So I've always been an aggro player and I've always loved Naya. I took time off of magic because my area isn't the best but I do feel the itch again. I want to try and get back into it but with something different either combo or control and this is my choice for a control deck. How does this deck fare against faster decks?
From what I have seen pretty well. The only one that has been a problem G1 is Affinity, but its pretty much if you have the early bonfire or anger if you main it. But I have been able to get both Goblins and Bushwacker zoo G1 easily, and it only gets better post board when you have 6ish sweepers.
I played ponza at my LGS weekly modern event for the first time this week. I am a long time burn player, who decided to move into the business of blowing up lands. My list is a dark dwellers list trying to make full use of GDDs utility. I won the event without dropping a single game. Beating affinity, burn and grixis midrange. I can't stress enough how good dark dwellers is in any given matchup. So much utility.
Would you mind sharing your list? I'm looking to try out a GDD list.
not sure how to get the cool list format you guys get on this site? would be happy to share though.

In the reply window there are some buttons to help with that. I tried playing around with the [deck] and [cards] tags but it doesn't seem to work for me. Any chance you could put it in another site or is that against the rules?
Some people like it and play it as a 1 of because if it's synergy with Birds. I personally haven't tried it because it's ability is meaningless with a Moon out, and Moon is one of our best plays in most games, so we often mulligan to get it, especially in game one if we know what the opponent is playing.

my thoughts exactly..many lists i've been seeing run 3-4 moons..i would like to hear opinions from those who are still running it, is it still worth its slot? i feel it would just be turned off majority of the time..

I've been running it up until a few days ago. I never was happy or unhappy to see it and I've probably used it once in the entirety of my testing, though I switched it out the first time my opening hand was KWR and a Mountain and haven't been missing it.
The list is very similar to what people have been posting here in the last few weeks, and I can say I am very happy with it.
Some notes I do have, which I would like some thoughts on:
Oath of Nissa this is a card I have been wanting to jam into the list for a little while. I like the idea of being able to filter the top few cards and be able to cast our planeswalkers regardless of our mana situation. Trying to find a home in the 75 is proving a challenge though.
What is the "correct" T1 play for Ponza? If you have a full 7 with an Arbor Elf & U Sprawl in it, do you run our the land+elf or land+sprawl?
Depends largely on the matchup and / or opening hand. Ideally you want to go land Elf on turn one, to have access to four mana on turn two, and six mana on turn three (turn three Titan is awesome). But if you're sure they can kill the Elf on their turn, land Sprawl isn't a bad choice as you'll likely have three mana on turn two for Moon or Rain, which is one of our greatest plays.

-----when sequencing, open with Sprawl in situations where you need the most resilient dork and the payoff at three is Moon or a powerful LD chain (Rain>Rain/Moss>Moss/Command, etc). If given the choice between Elf and Sprawl, if I’m in the dark, I also look at my payoff. Playing Elf first is riskier, but if I have another land and get a turn-two Thrun/Baloth/Acid-Moss into a turn-three Titan/Dragon, I’ll go for it. Also remember that Sprawl can be free the turn you play it if you can use one land to enchant the other. Birds is the riskiest, least powerful opener, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.- matt mendoza

Titanshift is favorable, we main deck most people's sideboard for it. Not an auto win by any means but it's solid.
Affinity is rough game 1 but with our ramp we can play artifact wipes earlier than other decks could.
Burn depends a little on your main deck, not a great matchup there though.
Death's Shadow of both variants haven't been any problem for me. Most people here report the same.
UW Control is solidly favorable.
EldraTron is favorable.

You're playing 3 Goblin Dark-Dwellers, so why Bonfire of the Damned over Mizzium Mortars? Sure, Mizzium doesn't hit the face, but it does give more options for the Goblin. Plus, Leyline of Sanctity doesn't stop Mortars like it can Bonfire.

But if they kill your elf you only have 2 mana on T2. Where as if you lead with sprawl your are guaranteed 3 mana.
