Possible one-shot sideboard card for the control matchup?
Generally we don't cast that many spells per turn so the first half isn't really there. As for the second half there are better ways to win once you have a high life total. It doesn't really add a new angle to the deck
I'll try to find for him 2 slots in SB or 1/1 with Eidolon of rhrtoric. This guy is really insane against Storm and Burn decks. Probably he's the Eidolon that had should been with lifegane.
I've never liked Canonist because she just eats a bolt and then they keep going. With this, you at least get the 4 point life swing if he gets Bolted. 3 mana is annoying, but if you get there, a lot of decks just get wrecked. I'll probably pick it up to try in the board.
I think the same way but sometimes 2 and 3 mana can be very important especially if you play on draw\turn. Also Hawk is playing monoW with Sun titan where Canonist can feel much more comfortable when without them.
Also Canonis\Eidolon can hate some other decks like Ad nauseam, Goryo reanimator ant etc. while Kambal is usefull against most popular decks among them (except Ad Nauseam) and in meta in total.
To be honest with him and new 1BB Cranial effect card spoilered I even thought to go back to BW colors.
Not sure that it's right way to do but I'll test it anyway.
Soul Sisters works scarily well in GW Sisters, based on people I've talked to. It seems garbage here, since the only thing that it would hit that Ranger can't is Squadron Hawk.
I think Eidolon is still the best combo hater, but I really like the new guy, too.
I feel like it gives us a pretty powerful tool against a lot of decks that we're weaker against, and, in addition to Runed Halo, we can often already gain enough life to use it naturally. Nahiri also seems like it's already a strong card for us, and slots in pretty well here. Thoughts?
It seems useful in basically any matchup where our opponent isn't actively pressuring our life total. While it might prove too slow, it gives us a reasonable tool against combo, tron, Jund, and it requires a counter spell/PTE from control decks. At least, that's the theory anyway
Debate about how often you will end up losing to your own spells aside my main issue with it is that there are numerous other decks that can just jam it with a platinum Emperion, never lose life, and use the spell significantly better. I don't think we gain anything by trying to make a cheap imitation of that.
31 white cards really isn't that bad, particularly since we still have access to Squad Hawk, Nahiri, and Ranger. It might still not be enough, but I'm not really convinced that we want Emperion here, as it doesn't win games nearly as quickly, is more vulnerable, and isn't a good hit for Nahiri's ultimate. For the most part, it looks like something that shines against aggro anyway, which is pretty much the opposite of what we want.
Emperion is terrible in proc, it stops you from gaining life. My point was that other decks (like say for example RG through the breach) can just slam an emperion on turn 3, which is significantly better than hitting a blightsteel on turn 4 that deals 17 damage to you.
The number of decks where I would willingly pay 17 life to potentially kill them in the following 1-2 turns are exactly: Infect, Ad Nauseam
That is only if I could guarantee the it would deal me 17 damage, and not more (because it will kill you 10-40% of the time depending on fetches, shocks, number of martyrs drawn, number of white cards in hand)
My point is entirely that this isn't the deck for the spell.
Guys, you can prevent damage with Runed halo if you want.
But I don't really see any use for this combo bcs it doesn't improve any of our bad match ups.
Jund has lightning bolt, so I would prefer to not do the other 17 myself. Besides that they have quite a bit of early drops that pressure us, combined with discard spells to reduce the amount of life gained off martyr. Historically I've done fine against BGx decks and this essentially is just adding a fragile combo as a means of fighting against a deck that is very good against fragile combos (the combo is Runed halo naming one of our own cards, or martyr and enough white spells to maybe not immediately die, not drawing blightsteel, having nahiri if you do). I don't even want to think about relying on runed halo against a deck with maindeck abrupt decays. Surprise, Abrupt decay is now a 2 mana instant speed 17 damage burn spell.
Lets now assume you always don't die from casting it. Blightsteel now has to dodge liliana for a few turns. You also have to worry about attacking then dying to the crackback.
Not sure what you mean by "combo", but melira coco doesn't really care about this, storm doesn't really care about this (they can just short storm you after you get it into play), Grishoalbrand is way faster than this and it opens up new lines of victory for them, combo elves is way faster than this (but incidentally basically never wins through finite damage so maybe it is good there), Ad nauseam is weak to this for sure 100% agree with you there.
I'm super medium about a turn 4 blightsteel against tron. That means you haven't ghost quartered them and they have access to a more consistent stream of "blightsteel type" cards. Sure, they have only karn to deal with it, but the further past turn 4 you get with this, the more likely it is that they have karn.

i like it, it can kill most match ups in most situations.
no way you can combo to 50 or more life even with marytr in 3 turns and turn 4 for the win.

So far I've come up with the following list
4x Arid Mesa
4x Flagstones of Trokair
3x Ghost Quarter
3x Marsh Flats
2x Mistveil Plains
5x Plains
3x Sacred Foundry
2x Blightsteel Colossus
2x Kami of False Hope
4x Martyr of Sands
4x Ranger of Eos
2x Serra Ascendant
4x Squadron Hawk
3x Madcap Experiment
2x Proclamation of Rebirth
3x Wrath of God
Instant (4)
4x Path to Exile
Enchantment (3)
3x Runed Halo
Planeswalker (3)
3x Nahiri, the Harbinger
