So So! But i really love FulminatoR! I think the better choice is put Ricochet Trap back in sideboard. I really have problems against UW (Rest In Peace is so good).
After strong start 4:1 I tanked to 4:4 I was really sad, but at least I got valuable experiences from it. And I healed on sunday side event, so at least thats something
Round 1: bye (yeah almost like a pro )
Round 2: first match and deck I really havent heard about in a while. Eldrazi death and taxes. First game easy win, second game I lose to double flashback lingering souls, third game i respond to rest in peace with street wraiths, ssgs and outburst. Op isnt happy since he probably mulled to find RiP.
2:1
Round 3: lost to UW control. Really hate that deck. First game he taps out for jace, so i cast dread on my earlier fulminator, only for him show me miracle terminate. Second game I had really bad draws, drawing too many living ends, zero traps, quickly die to colonade.
0:2
Round 4 Win against Vengevine. First game he shows me power of multiple bridges from bellow. Second game i start with Leyline and quick cascade. 3rd game we both mull for Leyline and keep worse hands, but really Leyline is the card that wins this matchup. Opp starts with leyline and 1 land, casts one looting and then only one drops. I start with leyline and bunch of cyclers, hard cast Street wraith on turn 4 to stop his attacks, cast second Leyline after he destroys my first, and wait until hardcasted archfiend takes over the game. After game he shows me 3 vengevines in hand but leylines held them at bay.
2:1
Round 5: Win against burn. Irronically, fulminator save me both games where after surviving to cascade, i destroyed 1 white source and he only had boros charms and helixes in hand.
2:0
Round 6: Affinity. This is where it went south. First game goes back and forth but eventually i loose to unblockable champion and ravager combo. Second game I keep ok hand with possible turn 2 cascade. he starts with nothing, only 2 creatures and no preassure so i decide to wait for something bigger to kill since i can add more beef to my grave. sadly, i only had demonic dread and on turn 4 he casts RiP which i have no answer to (really didnt expect that from affinity).
1:2
Round 7-8 I lost to boggles and DS. I was a little tilted and my deck knew that and started showing me crazy hands and topdecks as always when I feel down.
Pretty sad story. But I got some valuable lessons:
Leyline of the void - in the current meta I would be always running 4. Vengevine/hollow one are strong and quick. And this card is only thing that can stop them. Also, maindeck Macabres should be 2 or 3 in this meta. Stealing game one with one well timed macabre happens all the time.
Fulminator mage - this may be the weakest card right now. I realized after tournament, that in many matches i kept fulminators in and instead sided out my beast withins, where i should be doing opposites. Even against UW, because of the field of ruin, they play so many basics that thay really didnt give any targets for fulminator. Instead, i lost many games to gravehate without answer with useless fulminators. Only decks against they are allstars are tron and scapeshift right now, so i will probably test moving all fulminators to my sideboard.
Mulliganing - I learned to be a little more agresive with my mulligans. Especially in matchups without discard. Too many times I lost because i kept a hand without cascade or with fulminator and too few cyclers feeling i would draw it. But its better to mull to six be sure to cascade than to be sorry.
Metagame - think Le olde LE is in great shape expect with UW control. Jace brought terminus back and thats really a *****, since your traps do absolutely nothing. Also they run so many basics that fulminator loose its power too, only beast within has some reach. But if you can avoid them in tournaments, with a little luck, you should be fine.
What is our best game plan against UW Vial Spirits? They seem to basically be pre-sideboarded against us with the graveyard-exiling spirit and Mausoleum Wanderers, with the addition of Spell Queller postboard, I just don't feel good about any plan!
Has anyone had success with a particular strategy vs them; Mulligan decisions, etc? Makes me wanna jam Raking Canopy or something else that just hoses fliers.
I have been gone from this thread and deck for a bit, as the last few sets did not really bring much to the table for our list. Now that preview season is here, can we talk about how excited I am for Molderhulk (and really most of the golgari stuff in this set)and the possibilities contained within. Anyone formulate any thoughts around this? I do not think it is unreasonable to pull this off turn 3 and return a fetch from the yard to have mana ready.
Yeah I was lucky I picked playset of leylines years ago and was shocked with theirs price today.
Looks good but no ignot chewers in side? I use them way too often to leave them out. But I agree, beast within maybe the best card right now....end of turn beast on land is my favorite play
And seeing UW plays lots of basics now, it may be the key.

