Man that list looked super sweet but we didn't get to see it do anything but bully the video maker. They had really bad rng, or they could just be a worse deck than us all together. Also the person was complaining about having to have tight play. For me, most of my losses have come from playing too loose that's to say, making mistakes or poor judgement calls.
Edit: changed the bad word to not get stared out.
Edit:spelling
I can't believe the Loam player lost to that Rock deck - or to that pilot (the guy was clearly misplaying, not bringing in Surgicals and such, and could he possibly be any more whiny?). In general, Loam should beat-up on fair, midrange decks like that, and I think that was what was happening until his graveyard got exiled by Spellbomb games 2 and 3. He couldn't rebuild, and had no hand or board presence either. It seems like he was perhaps too durdly, and couldn't close out the game quick enough when ahead.
Wrenn and Six seemed to be putting in good work while there was a GY - though I think the Loam pilot should have ultimated it when he had a chance. We didn't see much of the Ruination Rioter, but it's death trigger was relevant once in killing a Liliana of the Veil after getting edicted, which I guess is something. I'm still skeptical there.
the person who made the video was on golgari midrange not loam. they faced a jund loamvortex and got destroyed by both rng and the redundancy of the loam deck.
Edit: I misunderstood your post I apologize for that. But yeah I agree with what you observed
just played faeries and all i can say is I'm glad that deck isn't prominent. Every card basically reads counter target spell or tap all lands at draw step -.-
Has anyone considered Shadow of the Grave in a Jund Loam build to give you the option of lots of face damage or lots of Bears? Pitch a few lands, shadows them back, pitch some more, all EOT.
Hey there,
some of you might remember me. Some time ago I got into this deck and even wrote some comments, but my account and everything I ever posted got deleted.
With the release of modern horizons this deck just seems very fun once more. I started with a RG shell and after some brainstorming and reading some comments about the 3 Color versions I was wondering what white and black really bring to the table and if a RG deck, with 1 or 2 black or white source, depending on the splash, would be viable.
The idea would be to only play the white/black for sideboardcards. White is just an overall solid color when it comes to sideboarding and black would provide some discard and graveyard hate.
Hopefully this explanation wasnt to confusing.
@SSquirrel:
Back in the day, when shadow was first released it saw a little play, but most of the time the card was just win more. It can lead to some Gotcha games, but most of the time the card either doesnt do anything, or you are winning anyway.

That's understandable, however the format is far faster than it was at that time. Just thinking a more combo focused version to end the game first might not be the worst idea.
Sadly i cant really go into more detail. My playexperience with the deck is very limited, someone else is probably more suited to answer your question in Detail, like CrypticCommander.
What are the general thoughts on the newly spoiled lotus field? It does seem pretty decent.
Edit:
@CrypticCommander:
I havent read the last few pages, but mtgs is apperently shutting down early july, are you going to write the primer for the new site?

With the release of m20 I feel the Naya version of this deck is getting some new toys. I was using a lot of etb creatures for value before but now i feel there is potential for a hybrid landfall vortex/assault loam deck
The lands and sideboard are really difficult to figure out in a list like this without some play testing which I won’t get to do for a couple weeks.
I chose vortex and tectonic reformation for the lower curve and less restrictive mana, there is lots of color strain as it is
Boom/bust is good to slow the game down and a way to seal the game late.
Reclaimer and KotR along with brought back can put a lot of lands into play quickly, and they all provide some ramp in the right case. So much fetching that there is a reasonable ability to deck thin to a meaningful degree
This is a deck that can be fast with steppe lynx, grind someone down with ghost quarter and just a couple lands, or get lots of mana and draw lots of cards
Suggestions and feedback are appreciated
Here is the Naya list that Im currently on and testing out. Finale is nuts since I have more creatures than usual. Delerium on Traverse is actually triggered quite a bit here, the Helixs are probably gonna be switched for paths but I am liking the life gain quite a bit. I agree that the M20 print elf is gonna be worth testing.

my sideboard is due to alot of tron, dredge, and an annoying zombie deck so pick what works for your meta.
How is ruination rioter? Seems like high potential just not sure how well he works in practice
I like the landfall plan to reduce reliance on the graveyard, and the good news is half of the graveyard hate is just ok to useless against the deck anyways
I’m testing using some cycle lands instead of tectonic reformation. Cycle lands seem better against everything except Rest In Peace.

Rioter is a shock for most people. I drop it with 4 or 5 lands in the yard and my Opponent's eyes are like well either I take 2 or I take more. It is also good to hold up for blocks, deters them from swinging in unless they have trample. Even with no lands in graveyard it makes people hesitate, they don't know if I have the capability to toss lands into the yard or not.
I'm for sure switching most of the basics out for cycle lands and probably the Dryad Arbor. Dryad is a nice fetch vs lily when I have a big Knight on the field but has been under performing.
Landfall is a viable option to test, it always felt a bit lack luster last year when I was playing it. You may be right that these cards may push it over the top. I tried to bump the deck with Elspeth.
Has anyone tested Throes of Chaos in the deck yet? I think it actually makes sense as a 1 of. If we draw it early it can pitch to discard like Faithless Looting, or late it turns into a live spell.
In a deck that is land heavy it can function as a way to dig for a live card when you've got nothing else going on. I'm planning to run it this week at FNM, but the more I consider it there more I think this is actually great for land heavy builds.
I've got two copies of throes in my sideboard for my R/G version of the deck. I haven't had the opportunity to play it yet though. It's definitely a solid card in the long grindy matches against things like control or jund where you need gas every turn.
