I think you can cut the 4th path for a 3rd mana leak or electrolyze, aside from that the list looks perfect to me.
the only thing i really dont agree is with 2 veredicts and 1 anger. Either you play 2 verdicts, or 2 angers, not a split. And a lone mindsensor doesnt work, its 3 or none.
Well, the problem with playing splits of things like anger is that, unlike other kinds od splits, when you need it, its because you want to wipe the board, most likely cause you are dying.
Draw the wrong one and you lose. Quite simple, actually. Besides, verdict seems a lot less necessary now that melira and zoo are on the rise, while jund/junk/GB are a lot less played. The only relevant target is fae, which isnt being played in big numbers.
I suppose you could make a case for etched champion, but . . . its too situational, right now anger seems the best of the 2 cards.

Yah I can see that. I played against Rock yesterday and it was a pretty hard match-up. All his creatures were pretty big so anger didn't hit many of them. Maybe by draw's were bad, only saw 2 path over both games, no Cryptics, and neither anger nor verdict, but even with one of them I think it might have been pretty difficult. Also I forgot to side in RIP against knight of the Reliquary. Ok so as I'm typing this maybe its not as horrible as I thought with some luck...
I was playing 2 Explosives, 1 verdict, 1 anger of gods, but thinking of dropping to 1 EE and adding another anger. Thoughts?
Also I just added a singleton runed halo, dam that card is awesome. Idunno if I would add anymore, but its just some extra bonus vs most decks.

Another case is the 1RR mana cost. To expect to play that on turn three is very greedy but I think all your points make sense. I'll try 2 and why is mindscensor something as a 2 to 3 of. Why not a one-of?

Hey guys! I stopped playing UWR Midrange after Nacatl was unbanned so I'm not posting here anymore, but I've just read Ari Lax's article on SCG where he talks about all Modern decks from PT Valencia that had 7-2-1 or better records. UWR had three decks on that list, 1 Control and 2 Midrange (identical lists). Just came here to post the midrange list hoping it will help:
The reasoning here is that Geist isn't that good anymore and that Blade Splicer + Resto Angel is really good vs Zoo and combo (when you need a fast clock).
GP Richmond should shed some more light over the Geist issue. I fully expect Zoo to be in the top 8 and continue to be one of the most played decks. The tournament will be big, more than 3k players already pre-registered. ò.Ó
Storm: try your best to avoid Pyromancer Ascension resolving. Bring in your graveyard hate. Kill Electromancer. If all else fails, try to counter the first ritual.
Amulet: rarely played against this deck, but Path (for Titan) is invaluable. Also, Tec Edge/Ghost Quarter for the "pump" lands (Sunhome, Kessig Wolf Run). It's weird because they can kill you really fast but also are really slow if they don't land an Amulet right away.
If you happen to run it, Shadow of Doubt can be good against Amulet. If they happen to have the amulet in play, their next step is either get more lands in play (Azusa) or cast a Titan/Hive Mind. Summoner's Pact make the deck more consistent by giving access to both. Shadow of Doubt counters it while drawing you a card and forcing the Amulet player to still pay the 4 mana. One of the danger of Titan in this deck is that it attacks for 8 when it comes into play, fetching 2 more lands. If you don't have the counter or path, Shadow of Doubt can also slow them down considerably. Finally they play Tolaria West which is an uncounterable tutor for Pact of Negation to protect their Hive Mind/Titan. Some lists even run Ethereal Usher that fetches both Titan and Hive Mind. All in all, they run at least 11 tutor effects (excluding Ethereal Usher).
It's hard to counter the Amulet since the deck tries to have it turn 1. However, countering a Summer Bloom or Explore slows them down a lot because they pretty much need this effect to get their lands in play as they run 11 bounce lands. Also, since these lands come with triggers, you can reduce the effect of azusa by bolting it after the 2nd land comes into play. Including the Summoner's Pact, the deck runs 11 bombs that might just instantly win them the game. They also have access to 5 Pacts of Negation (via Tolaria West) so it can be a problem to counter all of their threats. They can easily reach a point where they can cast 2 per turn. For these reasons, keeping them low on mana will help you considerably, they can get stuck on too many 6 drops if you can counter their acceleration.

The most successful Titan-Amulet deck ran Hive Mind backup, so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

