It's not necessary, but IMO the best reason to play UW is access to lots of punishment for decks with greedy or fragile mana bases. If I were off Spreading Seas, I'd probably just play Jeskai and have more cheap interaction.

What decks does Spreading Seas punish consistently? Jund, Tron, 5c Mardu Pyromancer? These decks usually get around Seas. Seems to me Seas are very underwhelming in today's meta even laughable.

Sure, the decks you mention can play around 9-10 maindeck land disruption, but not without stumbling. Control is all about making your opponent stumble so you can either resolve a game-winning permanent or lock them down with card advantage. Doing that by targeting a mana base is IMO the best reason to play straight UW. It can let you tap out turn 4 for a Walker even against something like Tron, where otherwise you risk just getting massacred for committing mana on your turn.
I guess I should ask you why you're on U/W? Without the land disruption, I feel like I'd rather be playing Jeskai (or Grixis) almost any day. 1-3 extra Wasteland effects doesn't seem worth the weaker removal suite, although the resilience against Blood Moon is nice.

You just answered it. U/W is more likely to win against a Blood Moon in play and that is saying a lot. More cleaner manabase to properly support more Field of Ruins and other colorless lands.

That's fair; I find that I die to lots of little guys in UW much more than to Blood Moon in Jeskai, but that's largely a meta call.

I need some help on 2 matchups guys : Storm and Ad Nauseam. I find that I'm able to win against aggro 60-70% of the time, but against combo, I'm not doing well. I've tested yesterday and went 0-3 against Ad Nauseam. Post-board, it got better with Dispel and Ceremonious Rejection, but I feel I can't do much because of the expensie spells we play against freebies such as Pact of Negation. Any help to get it going would be appreciated !
The best main deck card you have is Gideon OTT. Stony silence and dispel are the better cards you can play vs ad nauseum. Some decks do have sideboard grave titans though.
Storm boards into a value deck, less reliant on the grave yard, so graveyard hate is okay, but not amazing like a rule of law card would be. They generally try to win with empty post board.
UW is not really a deck you want to be playing if storm and ad nauseum are popular decks.

I'd add to what rickster_ said that Damping Sphere might be a good piece of sideboard tech once DOM drops.

Thanks guys! I'll face both these decks a lot, so I've already have 2 Stony Silence in the side as well as 2 Dispel. 2 Gideon of the Trials in the main also helps a lot, but I'll try the new Sphere also once it comes out!
Thanks for the input guys! I played yesterday to playtest and went 2-0 against Ad Nauseam. I felt good about the deck and made the following changes to the list :
Rule of Law was great and Dispel also. Detention Sphere was okay too. The matchup is not good, but not abysmal also.
And, a question for you : I might add either a Jace the Mind Sculptor or a Colonnade to the deck. If you were to choose just one of them, which one would you add to the list? Thanks
Well, fist of all, I would remove all the Seachrome Coast. Typically that card is not as good in a control style deck. I would look to add a Celestial Colonnade and a Mystic Gate in those spots. Secondly, I would remove the Dragonlord Ojutai and add the Jace. However, if you feel that strongly about the Dragonloard, I would not add the Jace, and I would change that Mystic Gate spot to a Minamo, School at Water's Edge
I just think that with the Colonnades already entering tapped, you don't want to have more ETB tapped lands than you need. Just my thoughts though

Thanks for the answer ! I've shopped around to get an extra Celestial Colonnade as well as Jace the Mind Sculptor. I'll be running 3 Colonnade and 1 Jace, cutting Dragondlord and the 2 Seachrome!
I hink you'll be happier with this set up once you start playing with it. Dragonlord is an awesome card but at 5 mana, it's hard to cast, often times you have to tap too low and just get blown out, and without the Minamo he doesn't look all that impressive.
Just wondering what problems you're trying to solve with those cards? I'm never against Esper Charm. I'm just wondering whats causing you enough problems that you feel like you want/need these cards.
I’ve also been trying a small Black (or Red) splash for 4 additional spot removal. Personally I think it’s a strong adjustment, but I’m not so sure I’d want to make that concession for the cards you mentioned. Esper Charm is good but hard to cast on-curve if you’re conservatively splashing Black with the 5-6 colorless lands we ususally play. Souls I guess is good if you feel like you need board advantage, but I’ve never really felt like that was something I wanted to shore up with these lists.

Souls is good for stalling the board for Jace and starting a clock. Charm gives a lot of utility mostly blowing up opposing SFA, and drawing extra cards, or wrecking their hand with a snapcaster when you don't need to hit SFA.
