Was at Grand Prix Dc yesterday, just playing in the Turbo Town side event thing. One match at a time. Went 5-2! Some thoughts:
Tons of people playing blue. I realize that that kind of side event invites more janky crap, but I played against
Jeskai Nahiri--won; Turn 1 Blood Moon in game 1. Turn 1 Chandra in game 2. Just gross.
Jeskai Thing in the Ice/Bedlam Reveler-won
Jeskai Ascendancy/Fatestitcher--lost
Jeskai Control--lost, he had too many answers
weird mono black Death Shadow/8-rack thing--won
8-rack--won, turn 1 Chalice in games 2 & 3 got lightning fast scoops
and now I can't remember the last match
Mostly stock list w/ 2 Ballistas, 2 P&K, 1 Glorybringer, no Chainwhirlers
SB had Boil (which was awesome), Torpor Orb (which was more than awesome), Koth, Angers, Eidolons, etc., no Damping Matrix
I need help with:
when to bring in Koth and Haz, especially against all those blue decks?
what are the typical/best times to use Spellskite's ability?
People REALLY don't like playing against it. They get all peeved at T1 Blood Moon or Chalice. Tough tooties. I've spent years getting blown out by unfair decks doing broken stuff. Let them deal with Pyro Prison for a while.
Oh yeah--Eldrazi Taxes. That was the last match. Completely wrecked him. Blood Moon was all I really needed. So fun seeing Eldrazi Temple and 3 Ghost Quarters all just giving him nice red mana.

About time. Took winning the titanium 1K, open top 4, classic top 8, several IQ top 8s, including a win, getting published every week on mtgo, face to face games top 8, and making top 32 of the modern challenge 6 weeks in a row, including. Top 4, 9th, and 10th places. Not to me too this forun with over 2000 comments and fluffy getting almost 500 followers on twitch and he streams primarily this deck. What an effort.
ROARING CHEERS OF EXULTATION ECHO ACROSS THE MOUNTAIN
#79 --- We have earned our place in the pantheon of top-tier decks as the 79th archetype in 'Established Decks' of MTGsalvation
A special thank you goes out to the 'Ambassador of Pyro Prison' Fluffywolf, for compiling and time/date stamping with hyperlinks all of our qualifying wins and submitting them to the Moderators which helped in the ruling. Russell Collosi and I, Ray Karkman, have tagged a few Top 8s in premier events, others have scored singletons as well (not to mention all the other accolades listed by Russ in the previous post), and Fluffy himself crafted a decklist which has earned (2) recent Top 8s in 100+ competitor events...with that confounded dragon -
Well.....I'll close my victory speech here. Mountain hugs to all that have contributed their wisdom around our campfire - couldn't have happened without the mountainfolk. Although I did most of the heavy lifting in deck creation, there ain't no 'I' in TEAM. It only takes 1 mis-selected card or 1 misplay to separate a competitor from his win - all kin should take pride in the collective lab-work that culminated in this accomplishment. A village.
And so, I am reminded of the words sung by the prolific Jimi Hendrix. "Well, I Stand Up Next to a Mountain. And, I Chop it Down with the Edge of my Hand."
We did that chopping as a village. That's what happened today.
What a great belated birthday present for me! Proud of everyone here for all the time and dedication that they put into testing, playing, and perfecting this beautiful archetype. I'm glad to be a part of this great community!
Just wanna say that my set of Unhinged Mountains are in the mail! Thanks for all the Basic enthusiasm.
Also, a little late to report, but I 3-0’d this past FNM, 6-1 in games!
My match ups were Humans (2-0), Amulet Titan (2-0), and Grixis Shadow (2-1). All pretty favorable matchups, but the number of decks that just fold to ours is crazy.
Went down to 3x Ramunap to better suit 1x mainboard Koth, as well as 2x MB Chainwhirlers which made for a lot of dead humans and mana dorks.
Thank you everyone for the sweet deck, feels good to be a part of this whole thing.
I think of putting some white on the deck to be able to use leyline of sanctity and removal of enchantments as well as rest in peace that punishes a lot of mardu pyromancer, jeskai, grixis, bgx and any decks use grave, what do you think? I played a tournament where I caught 3 mardu followed and lost for all of 2x0, it was sad. kkk
I made the same comment in the 8rack forum and the purists went crazy kekekeke, in the case the 8rack suffers for leyline and chalice, but face chalice without anything to do, leyline hoping in luck to buy 2-3 delirium skein is bad.
So I come to raise this question, the deck will continue to be pyro only the side that has a bit of white, my intuition is to improve the deck, I know that it is very beautiful, the whole red deck is pure but be logical we are denying a possible possibility of improve bad matches in favor of keeping purists in the red. I think that's bad.
I intend to do some testing this week if possible and share with you.

Thank you Torpf and the mod team. I don't know how often you hear from the community that you move their thread around, but I can tell you the discord has lit up, here it is extremely positive, and the community was actually sharing about 5 - 6 different versions of our deck going into the Challenge (Hats off to Hatch22 showing us which version we may need to pursue going forward).

