Nothing crazy groundbreaking. Beat Dredge (2-1), UW Control (2-0), MonoU Tempo (2-1), and Hardened Scales (2-0)
Probably going to drop 1-2 of the Pentad Prisms for something else, maybe squeeze some Serum Visions back into there. Otherwise everything in the main felt good. Sideboard I didn't actually get to use the Cyclonic Rift, but I think I may swap the 2 blood moon for 2 Teferi and swap a Hallowed Fountain into the main.

Decklist looks pretty solid, I was curious how you fwlt about the pentad prism? I wasn't the biggest fan of them when I tried two in my deck on Monday.
I am going to run with this list tonight and see how it pans out. I will give my updated on monday for how it works out.
I've seen some people praising Pentad Prism for speeding up the combo by a turn. Honestly, I've yet to have them do that. So far they've been fine, but underwhelming. They've never been particularly bad, or particularly good

Yeah that is how I felt and same with the Scrap trawler combo stuff. I understand the situation where that could go off but never happened for me.
This has all happened before, and it will happen again. Pentad prism is bad! BAD I TELL YOU!
JLambe, list looks good. I personally think 3 whir is where we want to be right now, but I do understand the card is now flexible. Give Deputy of Detention a try out of the board, (probably over explosives), and I think you will find yourself boarding him in and finding him useful more often than you'd think.

Alright, I'll try Deputy of Detention tonight instead of engineering explosives. I would like 3 whirs but I don't know what I would take out or I drop goblin engineer to 3 and +1 whir to the deck.
I would be interested in seeing people sideboard options against other decks. For the most part this deck 85%-90% set and everyone is playing the same version.

Considering the deck is pretty much entirely different and plays very differently from the prison days of old, I'm fine with revisiting old discarded ideas to see if it's any different now
I will say having urza to make prisms into Mox sapphire after it's drained is pretty cool and it feeds 3 to his ability is nice but late/ mid game it'll always be a *****ty draw.
Hi,
Old Texx player in here, but wow the deck has changed a lot and I am quite lost...
seems that thenobodys has done a great work with all the new cards printed and created a great iteration of the deck.
I am in the process of buying all those new cards.
thenobodies, do you have some kind of side strategy with that iteration and things that can be done with the cards- just to have a starting point... maybe it would be nice to update the primer and maybe I can contribute with my toughts onece I have a clear path on how to play again the deck...
now that urzasis released everibody seems to play the deck... before I thnk it was also good, but the hell.
1st opinipon: looking at the lists it seems that caverns to artificer would be nice agains control. is decay an option vs stony and green stony with legs? this deck seems to have lot of dependancy of swrds package...
thanks in advance.

Now everyone's sideboard looks a lot different, and I think that's fine, as long as you know what you want to do with all the cards pretty well. My sideboard changes fairly often, but these 4 sideboard cards are set in stone for me: Ego, Battle, Deputy, Dead of Winter. Ego is just the best card against combo, battle gives you the best possible card against burn and other aggro decks not named infect, deputy is a great catch-all that can't be hit by negate, veto, denial, or force, and Dead of Winter can swing certain matchups. Spell pierce has been pretty good, recently. But if more dredge and new Hogaak increases, I might have to look at more spellbombs in the side.
To answer your question about Cavern for artificer, just remember that your opponent has a finite number of counterspells and resources. If they counter your goblin, that's one less mana leak they can use on something else. And that's even if they have a leak or the delve counterspell. So, in other words, adding a land just to marginally shore up one matchup that is already sort of in our favor seems like a mistake.
I've gone back to 3x Leyline of the Void in my board, because I've been running into at least 2-3 Hogaak decks in every league again. Spellbomb and Cage just so rarely are enough vs Hogaak unfortunately

So last FNM was a beating with this deck, I ended up going 1-3. This is the first time with this deck that I been trounced. All the games were comepeteive and went to 3 but I ended up getting the short stick. The deck didn't draw the greatest and wasn't my night.
Match 1: U/G Flash snow creature deck, game went to 3 and they were all close games. Lost
Match 2: R/W burn, went to 3 games and wasn't able to get head with the lifegain. Game 3 he got creatures out unlike game 1 & 2, plus I never saw sideboard cards. Lost
Match 3: Riddlesmith/Urza deck: went 3 games, chalice hurt me game 1 and 3. went to time and he had me beat. Lost
Bye
There were 3 different urza decks floating around at my FNM counting me. One deck was a top deck and he ran more card draw, +4 chromatic stars, +4 ichor wellspring, no engineer and U/B. The deck drew cards like crazy and he was a very good KCI player.
I am going to take a break this week on the Grixis deck, I think it is a very powerful deck but I think the format is going to open up more which more artifact hate will be more prevalent.
On the side, I have been tinkering with a Tron land Urza/Thopter deck for fun and last night I saw a saffron olive variant of Urza with tron lands using unexpected results. He ended up going 4-1 and I thought maybe I could make a u/W version with thopter sword combo and karn as a back up. This deck list is in the deck creation forum area.
Yeah, there are a ton online, too. The deck is basically just as hard, if not harder for us now, because the spots vacated by bridge and altar (which are both kind of shut down nicely by pithing needle) are now going to either more interaction or maindeck leylines. I've been involved in a lot of close battles with the deck, and getting eeked out. I'm thinking of putting Plague Engineers in the sideboard for Zombie.
Honestly, I think I have a better record against tron these days than I do Hogaak. If Hogaak just didn't have trample...
A quick question. Do you guys play this deck online or irl? Because when I play it online, ppl tend to let me keep making thopter. Yester I spend 17 min on making thopters. so I could cast spells with urza. So I pretty much lost the MU because of it.
Is there a way to get around that?

From what i seen, if your opponent doesn't scoop to the combo, just make enough thopters to swing for lethal and pass the turn. There's not much you can do if you need to get to a certain spell in your deck with Urza via the combo. People are people, the clock is a wincon sometimes!

thnaks,
any +x-x about cards to side out and cards to side in vs diff decks in the meta?
