So with lots of tron, I'm thinking of dropping 1x skred, 1 mind stone and 2x angers for 4x stone rains main. I run 4x molten rain in side but still 2 tron matches kill me. I'd slot 2 angers I side but ATM I feel with my meta LD package is a must from me to thrive. I've been playing Ponza a lot but I'd love to get on some Skred
Guys any new feedback on playing both SSG and mindstone? I don't have SSG's yet and I'm still not sure if I should make the purchase. But it seems enticing to just have 2 SSG's main board and play 22 lands. I find myself flooded often, but maybe it's just bad luck
So I might have played the trashiest iteration I've ever touched this last Monday. Sadly I didn't get to play out the last round and ultimately ended 2-0-1, but had a blast doing it.
Matches were:
2-1 against RG Ponza
Hiding behind Bridge game 3, I managed to land Karn and hold down the board until Obliterate locking down the board with Karn out sealed the deal.
2-1 against BW Bears
My loss here came from getting land screwed game 2. Otherwise, pretty standard match; Anger kills just about everything, and Koth ultimate is game.
Round 3 would have been against Gifts Storm, but rounds 1 and 2 had gone to time and my daughter was getting cranky. We agreed to a prize split while also agreeing on a grudge match on a later date.
It felt weird maxing out both SSG and Mind Stone, but having 8 ways to cheat out a walker on turn 3 felt okay. Ultimately, Mind Stone becomes a midgame cantrip, so it was never really dead.
Karn did work, but most of my wins were on the back of Chandra. Even though I didn't have Eternal Scourge, Chandra won multiple games by herself. Koth often read "+1: Add R to your mana pool", but the ability to -2 into Karn or Obliterate is real.
Obliterate was a sideboard piece from the last time I played this months back when I was seeing Jeskai Control and Mono-U Tron in the meta. I enjoy the card much more than I should, and in slower local meta, I love the idea of closing out a match against blue control by blowing up everything.
The board definitely needs a bit of tweaking. I'm looking to include a couple Ratchet Bomb and, despite my better judgment, a 3rd Obliterate. I'm also considering moving the 4th Moon to the board in favor of the 3rd Relic.
What is the opinion on splashing Black in the deck for discard spells and Fatal Push over Lightning Bolt ?
I'm against it ideologically. Skred should be mono-red. You want green, play Ponza or something; you want white, play a prison deck; etc.
But as splashes go, black for discard is what makes the most sense to me. At least it gives us something to do on turn one and a stronger game against non-creature-based combo. I don't think I'd take out bolt for Fatal Push, though. I like the reach and we kill creatures fine anyway.
I like the previous guys idea of ramping to planeswalkers and obliterate.. Especially though i'd be looking at a build with Purphoros, God of the Forge and planeswalkers since he can survive the board wipe.
I also like the planes walker/Obliterate plan. Sort of a mono-red version of the old school Erhnamgeddon deck. It would also work with a splash for another color and basically any 4-mana planes walker who wins the game by ultimating (Nahiri, Sarkhan Vol) as an alternative to Karn.
Karn was surprisingly effective alongside Obliterate, but he's also a solid drop in general. While he's not coming down on turn 3 and eating everything like in Tron, he can come down as early as turn 4 (not likely, but it could happen) and given our ability to control the board, he can keep the giant threats away while also eat cards out of their hand. If nothing else, he's a giant lightning rod, but all of his abilities are relevant.
I guess it's also not uncommon. Your build has multiple ways to get to 7 or 8 on T4.
T3 is even possible, but you need 3 mountains, 2 SSG, Mind Stone, Koth, and Karn all in your first 9 cards. And you need Koth to not get dinged too much.
Hey guys! There was enough interest generated on the Skred Red subreddit, as well as some people I knew personally. Thus, I am ecstatic to officially be starting the channel titled "Skreddit"! This first video is a podcast style for a series titled "Skred Talks". Upcoming videos will be more Skred Talks (various topics), playtesting different variants against different matchups, and (once I can afford to buy into it) MTGO tournaments! Any constructive criticism is welcome, but if you enjoy the content, it would mean the world to me if you would help me start getting the channel out there more by subscribing and potentially sharing.