I wanted to call it a win more but it's not even that. If you have the creatures to cast this you haven't LE'd so it would just get LE'd away. If you haven't LE'd then your probably looking for a cascader, which means you'd rather see a cycler to dig than a land. If you draw this after LE'ing than your not going to have the cost reduction and the land isn't as usefull.
I'm waiting for people to recommend Assassin's Trophy over Beast Within with a straight face. That or Mausoleum Secrets, saying that it searches for a cascader with 3+ creatures in the grave.
Spoiler season outside of a cycling set can be trying at times.

I am incorporating again a pair of brindle boars on the Sideboard, because my local spots have been flooded by burn players... Does somebody knows what other matchups can i bring them? they take so much space in the SB only for 1 matchup...
Depending on the build I sometime bring them in for Grixis Pyromancer (they get me out of Snap-bolt-snap range) or other aggressive decks where 4 life is buying a turn or two for me to stabilize and or win, Death's Shadow decks come to mind.

Watched a few of this guys matches on camera. He played really well and had a few main deck inclusions that probably was a good call for the meta for this SCG. Cool to see him win for sure.

spoiler season and it seems there is no addition to this deck.
i wonder if this is usable in this deck? surveil is kinda nice to have but i wonder if its necessary.

Ari Lax was talking about this card on Twitter when it was spoiled. It will be interesting to test. The upside can potentially put 10+ power in the graveyard and draw you a cycler.

Well, after an ordeal to get the Curse/Twitch account merge, (and a 4+ years break from MTG), I finally got back into MTGs.
Last friday went to FNM (4-0) with our deck (List later) and wanted to do a little report.
R1 - Mardu Pyromancer: G1 went smoothly as I had double cascade to meet a Thoughtseize. After it, fatties hit. G2 kept a one lander with a sole swamp but wraith, cascade, ceradon, horror, kolaghan and anger. Was put into a bit of pressure as the second land was yet another basic swamp but a timely shriekmaw to kill pyro and a fulminator off LE to kill his sole form of recasting lingering souls was enough
R2- Jeskai control. G1 went smoothly as triple fulminator, a beast within and a faerie macabre kept him off both mana and active azcanta. G2 again a one one lander full of gas. When noted that oponent was land screw (didnt found fourth for wrath), chained all 4 wraith till the land, LE with fulminator (discarded) on yard for the win.
R3 humans. Short G1 got crushed. G2 we both mulled, a T2 meddling Mage for LE was met with a shriekmaw into t3 wrath and game. G3 he went to 5 and couldnt do much.
R4 merfolks. Easy win, specially when no spreading seas appear.
Since the deck is roughly half creatures, Discovery will end up milling 1 creature and drawing a card on average. That's comparable to cycling an Archfiend of Ifnir (without any guarantee that the milled creature is as good as Archfiend). The more creatures you cut for Discovery, the less likely you are to hit at least 1 creature with it.
If the other surveiled card is a creature or something that you don't need, then Discovery is better than any cycler.

Might be a bust, might be decent.
I dunno...I think this deck doesnt want noncreature spells too much...whats it gonna be? for 2 mana you can get 2 creatures instantly to your grave and draw 2 cards or use sorcery speed getting most of the time 1 or maybe 2 creatures in your grave and draw 1 card? yeah, no thanks...
But I love that list! It has everything i want in and even finds space for dead/gone. That will be my base list now for sure!
Glad you liked my list
In hindsight I was just "okay" with it, I wasn't particularly happy with dead//gone but felt that I had to pick a direction to hedge in as oppose to spreading myself too thin. The decision was between that or slaughter games, so in a sense, I was okay with dead//gone even though it felt like the weakest card in my 75.
The biggest issue though was the amount of burn floating around. The black leylines were new this weekend and I was previously on white leylines before (taking the exact spots as the black ones this week), I could've been mightily punished by facing just even one more burn deck or facing one of the two in the top 8. Unless burn had an absurd day 2 conversion rate (meaning a very small pool of burn total in all 800+ players), I felt not having white leylines was the incorrect read.
That being said, still happy with the tournament overall. The only mistakes I made were on camera (embarrassing, I know) but I played cleanly for the other rounds. The benefits of being essentially a one trick pony is that i've pretty much seen it all and from the technical rules to the match up specifics and even mulliganing is like muscle memory at this point whereas my opponents were constantly second guessing themselves and were somewhat unsure of how to approach the match up.

So, going forward, what would you change if anything with your list? If you expect some graveyard shennanigans black leylines, and combo/burn, white leylines? Also do you have a brief way of how you sideboard? Alot of the things in the deck do the same thing so im wondering what do you usually cut first, etc. Most of it is straight forward, but im wondering where your numbers are at.
Thanks and congrats!
