compared to non-GDD builds in order to maximize the number of targets, but a lot of those were spells that cost exactly 3 mana (e.g. Beast Within, Molten Rain, Firespout, etc). It was the most problematic when I ran Bolt and Mizzium Mortars. I've moved away from GDD as of late, but if you select your spells wisely and know what to board out then it's totally possible to play both with minimal backlash. I'd probably still be playing that build had it not been for my fascination to brew with Eidolon of the Great Revel; absolutely love playing that card in Ponza.

I assume it does a whupping zero damage?
Ya in game is not the time to learn that lesson!
