So did you end up playing pyro? I don't see him in your list? Did you enjoy it? He is fun in jund builds when you get to chain raven's crime to dump your opponent's hand, then chain flame jabs for that extra damage.
0 Pyro's.
I think without Flame Jab he doesn't deserve the spot.
As far as my first testings goes, Hooting Mandrills highly depends on your list.
If you run only few greaveyard dependent cards he's worth a shot.
Exiling unneeded stuff from the yard to get a 4/4 trample is nice, but didn't interact well with Tarmogoyf or Ooze.
He's also dead in cases where your Yard is exiled with Rest in Peace or Relic.
Young Pyro is probably best to be left to the junk builds that have flame jab and ravens crime to benefit from. Otherwise I agree hat young Pyro doesn't fit your list. Personally I don't like Mandrills and I would want to save the delve for a black creature while running black. Your list possibly could have benefited from become immense over mandrills IMO. Having that combat trick as well as the ability to use assault to clean up the board and then immense to finish off your opponent's life total seem good together.
All valid points. I think I am just stuck on running black. I prefer the jund build to the Naya build. It really has been too long since I ran aggro loam. I'll have to run it this week.
If you are looking for a good life gain spell have you considered feed the clan? Most lists are creature light, with your list you may be able to get away with that over reinforcements. I guess the main upside to timely is that you can potentially get 3 doodoo heads for chumps.
Hmm,
only Knight and Mandrills go up to 4/4 and higher, so that doesn't fit either.
I'll test 4 Knight of the Reliquary and 0 Mandrills in further Games. Hooting Mandrills had some ugly anti-synergies with the Deck and often costs 3 Mana.
In that Slot i'd rather go up to 4 Knights.
If running kird ape and cat why not run 4 commune and 2 looting. Your 2 drop slots are a lot less contested than your 1 drop slots, especially with path and bolt already in your 1 mana slots as well. it gives you a much better curve overall and can dig you into assault or knight for turn 3.
I'm still gambling around with the numbers of Commune with the Gods and faithless Looting but
recognized that Looting is also great out of the graveyard and can always be discarded to another Looting.
In Naya Lists, the side board can be used to shore up the combo match. The main board should beat pretty much any fair match up. You drop a crusher or knight, use loam and assault to clear the field of blockers.
Hey. I just saw Gerry Thompsons threat on Starcitygames. You think it would be possible to make a Temur loam deck with Swan of Bryn Argoll? not a deck with 40 lands. But a deck with 25-28 lands?
The list he is referencing is a ur control deck that uses swans because it can't be killed through damage, has evasion and can draw you into a burn plan. Skied is just sweeter as the game goes on. But it's much different than seismic swans. You could probably splash the green for loam but I'm not sure it would be as ideal
Shooting swan with seismic to dredge a loam would be nice.. I was just wondering if it would be possible to make a temur list with that. Or if it would be to dudley. I'll se what I can think of and post it for some critique
That seems ok. You only need 4 mana to cast loam twice in a turn with that set up. Getting there sounds tough since we're talking turn 5 at the earliest with tapping out turn 3,4 and possibly 5, without winning or disrupting our opponent
sadly my Aggro Loam List didn't pay off.
Some competitive Players mentioned that playin' Kird Ape along with Assault Loam Package is Anti-Synergistic.
Any Idea how to get Naya running?
I thought about a B Splash for Lingering Souls and Unburial Rites to get some Big Stuff in the Yard (Borgoborymos comes to mind).
Did they give reasoning as to how it is not synergistic? Zoo strategy to start, loam for that added reach after the aggro plan is foiled. Not sure where that isn't synergistic. I would love to hear why they think that.
That seems like a fine idea. Definitely works with the game plan. I would suggest raven's crime in that build and only a splash for white. I just love the jund variant and splashing W for souls and rites seems fine to me.
Witness is best when you can rebuy it somehow (flicker effect, recurring nightmare, volrath's stronghold) but not entirely bad otherwise. Still probably slow for modern.

His best bet is to run cheap spells with retrace or U Cantrips to get him workin.
Hooting Mandrills does have the upside of Trample and cmc6.
He stampedes over Lingering Souls Token and dodges Abrupt Decay and Inquisition of Kozilek.

has anyone tested Gnaw to the Bone in the Side instead of Timely Reinforcements?

Today i tested on Trice and a Player adviced to play 2 Eternal Witness and a single Naya Charm to get Stuff back from the Yard.
Any oppinions on that?
