You guys might have misread the card. It works on the opponent as well. The point of the new dragon is not to target it yourself with spells, its to reflect paths/lightning bolts/removal to their entire board as well. Kinda fills a similiar role to thunderbreak as a punishment effect, but costs 5. If we ever need a 5th or 6th 5cc dragon for doublr dragons build, this may find a home.
i like it (mirrorwing dragon), im not sure if i'll run it yet, but i like it.
it cant win trades vs the stuff thundermaw can, but it can at least block them and live, ala stormbreath v rhino.
it isn't immune to path/purge/o-ring like stormbreath
but it can ensure that when your defending creature gets removed, your PW's/life-total are still safe. i know i've had plenty of games where i had just dropped a fat dragon to sit in front of a koth the turn after my opponent had gone for a goyf/rhino/whatever. they just untapped, terminated the dragon and killed the PW. it's happened to all of us and it feels bad man.
it's important to remember what our best threats/sources of long-term value are in here. our PW's like koth and chandra. part of why reckoner used to be an auto-4-of was because if he was sitting in front of our board, treasure-cruise-delver had almost no way to both eliminate the reckoner and keep their board in tact to pressure/kill our PW's.
delver isnt a big deal anymore (nor does it even resemble it's former power or play-style) so reckoner isn't as valuable. but there might be a good use for this new guy yet.
my advice it that every time you draw a 5cc dragon ask yourself, if i could take mirrorwing instead right now? would i?
the answer very well might be no, but i think it's worth asking.

For the number of times I've had my opponents gripe to me about how they "literally can't beat Stormbreath", I'm content keeping Stormbreath for the time being. I love Thundermaw too, but Pro White is just so damn good.
Right, that's why I said that if we ever need a 5th or 6th, 5cc dragon, because stormbreath automatically takes up slots 1-4. Fool summed it up perfectly, and at worst he's a guaranteed "chump" blocker to buy koth an extra turn.
There's no way that Mirrorwing will dethrone Stormbreath, but it can very possibly shove GDD, our second best 5drop, out of the way. It is also plausible that we can brew up some tech with him, and all the tokens from P&K, and Hangerback Walker.
Thats what i was thinking.. So much white running around that Stormbreath is great. Also dont forget that GDD has menace.. Its awesome attacking into a Kor Firewalker and they go to block and i say... umm it has menace.
Only thing that beats mirrowing is LOTV. Also a the last modern Classic i went to a few weeks ago, the only decks i lost to that i was able to cast STORMBREATH on Mirrowing would have been better (Ad naus didnt care and affinity just chumped and beat me with etched champion... Hello kozilek return in the mainboard)
Been running Skred for about 2 years now, and it's definitely gone through a lot of changes based on the meta. I moved to San Francisco last year and came back to visit my family in Cincinnati this week so I decided to visit the old stomping grounds and make everyone miserable with Skred-Red once again. It's been too long since they've felt the heat from mono-red control as I nuke their 'yard and creatures and grind them to dust beneath Koth's heel.
Here's the Dragon-Skred variant I've been running:
-21 Snow-Covered Mountain
-2 Scrying Sheets
-4 Lightning Bolt
-4 Skred
-2 Magma Jet
-3 Anger of the Gods
-1 Volcanic Fallout
-3 Relic of Progenitus
-2 Blood Moon
-1 Molten Rain
-1 Banefire
-4 Boros Reckoner
-4 Thunderbreak Regent
-4 Stormbreath Dragon
-4 Koth of the Hammer
Last Friday I went 4-1, beat Esper Control, White Weenie, Jund Loam, and Bant CoCo, lost to GR Valakut-Titans or whatever. It was basically Scapeshift without...Scapeshift. Yesterday I went 4-0, beat Jund Loam, Naya Hatebears, Naya Burn, and Bant Knight-Combo. I was on stream for one of the matches against Jund Loam but can't seem to find it now, if I do I'll put it up.
This thing dodges bolt and our own angers, Pretty much we will cast it for RRevery time...discards our hand of lands and demigods, Extra blood moons and any other trickery we can add. It is a great Topdeck and a great way to break stalls especially against jund, grixis,
Let see Non magical land of turns on the draw
T1 Bolt
T2 Skred (or Pyroclasm)
T3 Blood Moon
T4 Anger, Skred
T5 Koth -2 drop 3/4 Blocker and discard the demigod i had in opening hand and 2 extra lands i drew the extra blood moon and another skred
I didn't think of Nahiri wrath in demigod builds. That might be better than faithless looting.....
I'll experiment with it I've already got 4 of each card on preorder
People tend to forget Tormod's Crypt. It really is an amazing card.
I'm not sure any build technically NEEDS Relics, but you will lose a fair number of games without MD GY hate. If you're willing to give up game 1, Tormod's Crypt is perfectly valid in the SB (as mentioned by cksboy15). In fact, Crypt is probably stronger, once you know it will be useful. Obviously, its being a non-cantrip makes it less good in the MD. But I actually play Crypt in my Sun Titan SB, since it is one-sided and very good at what it does.
Just my 2cents, you can easily play around the relics even if you run demigods and gdds in the same list, especially if you're the one controlling the relics.

Wow... could be amazing finisher for big skred lists, and I believe a must for demigods lists.

Ummm so is demigod of revenge???? thats why i listed that specific list as the version to run this...

My demigod lists run tormod's crypt in the side.
