That was a great report with a lot of insights. How did you feel Skred itself was? I'm lately not as impressed by it, and thinking Abrades might be better in many cases. Not sure if the mana efficiency or high end is more useful though.
Mortars has been tried. It fell out of favor versus Roast because Reality Smasher and Angler were very popular. Their relative decline versus Hollow One might indicate it's time to reconsider that preference. Hitting flyers is also relevant.
Hi, how's the match versus jund bbe and mardu pyromancer?
Have you played against UR Breach yet? how to tackle this deck.
and one more doubt: do not you think simian guide spirit is better than a mundo Stone? because you can do blood turn 2 or even 1.
The Jund matchup depends on your build of the deck. Mind Stone is incredibly vulnerable in the matchup, so if you see a lot of Jund and are having trouble trouble beating them, I recommend cutting it in favor of Magma Jet. As for Mardu Pyromancer, this matchup is a bit weird. It feels 50/50 to me, but I don't have very much experience with it to give a definite answer. As for Mind Stone vs. SSG, the debate has settled that while SSG allows for some explosive starts, it simply doesn't do enough. Blood Moon should not be your main win condition, and as such it is not what we should build our deck around. Some turn two 4 drops are cool, but the chances of that are low. It is better to run Mind Stone if you want mana ramp because it is consistent and can cycle or be sacrificed to P&K, albeit very expensively

Mardu feels favored, almost very favored to me. We play main deck gravehate, main deck sweepers, and almost a dozen spot removal cards. Pyromancer shouldn't even untap. Skred deals with Reveler at an amazing rate. Our threats are very difficult for them to answer. Stormbreath only gets hit by Terminate. Hazoret is unkillable. Our walkers are hard for them to interact with outside of burning them out since we're so efficient at clearing their board. Sideboard makes these games better typically, bring in more removal. Molten Rain seems fine in taking them off of a color. More sweepers/Ratchet Bomb are good too. We just out grind this deck, and they're not a deck that is prime to have any type of explosive start.
Recently dusted this deck off, made some quick meta changes (lot of Company Decks and Affinity around me, relatively little Tron or Blue decks) and went a relatively light work 3-1.
Beat Elves, Counters Company, and Mardu Pyro. Lost to Infect on two very strong draws from them so I'm unsure how to judge that matchup. Played a split of Abrade in the MB and Roast in the SB because I couldn't find my Dismembers. Never drew Abrade but the Roast was very subpar(could not respond to EoT Companies or Chords, also my Elves opponent drew both Selfless Spirit and Barrenton Forge Tender against me). I've enjoyed Chandra, Flamecaller as another sweeper a lot. Might not be optimal but the card is fun. Probably want a Kozilek's Return somewhere in my board. Pretty happy with how my 75 ended up as I was scrambling to figure out how to deal with a meta where I'm not playing against at least 2 GDS players an event.
Also, when does Goblin Rabblemaster get sided in? I’m new to the deck, so any tips and pointers would be greatly appreciated.
Edit- How do we battle Kor Firewalker? Ratchetbomb?
Rabblemaster for when you need to close the game out ASAP because you can't effectively stop a combo and opponent does not play many blockers. For example, against Lantern, Storm, Ad Nauseum. I've also brought it in versus UW control just to increase threat density.
Against Kor Firewalker we have many answers: Kozilek's Return, Pyrite Spellbomb, Ratchet Bomb, Dismember, Eternal Scourge to block, Thopter Tokens to block, Batterskull to block (though it has fallen out of favor). I've also been able to outrace a Kor Firewalker with Stormbreath and some support.
I played Skred in the Team Constructed event at SCG Atlanta.. I was expecting Humans, affinity, Mardu Pyro, spirits, company, Hollow One, Burn, etc...
I went 0-4, Lost all 8 games... My worst showing ever with Skred or any deck. I faced
Grixis Death Shadow (game one i messed up so my fault...) 0-2
Game 2 - UW Control NO JACE - NEW TERFERI 0-2
Game 3 - Bogles 0-2 (He even said he had perfect christmas land hands to voltron out each time)
Game 4 - Jund 0-2 - I cracked my relic to early and my have punted.
We dropped after that..i was really sad i couldnt help our team. In fact had we won the 2nd match we probably would have been in the Winners bracket and i would have face more of what i expected.
Even in the end 40% of the top 32 were humans... I think it was a right meta call, just unlucky matches.
All those matches are on the lower side of favorites.
We can race with Goblin Rabblemaster and our other creatures or hose them with cards like Relic of Progenitus, Grafdigger's Cage, Damping Sphere, or Pithing Needle, depending on the combo, or a combination of slowing them with the aforementioned cards while racing them. Depending on the combo what density it's in in your meta, and how well it applies to the rest of your meta, Ricochet Trap can be pretty sweet. It all comes down to the situation that you're in. In the end, our options against some linear combos are not great or nonexistent, but that's just something that you have to deal with when playing Skred.
I’m sure it’s been discussed before, but are we choosing Mind Stone over Coldsteel Heart for the late game draw power? We rarely use the colorless mana the turn we play Mind Stone so the ETB tapped for Coldsteel is irrelevant in my opinion.
A hardcast Spitebellows can go on blocking duty and can take down a X/12 Bogle
Spitebellows is pretty bad against Bogles because 6 mana is a lot, most of their creatures cant be targeted and these that can grow super fast. Also they pack a lot of first strike, trample and unblockable.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance got nerfed, what do you think of it?
Also there can be more planeswalkers now which gives for weight to this aspect
redirecting her + doesn't come up that often to begin with, don't think the nerf is big enough to reconsider her in the deck. card is nutty regardless.

The nerf comes up often against liliana and turned what used to be a super favorable position into a pretty unfavorable one. But I do agree that she is still nuts on our deck
So I keep hearing and seeing more and more about KCI-combo, but was never paired against the deck. Has anybody here actually played against it? As it's a combo-deck, I figure the matchup is pretty tough for us, but not as tough as Ad Nauseam, since it relies on the graveyard somewhat and we can remove the artifacts.

...nice secret tech
I'll try to play this list hopefully next week. I'd play an extra sweeper in place of maybe one Magma Jet. Could be an Anger, or a Pyroclasm.
Has anyone tried Mizzium Mortars ? I feel like the 4 damage could be relevant in a lot of instances, it's ok early and it seems great late game.
