There has been a list popping up now and again that is very creature heavy that runs 4 fulminator mage and a team of aggressive creatures with assault to help clear the way and gain some reach. Other than that nothing too great or specific. I think I heard during a recent modern GP that an aggro loam deck went into day 2 with 1 loss, but that player didn't end up placing.
Thanks for the tips. Boil and sowing salt are for different decks. Boil for the blue decks obviously, delver, uwr maybe, twin etc. Sowing salt is for tron, there are some in my meta and i need something to replace at least 2 decays, they are ok but 4x is way too much. I might just try ghost quarter in the board, it is also good vs amulet.
Spellskite is a fantastic magic card but without the option of paying blue is it worth it? Not very useful vs burn if you just trade 3 damage for 2 life...
Brownscale is here exclusively to fight burn, not aggro decks in general. I'll still keep one just to see how it goes.
I don't know what type of burn decks you face, but in my case they are rarely the mono red version but rather the red white with a green splash for destructive revelry. They will always side the card against me because of seismic assault so i'm trying to avoid bringing in additional targets for it. With the new red green command i think this version will be more popular, because atarka's command is just an upgrade to skullcrack.
If you look at the most common sideboards of burn decks you will find very few graveyard hate, because they have yet to print an efficient graveyard hate spell that burns. Brownscale we can dredge into just by playing the deck, dragon's claw can be milled and lost forever. We can trigger it with every looting we mill and with liliana we can gain life each turn while beating with pyro/huntmasters/manlands, all this without triggering opposing eidolon of the great revel.
Plus having to keep flame jab game 2-3 against burn just because of dragon's claw is not ideal, they are the first cards i cut because they are very bad in this matchup.
Maybe i'm wrong but i think it is at least worth a try, so i'll keep 2 brownscales in my board until i face burn and we shall see then.
Burn decks are very finely tuned around their cards doing just enough damage to count up to 20. Being able to turn their Bolts into Shocks is extremely valuable. In addition gumming up the board requiring them to point burn spells at the spellskite means more time and less resources on the burn player's side. Spellskite also has the added luxury of being a near free roll against infect and twin. Boil doesn't seem all that great since you'll be hard pressed to resolve it against a competent twin player not to mention twin has a decent amount of non-island lands to play around it as well. Consider instead, Thrun against slow blue based control decks and maybe illness in the ranks or Night of Souls' Betrayal against twin/infect. Rakdos charm seems a bit too 'cute' in my opinion: Grudge is better at killing artifacts; instant speed gaveyard removal isn't all too amazing in the current meta, would much rather have a bojuka bog or Relic; the last mode only really works once against a twin player and only if you have more life than they do. double that amount if they use pestermite.
In general it seems like the JUND versions just have a harder time against burn than the NAYA or RUG variants of Loam.
I have now been playing JUND assault/loam for 2-3 weeks. I really like the deck. But i was wondering. How much do you use the seismic assault? I can count on a single how many times i've had it in play. Am i just to dredge happy and not carring enough for the assault? what's your opponinent?
I'll say this. I play Rug, and I rarely dredge Loam, unless i have Assault up, or really have a reason to. Also, i manage to play Seismic Assault almost every single game.

Not just the Tendo King, the power of the Galactic Leyline surpasses that of the Tempa Emperor, No!, It's magnificent power is even greater than that!
For the jund version i mostly dredge for value, either after a smallpox, to recover tec edges/manlands, to raven's crime away the opponent's hand, to flame jab away some creatures, etc. Depending on the version we don't always need assault to close out games, deciding when to dredge and when to draw is an art and depends on many factors such as your hand, your board, your graveyard, etc.
How necessary is LotV in the creature light Jund version with Bloodghasts? I'm thinking about putting it together and Lili is just way out of my price range.
Not that important. Or atleast that is what I think. All so, liliana will get dredged away flame jab, vengeful pharo, ravens crime and worm harvest are all really nice cards
Agreed, liliana is far from being mandatory, i just like her synergy and versatility. You could easily play extra removal spells like terminate of extra discard spell or both in her slot.
I agree as well about liliana. for me though I always appreciate her against other control decks as well as in grindy match ups I find the use of her "free spells" each turn to be helpful.
I think with that respect if you're on a gifts plan that puts borboygamos into play which has a pseudo assault ability into play then it applies here. Without either assault or borboygamos, you're really just a gifts deck.
Not quite sure. The infestation allows for a more aggro game. The assault lets you to play a more midrangey game. the games I've played with infestation I've been wanting the assault but not vice versa
To me it seems like infestation is more meant to hold off aggro and build a board presence while you are digging to an assault to help close out the game with some reach.