I have been following this thread for awhile and figured I go ahead and post something myself. I love Geist of Saint Traft as a creature (he is also my commander in EDH) and plan to play him for the foreseeable future. I play UWR Geist on MTGO and in paper. I've recently created a youtube channel centered around UWR Geist in Modern. There isn't much there yet, but I plan to most more videos soon. I hope to create some helpful content for more people who enjoy playing this deck. I feel like mentioning that I don't play this deck because I think it is the best deck to play (although I definitely think it is Tier 1). I love Geist, Snap, Resto, Thundermaw, Cryptic Command etc... and my goal is enjoy playing Modern with a deck that I really like. I play this deck because I really enjoy it, and for me that is the right reason. If I can do well at my local store and decently on MTGO, than I am happy.
I took UWR Geist in the above configuration to my local store for "Modern Mondays". We had 8 players and three rounds of swiss. I went 3-0 against Infect, Gruul Aggro, and Mono Red Goblins.
The meta at my store is fairly diverse. I have seen Affinity, Infect, Bogles, Storm, Splinter Twin, Naya Aggro, Gruul Aggro, Goblins, Jund, Scapeshift, and BW Tokens. On most nights the meta tends to lean towards aggro in the form of Affinity and Infect, with one player running Gruul.
At first I had planned to run zero or one Electrolyze as many people have began to do. However considering the specific meta at more store, I felt like running a couple of copies gave my deck more flexibility/power in some matches. I opted to go -1 Mana Leak, and to move a Lightning Helix to the sideboard. It ended up being a good decision, as I was able to make good use of it when it was drawn in all of my matches.
Infect: Went as you'd imagine. I made good use of spot removal and Snapcaster Mage to run my opponent out of gas.
-4 Geist of Saint Traft
+1 Wrath of God
+1 Engineered Explosives
+2 Wear Tear
Gruul Aggro: More Snap/Spot removal. Anger of the Gods was great out of the board as could be imagined.
-4 Geist of Saint Traft
-1 Electrolyze
+2 Anger of the Gods
+2 Wrath of God
+1 Engineered Explosives
Goblins: Yet again, Snap/Spot removal was very effective. Life gain from Lightning Helix was important. My opponent played well, and both games were actually quite close.
-3 Cryptic Command
-2 Vendilion Clique
+1 Lightning Helix
+2 Anger of the Gods
+1 Engineered Explosives
+1 Wear/Tear (Blood Moon)
May I ask why Wrath of God is your wiper of choice in the sideboard? I feel like regeneration isn't a major player across decks at this point, but the uncounterability of Supreme Verdict is.
Otherwise, good luck and I look forward to seeing some good uploads (:

*** hits Thrun, the Last Troll, Supreme does not. Can you actually name any decks where the uncounterable clause on Supreme Verdict is relevant? Perhaps if Faeries were more of a contender, then I could see it. But since Thrun is going to be a major factor in the GP after a U/W/r list just won the PT, you've got to have an answer to Thrun. *** provides that.
Incidentally, Hallowed Burial is a strong sweeper in this meta for us, perhaps more so than both *** and Anger of the Gods. Sure, you have to wait for T5 to cast it, but it's strong against Pod, Boggles, Living End, and still has good game against Zoo and Affinity. I like a mix of Burial, ***, and Anger in my SB.
I see *** only against Thrun. I can understand if you come across him he's a good critter to answer, but I haven't played against him in a deck (although I realize he is run in Pod/Jund but I just never see him personally).

I have not faced a Thrun personally either, but i do agree with buttnakedwonder. I expect to see a lot of the green decks at Richmond running 1-2 somewhere in the 75, if only because a UWr deck won. Hell, Tarmo-Twin could run it in the side for us (and the control version, as well as other control decks and spot removal heavy deck) if they really wanted to.

i would say to keep one of each in the side, theya re really versatile and hit a lot of problem cards for us. Purge gets rid of blood moon/moon mage, kiki jiki, splinter twin, liliana, raging ravine and bob among the most relevant ones, while combust hits restoration angel, exarch and pestermite, village beel ringer, and colonnades, all for 2 mana, and combust is even uncounterable.
Pretty good if you ask me.

Thanks, I'll post here when I add some content!
This sideboard was built to address the meta at my local gaming store. I would run a different configuration on MTGO, or for a GP as some were discussing. When I planned out the SB I didn't see a need for an uncounterable sweeper (given my LGS meta), therefore the "cannot be regenerated" aspect of Wrath of God was just extra value. Also, I know for a fact some people have Thrun, the Last Troll in the sideboard at my LGS, and Wrath is essentially a nod to that.
@Valanarch I see your point regarding Verdict and TarmoTwin, but I am not sure I agree with that plan. My plan against Twin does not usually involve sweepers since Twin gives the copies haste, however Goyf can be a difficult threat to remove. My gut says that spending 4 mana to Verdict on your main phase against TarmoTwin is probably a sketchy way to spend mana. 4 mana is a lot, and I think there would be many cases in which you would be leaving yourself open to getting combo killed. I think against TarmoTwin you are better served dealing with Goyf via Spell Snare and Path. Additionally, Patrick Dickman's TarmoTwin list only runs 6 counters, 4 of which are Remand. Remand is great, but not always best against a 1 mana instant. I could be incorrect, I'll have to get with my friend that has TarmoTwin on MTGO and do some testing. What do you think?
i faced thrun so many times that i would NEVER leave home w/o my wrath of god in SB. that card is a sort of auto-loss for us.
ok guys i have come up with the decision to change my manabase. i always thought that's the most important part of the deck so i am pretty "scared" of making a mess. i am asking you some advices.
The second one is actually what i'm running now and as far as having access to all the colors it has been fine. But of course if you dont draw a fetch, you really can't get red easily(but most deck have this problem with their respective colours of course). Overall all im happy with my mana base, I did try Mystic Gate but it actually cause me a lot of problems, so i just dropped it.

How many hard counters do they have? if they remand it t4, that leave them with only 2 mana to spend, they cant do anything. Doesn't tarmo-twin side *most* of the combo out, leaving like 1 twin and 2 deceivers?
This hypothetical scenario is of course if they bring in Thrun, in which case Supreme Verdict does nothing and why we wanted Wrath of God from the get go. (im not try to sound like a dick, and sorry if it came across that way)
