remember what i said a couple of post before? if a UW/UWR deck makes it at GPT, it'll be a control version. I was expecting to see UW and not URW, but the thing is basically the same: if we wanna stay in meta, actually, we have to go control.
Well, I would be surprised if the deck even had a big showing in regards to # of people running the deck. I promise if 20% of the field ran UWR Midrange that we would have seen several in the top 8 just like pod.

Current Decks:
Modern
Modern Warp / UR Control / UR Storm / Naya Breachshift / ElectroBalance
Legacy
Solidarity / Lands / Sneak and Show / Grixis Delver / Reanimator / Belcher / Storm / Dredge
I would bet UWR Midrange is one of the most popular decks in the format. Not as popular as Melira Pod, but certainly top 3 and way more played than UWR Control (which I think is better currently).

Well, the control is going to have a better match up vs Pod and Twin so it's no surprise it did better at the GP.

You can use Shadow of Doubt, Aven Mindcensor and Pillar of Flame/Magma Spray. Combine that with the usual burn/removal suite, some Paths, artifact removal and a bit of graveyard hate and the matchup isn't a problem.
My sideboard is slightly different and I play 3 Remand 2 Mana Leak main.
Cheers
I watched Cheon stream yesterday and what he did against this MU is to board out his 2 mana counters and kept all Cryptic Commands. He brought it Batterskull, Mindcensor (I think), Stony Silence and Path.
He's playing a tweaked version btw. Just to add, when I play against them I like to bring in pyroclasm and a 1 of surgical extraction.
I think surgical mediocre in this match up as they're most likely going to kill you with creature damage instead of the combo in the sideboard games. Extracting a melira or redcap out of their deck doesn't do much, and they don't play 4 copies, especially post board, so it'll be unlikely you'll get one out of their hand.
i find melira pod to be a pretty easy matchup. graffdigger's cage and stony silence to shut down pod. wrath of god for thrun and creature sweep. our one for one removal and counters naturally take care of their creatures.
Yeah, don't be too concerned about the combo. You should try them like a resilient aggro deck. Counters aren't that good because of Pod and Persist dudes, but a bunch of removal and a bit of pressure will get there.
I haven't been following modern much, recently. How has this deck been doing so far? I'm working towards finishing the mana-base, but I have most of the rest. Do you guys think it'll still be a big contender going forward? I don't want to buy all the lands and find out the deck is out-dated or something.
You can choose this dec or the control version, both of them are really similar and have an almost identical array of spells, so switching from one to the otehr isnt all that hard (provided you own geists)
Both of them are tier 1 right now, and i think they will be for a few months more, unless theros brings in some real hate.
I was intending on bringing this list to a tournament soon, and I have been more focused on legacy recently so I am assuming it is somewhat out of date. I see lists of many different flavors in here and so I am looking for input, as my list seems to fall somewhere in the middle of the road style-wise:
I feel like the sideboard is out of date right now. Most players have gravitated away from Baneslayer angel and combust, in particular. Spell snares also seem awkwardly positioned but probably still good enough.
I also see that the norm is to squeeze in a 1-of sulfur falls; what to cut, or go to 25 lands? 25 feels steep, given that my curve is a bit lower than some contemporary control-ish lists that are deeper on the cryptic command / planeswalker plan.
Any advice appreciated.

Seriously, what about this strikes you as remotely worthy of discussion?
I dont think 4 paths are a neccessity any more, 3 should be enough during a game. The only deck in which you need more than 3 is junk, and you need wraths for that one, so again path becomes less useful.
I run 3 Mb and 1 on the side, and after the last tournament, im seriously considering cutting the 4th from the side.
Considerations I've had:
1. Bringing in a Eiganjo Castle, just haven't found one in my area and not really wanting it bad enough to hunt it down.
2. Rest in Peace in the sideboard would obviously be done according to meta necessity. I don't have any graveyard decks that I've played against recently.
Otherwise, I'm liking the decklist alright. I've had rather consistent games. I run the basic lands so that I don't have issues with many of the land destruction/Blood Moon since there are quite a few of those running about the people I play against.

Get that Eiganjo Castle ASAP. It's even more relevant since you're running Cliques. It might not look all that impressive but it's a permanent that lets you swing into things with Geist and survive (as opposed to a piece of removal that goes away). Anything with 3 or less power (provided it doesn't have double strike) is now swing into-able, whereas before it was 1 power or less. Also, your opponents might waste a tec edge on it instead of your Colonnade.
I know Ajani is good but your list might benefit from Elspeth instead. Have you tested her? If so, which do you like better?

can make room from spell suite easy enough. i'd probably cut 1 path, my isochron, maybe a helix, maybe a snap. it'd have to be thought out quite a bit.
i guess it's not even close to as good as cursecatcher, which gets lord pumps.

Better than Cursecatcher in this deck, although I feel suboptimal still.