What crazy Dragon? ;):p - Just cause we are bringing "Glory to Red" doesn't mean we gotta call'em Crazy!
Congrats all, the mods took into consideration a write up I gave them, but I would not doubt that by putting this into them they put the deck on their radar. You can't sell a deck as established if every week it shows "FluffyWolf2" as the 5-0 list. In fact, I couldn't be happier to see the decklists showing up that did not have my name next to them. It showed I'm not some dumb lucky Dragon crazy wolf, and that the deck has legs. To see the exact 75's and then versions slightly different with our flex spots really propelled without a doubt this deck for the mods. I want to also shout out the GP Birmingham list. One of the larger selling points that I have pushed also, which may have helped was we are across 'Two Formats.'
The other decks to span the Modern & Legacy formats at this posting are (I'm not a legacy buff, so take this list with a bit of a grain of salt):
Mainstream: Jund Mono-Red Prison (16 cards different at one point + lands) Reanimator Eldrazi Stompy/Eldrazi - Modern does a E-Tron/Tron, Legacy does a RB version Affinity - Steel Stompy in Legacy Dredge Death & Taxes Variants Abzan Midrange Decks Elves Merfolk Goblins - I'll even toss this one in here 8-Whack is a real deck for sure. Storm Infect
Fringe:
Miracles - Jace is trying to help people do Miracles in Modern
Delver - Could Wizards push a 'Delver Build' for Modern? (We'll exclude Treasure Cruise times due to ban)
What I think is cool here is that someone fluctuating between these formats can find a deck that is vastly similar style and gameplan. I use Pauper as a prime example. There are certainly decks that just don't translate, but overall archetypes "Control", "Aggro", "Midrange" - The second tier of this is specific deck types within the archtypes.

I'm curious which bad matchups we think get better with the addition of white? Yes, we get stony silence, leyline, and rest in peace, but lose a significant part of our aggro plan by ading thos cards. Interested to see what you discover in testing. I'm not married to the only red plan, it just felt like the best way to go.
I also thought about playing a tiny splash of black for infernal tutor. Demonic tutor could be good, no?
Ambassador,Professor,Historian....Fluffy! I tidieed up the official primer, now that we're in the spotlight, and formatted in your Sideboard Guide and recent Top 4 decklist properly under the headings.
@Skrimbot Ahoy, and nice work on that 6-1 performance. A full set of Unhinged, you say? Shiny.
Hi All,
Been lurking around for a while. I’ll be at SCGCON with a few buddies in a week and a half. I’ll be doing side events and The Classic. Love the back and forth and the ideation that goes on every day.
I plan on running a stock list at SCGCON to lock down and burn away the soul of the competition.
I do a Tuesday Night Magic pretty much 3x’s a month. My list is fairly generic.
I’m having a heck of a time beating a UR Control heavy meta. Out of a typical 20-25 guys and girls a night, there are probably 4-5 UR Control players hanging around. That doesn’t even count the Storm or Jeskai Control players. I’m decent at our favorable matches and I love to bear down and try to break free on our unfavorable matches, but losing to UR Control is awful. It feels like I'm slightly worse than 45/55 game 1, then I'm lucky if I'm 10/90 SB.
Any thoughts on how to break the shackles and make them prisoners?

Nice! Look me up. I'll be playing in the main event, the invitational playing almoat the exact same list, minus one abrade and plus one walking ballista. Also, I play boil over molten rain.
For the ur matches, there's a different approach to it depending on the build. Assuming there's no breach emrakul, start by taking out bridges, and at least two moons. Put in 3 eidolon, hazoret, spell skite, torpor orb, let me know how it goes. If they are playing emrakul, then keep bridges and take out abrades and slags and two moons.
I also thought about playing a tiny splash of black for infernal tutor. Demonic tutor could be good, no?
Bingo!!! maybe this will balance the game more. Maybe Mastermind's Acquisition is better than Demonic tutor, The problem is the cost BB. I have used infernal tutor in 8rack and it has been great, but I only use 1 copy.
White splash a Pyro Prison list, and you get Sun and Moon. DrMarkB heads up that thread, and does a helluva job as the host. Hit him up
Sun and moon is not what I want, I just want some other color on the side, I do not want to change the main, I think main has been strong, much stronger than sun and moon, but I want to improve the responses of the side.

I don't know. I was just thinking about tormenting voice and how it can lose you a game sometimes, then I was like...there are so many games where you need to topdeck the right card at the right time, if there was only a tutor in modern....wait, there is! Shame there is no red tutor in modern. I think we would play it.
Do you know I first suggested and tested Librarian? check my posts several months ago. It was GREAT when it worked, but here's the problem.....if you are spending a turn casting that, then you are not spending a turn on an aggro piece, lock piece, or killing something. when it resolved and stuck around, games ended under it's weight (and books are heavy), but when you were behind, it was often too slow to make a difference. Don't let the exile 4 random cards fool you, the card was nuts when it worked, but sadly, it wasn't fast enough to make the cut.
Oh, almost forgot, fixing what you exile with chandra was also pretty cool.
