In other news, got my tracking confirmation for Guilds of Ravnica Mythic Edition boxes, so I'll be replacing my two regular Teferi, Hero of Dominaria with some full art alt art foils, just in time for FNM!
Jealous.
It wasn't easy. I'm glad I had the day off, because while my initial order "went through" (launched nearly an hour after it was supposed to launch), it also never got confirmed and I spent nearly 3 hours waiting for customer support to fix it. They got it all taken care of, and everyone was super nice, they just clearly don't have the staff or resources to deal with these kinds of products.
Jeez, I wish I knew what day that was. But I guess that ship has passed for me. I actually looked at the PWers today and wouldn't mind the Teferi and Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas.

I'm keeping the Teferis and Lilis and probably 1 Elspeth and selling all others. Luckily Tezz is one of the cheaper ones (along with Bolas and Daretti) if you happen to pick one up.
Haven't played in a long time but I'm thrilled with the options UW control currently (finally?) has in modern. I'm currently getting caught up to speed and thinking of playing regularly again, but I had some build questions with the current iterations of this deck (I know a lot of this wont be settled since we are in the first weeks of a new set).
First: How is Gideon of the Trials in the current builds? It seems better than some of the things people are filling the 60 with, so I'm curious as to why these fell out of favor.
Second: How good is the crucible maindeck inclusion? I personally love that angle so I'm probably going to try it out, but was curious to know what its good against and what it isnt.
Finally: Threw this list together as a starting point, are there any obvious faults, glaring omissions, etc. given the current meta? Feel free to give feedback, critique or ignore.
(Sidenote, I'm pretty high on Mission Briefing for all the synergies it seems to have with a deck like this, combined with Snap always being a little "Meh" in these colors.)
I was kinda thinking Gideon would help supplement the removal, but I was also worried he might be hard on the mana or be too slow. Maybe I'll move him to sideboard and add like 1x Timely and 1x Condemn (is this better than Oust?) to the main. Or move/cut the crucible angle.
Gideon is kind of taking up the Clique slot, and I think Clique just kind of fills a need the deck has that Gideon can't. The hand disruption on Clique is vital in control mirrors and against our worst matchup: spell-based combo. Gideon was better in the deck when you had trouble grasping firm control of a game, so you needed to end it before your opponent top decked something that got them back into it. Teferi, Jace, and Azcanta can now shut the door on games like that, so he's less necessary.

Thanks for the feedback, I definitely understand some of the card choices better knowing that meddling mage and spell based combo are real concerns in the meta.
Wasn't able to win anything until I added 2 Secure the Wastes to the main 60. It has done well so far, heding me against midrange and providing a threat while holding up countermagic against combo. Glad to have it. I saw also a list that won an IQ with Secure also in the board, pretty similar to what I'm running now. Teferi #2 hasn't been the sharpest also. Miracles is still clunky though.
I have been liking Nimble Obstructionist. It's a Stone Rain (or other random Stifle effect) in a pinch, or a 3/1 beater, flashed in on end step. I remember trash talking this card when spoiled, but I'm really coming around to our little Stifle Bird. I am currently on 2 main (0 Clique main, 1 side).
I've been playing on MTGO and dredge is literally 50% of my matches over the last 3 days. I'm up to 2 RIP and 2 Relics in my SB as grave hate and have 4 terminus and 1 settle main to help control the board against this ridiculous deck. I've won 2 out of 8 matches against this deck, so sadly my plan is not working very well. I find that in most games I am able to stabilize the board and deal with the creatures, but between chip shot damage from bloodghast, narcomoeba, and creeping chill they always seem to be able to finish the game with a conflagrate. The current dredge build seems to have almost a 0% fail rate, and I'm beginning to wonder if it is even worth countering cathartic reunion since even when I do it doesn't seem to buy much time. Anyone else having any luck or new strategies against recent dredge builds?
I have also played and lost the 2 rounds vs dredge. 2-0 and 2-1.
Dredge is more consistent killing thanks to creeping chill.
At the moment I have removed the supreme verdict for a settle the wreckage in the main. In the side I am thinking about removing the 2nd surgical for another rest in peace, to play 3 in total.
I just don't have surgicals available on my MTGO account, they are pretty pricey online. Even with 4 pieces of grave hate in the side and 4 terminus, 1 settle, and 2 D-sphere main, I keep getting running over by dredge. This deck is really brutal and has me stumped on how to stop it.
Has anyone played with Revitalize ? I always thought about a card like and I have some reasonable expectations about its playability.
This fills a similar role as Wall of Omens and Wall feels much better. The reason you want your life gain cards to draw cards is so that it has some usefulness in non-aggro matchups. Wall is much better in that application because it allows you to use your Path to Exiles as Ramp spells. Wall of Omens is also just a lot better when you draw it early since it will gain you much more than 3 life in the long run.
That said, there are some real upsides to Revitilize being an instant; plays nice with countermagic and snapcaster mage as well as gives you additional ways to trigger a miracle should you have some way to set it up. I don't think the upside is better than wall of omens though, especially looking at the top decks currently.
Hi! I have just finished buying all the cards I needed to play this deck and is currently about to put it together. My problem is, I have too many cards. I have come to a conclusion and decided to play 61 cards (36+25) in the deck but now I'm stuck with 37 cards main board. My question is, what do I tanke out?
Sorry for the layout on the deck here, I'm writing this from my phone. I also have a couple of other cards I think about, either for the sideboard or for the main board. My meta consists of burn, eldrazi, boggle, 8rack, hollow One and storm amongst others.
