A neat thing about D-Sphere (or O-Ring) is exiling a Planeswalker and after they play another one using Flickerwisp to to flicker D-Sphere/O-Ring giving them back the original PW thus "legend/PW-ruling" their PW and exiling the remaining copy when D-Sphere/O-Ring returns.
To each their own, am I right? I agree, and have mentioned I believe U/W is the optimal build. Having played nearly every Emeria variant though, I've settled on Mono-W for now. It's really just about personal preference.
As for Gideon of the Trials I have conflicting feelings about him. He doesn't help when your too far behind but I have won many games with him. Plus the games that I lost, I would have lost either way. In conclusion I think Gideon is very ... fine. He provides a quick clock an insurance policy in certain matchups and virtual removal against creature light strategies. I think Gideon is slightly better than Bladesplicer and Aven Mindcensor of which would be my go to alternatives at 3cmc.
...sorry Deadeye Harpooner, while you exceeded expectations you're still just too cute!
threw down with the decklist ENCOhRE provided in the primer in a 3 player casual game and the late game value of Emeria along with the board wipes present in the deck won me the game. Was very impressed by the deck and how it plays against multiple opponents - I felt like i was able to control both of my opponents pretty well. I am still amazed at the value Court Hussar provides to the deck and I feel like he's probably my favorite creature in the deck so far. I'm subscribed to this thread to stay up to date and will keep providing updates on my experience with my local meta. Thanks again to all thread contributors and for the detailed explanation, Fincown.
Don't forget Court Hussar will die when flickered. When it returns, the "sacrifice it" clause triggers, and since you didn't actually pay anything to cast this new version, it gets sacrificed.
The consistency is largely based upon the manabase. Having more access Ghost Quarter and Tectonic Edge without losing out on your Emeria countdown because of Flagstones of Trokir is extremely helpful. Because of Flagstones I've found that Emeria will become active a full turn earlier than its U/W counterpar -> How it help Emeria ? I mean Flagstone is not plain its a legendary land though ?

That's really the best thing about it. Once Emeria goes off, I run out of reanimation targets after a while especially if I have a bunch of Sun Titans. I can just keep flickering the Court Hussar, it dies because white mana wasn't used to summon it, it dies again.. and get that card draw going. It's really nice tech.

I'm not sure if you quite understand how Flagstones of Trokir works. To put it simply you can play out your land destruction early and late game when Emeria is almost online you can use Ghost Quarters ability targeting Flagstones, which because of its own ability will grab two plains upon resolution instead of only one. Essentially this means with the exception of Emeria itself, every land drop you make has the potential to be a basic plains.

The more we discuss this deck IMHO the more the deck is going to Blink mode. So its not a pure control deck anymore its become agrro control with blink trick

I've been thinking of running Crucible as a one of recently too but its heafty pricetag has always been a major deterant. What is the group concensus concerning Crucible? Is there any matchups were it's particularly good or gamebreaking?
I still prefer Kitchen Finks to Blade Splicer though (and replacing Lone Missionary with another 2-drop) as it can buy a lot of time by blocking twice
(or 2-for-1'ing removal) and gaining life and survives out board wipes.

Got lucky to buy a crucible when it was just 10 dollars many years ago. And at that time I thought it was already expensive to pay that much for such a thing.
I bring it in mostly against Eldrazi Tron. There is a good Eldrazi Tron player in my LGS. One game I won by just running him out of usable lands with a crucible + ghost quarter. He was unable to cast Ulamog. Do note.. landing a crucible against them is not an automatic win.. I still had to survive being attacked by eldrazi, and since I was quartering each turn.. my mana stayed at 4 for most of the game.
Everybody's meta is different. Auriok Champion sounds like an answer to some type of burn deck or token deck, perhaps? Rest in Peace runs against UW Emeria's strategy, but maybe the player was expecting decks with heavy graveyard interaction that were faster than UW Emeria's deck that the player was willing to risk undermining his own deck by adding those to his sideboard.
I haven't played as much magic this past week but I did get out this night and I had some fun.
I ended up going 3 - 1 kinda, because I got the bye after I played and lost match one. One thing to note, I swithed - 4 Lone Missionary + 4 Inquisitor Exarch.
Match One
Eldrazi Tron 1 - 2
Game one played fine we traded creatures, lands, and lifetotals but eventually Emeria came online and took over the game. Game two my opponent had natural Tron into double karn exiling the we expect lands on the play. Game three we were both topdecking and Emeria was a turn away when my opponent draws an Ulimog and wins the game.
Match Two
Bye
Match Three
U/W Emeria 2 - 0
Game one he mulliganed to four played two Blade Splicers and lost to a Wrath of God. Game two we traded Sun Titans combat and he surgically mine but Eldrazi Displacer + Inquisitor Exarch was too much. My Emeria was active while his plains count was at five from multiple Tectonic Edges.

Sorry, I make posts through my phone but yesterday I cracked the screen so the touchpad isn't working like it should.
Anyway Match Four was the best match IMO. I played against a newer player piloting a budget WB Aristocrats deck and only won game one because of a Gideon Emblem. Game one they overextend into a Wrath of God but because of an on board Zuliport Cuthroat wrathing the board put me into the negatives and Game two multiple Thoughtseize effects tore apart my hand but Mortipod delayed the game long enough so Emeria came onlime getting Titan into Displacer which started killing multiple tokens a turn.
Overall the matchup should have been a lot harder. My opponent is brand new to modern and just built the deck. It's only their second event even piloting it. Simple stuff like catching blood artist triggers and opting to search for lands of path they would have forgotten if I didn't remind them.
Anyway fun matches, on a side note this marks the first match were an Emeria mirror has not gone to time game one.
Ps. Sorry about double posting, I just figured the reply from Elspeth Captain would look out of place if I just went back to edit.
With a black splash I like to use Trial of Ambition to turn Flickerwisps into "kicked" Gatekeeper of Malakir.

Here it is:
4x Wall of Omens
3x Lone Missionary
3x Blade Splicer
4x Flickerwisp
3x Sun Titan
Enchantment (7)
4x Spreading Seas
3x Detention Sphere
Planeswalker (3)
2x Gideon of the Trials
1x Elspeth, Sun's Champion
Sorcery (3)
3x Supreme Verdict
4x Path to Exile
Artifact (1)
1x Crucible of Worlds
Land (25)
3x Emeria, the Sky Ruin
4x Flooded Strand
4x Ghost Quarter
4x Hallowed Fountain
1x Irrigated Farmland
3x Marsh Flats
5x Plains
1x Prairie Stream
1x Supreme Verdict
3x Auriok Champion
2x Grafdigger's Cage
2x Rest in Peace
2x Runed Halo
3x Stony Silence
2x Surgical Extraction
The most glaring omission is Court Hussar and the SB looks pretty strange with 3x Auriok Champion and Rest in Peace + Grafdigger's Cage which I'd never run in this deck.

And he has a Crucible in the main... I have a Crucible in the side, seeing this list makes me tempted to move my Crucible in the main as well. Hmm....

Also the 25x lands seem too much, 24x is more reasonable (I run 23x myself).
By taking out: a land, Crucible and a copy of Blade Splicer/Lone Missionary there is room for 3x Court Hussar.