Thanks for your reply
1) How many 5-drops can this deck run actually? I'm running 3 currently, using 22 lands and 4 mindstones. I sometimes struggle to end games because I can deal with any threat my opponents play, but am unable to find one of my own.
3) You're probably right, I think I will play 2 Roasts main... I'll probably move the ratchet bomb to the sideboard and switch it with the roast that was already there. That card has been excellent lately.
Thanks for the Living End tip! Hadn't thought of it that way yet (I haven't played against Living End very often), so I will bolt that token for sure!
The normal range is 2-4 5-drops. Finding the right balance between threats and answers is a real challenge when building a skred list. It depends a lot on what sort of meta you expect. Looking at your list, adding another Chandra seems like a good idea. It's a flexible card that can be removal or card advantage in addition to putting a clock on your opponent.
I think roast is really good at the moment. Reality Smasher and Tasigur are pretty popular, and the 1 extra damage compared to Mortars can sometimes be relevant against death's shadows and goyfs.
Two mana for five damage is pretty good, and kills a lot of good creatures. Mizzium Mortars is two mana for four damage that can become a boardwipe. Roast is only better for creatures with exactly five toughness. Are there really enough of those to justify the card that's weaker in all other circumstances, given that Skred can itself kill five-toughness creatures?

As always it depends on how the meta is, but nowadays that 1 extra damage makes all the difference. As mentioned there's Tasigur, Angler, Reality Smasher, and a better chance of snatching Goyf or Death's Shadow with Roast. I really like 1/1 split of Roast between Main/Side, but I can also stand behind 1/1 split between Roast and Mortars in the main.
Skred can do 5 damage, but not until turn 5 (given that you got all your landdrops). It obviously performs well late, but not fast enough against certains matchups as the 5-thougness creatures usually comes down turn 3-4.
But it's only exactly one toughness setting for Goyf and Death's Shadow. That's a corner case; certainly less common than having six mana and wanting a board-wipe.
So we're really talking about Reality Smasher and then black delve guys. And it's a sorcery -- so Reality Smasher gets in a whack anyway.
I dunno. Seems like narrow application for a card when you could play something that scales (Mortars) or just play an extra threat.
You'll reconsider when you single handedly lose even one game to a tasigur/angler/goyf/smasher that you couldn't remove because it was out of Skred range.
Eh. Maybe. But my problem isn't that I can't imagine cases where I want Roast, it's wondering if those cases come up often enough. Consider a world where you have 59 cards finalized and are looking for one utility card.
You can pick
Roast
Mizzium Mortars
Magma Jet
Ratchet Bomb
Pyrite Spellbomb
Banefire
Roast is by a fair margin the least versatile of those options, no? It can kill Reality Smasher (though that's still a lousy trade) Tasigur, Angler, and some goyfs and Death's Shadows, plus of course small creatures. Mortars is just as good against creatures up to four toughness and can function as an extra sweeper later in the game. Magma Jet picks off small creatures, filters draws and burns face. Banefire wins games off the top of your deck late and dodges counters. Ratchet Bomb answers Goyfs and Death's Shadow much better than Roast and can sweep against wide decks or solve enchantments and other oddball cards if need be (Kor Firewalker, Eidolon without taking burn, Etched Champion, Phyrexian Obliterator without wiping your board, etc.) Pyrite Spellbomb does some of the stuff Ratchet Bomb does and you can cycle it for an extra draw if need be.
I'm not questioning anyone's knowledge of their own meta, but I'm not a big fan of the card.

someone 5-0'd with it
Something like this:
3x Eternal Scourge
1x Hazoret the Fervent
3x Stormbreath Dragon
Planeswalkers (7)
3x Chandra, Torch of Defiance
4x Koth of the Hammer
Instant (8)
4x Fatal Push
4x Skred
Sorcery (9)
3x Inquisition of Kozilek
3x Thoughtseize
3x Anger of the Gods
4x Coldsteel Heart
Enchantments (3)
3x Blood Moon
Lands (22)
4x Bloodstained Mire
2x Blood Crypt
12x Snow-Covered Mountain
4x Snow-Covered Swamp
3x Nihil Spellbomb
1x Pithing Needle
2x Vandalblast
2x Collective Brutality
2x Ratchet Bomb
2x Terminate
2x Stone Rain
1x Batterskull
#Talisman of Indulgence is a faster ramp option than Coldsteel Heart but is more painful and doesn't contribute to Skred so I'm not sure if it would be better here.
#Engineered Explosives might be better than Ratchet Bomb as well, it might even be cast for 3 with Coldsteel Heart tapping for a 3rd color.
