Loam is actually one of the best cards in the deck. You typically want to get to 4 lands for a turn 4 loam+conflag blowout, so dredging loam on turn 3 is a VERY solid play. I think the manabase does too much damage with the 5 color variant + tome scour is just not very strong compared to goblin lore.
I found myself taking more damage from the Fetch/shock base myself. When we curve out any lands we fetch we don't want into play tapped, because of our turn 4 clock this really shows in matchups like affinity and burn. Taking six to ourselves turn 2 to make a play is pretty much game.
4-0ed two local modern events and 5-0ed the constructed competitive league with this version of the deck. I think the sideboard needs some work, but the maindeck is basically there. Match 5 vs Capitano_CL (Chile Dredge Top8er) was a freaking bloodbath in my favor. Shriekhorn is just not as explosive as goblin lore.
Im pretty much on that same deck list FlCL except I run 3 stinkweeds and 2 darkblasts and I run 3 tormented voice instead of lore. Its a very consistent model of the deck and I put a really strong win rate with it.
Hi guys
Trying to make a dredge deck I like,i don't like vengevine or loam and I'm off bridge now but i still have two gargadon MB.
Im having issues with my manabase,im at 21 now and have removed all fetches but it sure seems like alot.Ive hit five lands consistently and I almost feel like I can run 19 without loam and fetches.Any thoughts?
Most times I've hardcast golgari grave-troll I wished I was more creature heavy.
Another thing im trying out is 2 peasants with the new haunted dead so I think I need the rainbow route however I don't want to try loam again.
I'm currently testing the interaction/synergy between greater gargadon and haunted Dead with rally the peasants.Anyone else test with those lately?
Guntius I don't actually see any interation/synergy between gargadon, haunted dead and rally the peasants. Personally I see no reason for the deck to include gargadon if it doesn't have bridge from below that combo is just broken when it goes off however normally just a win more situation then win games you normally wouldn't.
Deaths Shadow Zoo is a tough match up, however personally I think Ad Nauseum is our worst match up, Bogles can be tough as well, also any deck that mainboards RIP.
Greater Gargadon is great answer to Anger of the Gods, Ugin and other heavy removal decks. It's uncounterable, doesn't require having mana open all time, with Gargadon on suspend we don't have to play around exile removal - we always can sacrifice important guys in resp to anything. Now I test 3 copies in sideboard and so far they are great.
Scapeshift is a really easy matchup....not quite sure what issues you are having.
What are you doing such that scapeshift isn't at least somewhat difficult? I think I've only won 1 scapeshift match in the 4 I've played (1 Bring to Light, 1 Traditional, 2 RG) and it's been on the back of them drawing dead.
I put in a few games with a buddy and we found that the new haunted dead is good, even without rally those little tokens helped. With gargadon on the board eating HD whenever it blocks, gets blocked or at EOT really helps.
Rally wasn't as good as I'd hoped, its decent but more often than not I wanted something else to play so it sat in the yard alot.
I've also been using 2 golgari brownscale from when I was running the fetches and the life gain is very relevant.Gargadon food as well. skaab ruinator is a one of I'm also trying and I think it should stay,i always tossed neonate at it,when it hits and sticks it does quick work.
Anyone using rainbow colors that isn't killing your life total? 8 brass/confluence seems more painful than fetches and painlands last few games.
No offense guys but you guys running skaabs, gargadons and what not are missing out IMO your polluting the deck and giving up consistent t4 wins for flavor. This is just my opinion however I used to play a deck with bridge and garg and stichwing skaab. The version that FLCL plays is almost perfect I personally like tormenting voice instead of lore but that isn't a huge change. Ive got over 70 rounds in now and a win rate of 76%, playing serious games that I advertise competitive decks only. The more often you can turn over half or more of your deck by t2 the more wins you will see its really that simple. Garg is great fun especially with bridge when you put out 10 tokens on t2 but it really doesn't help you win games just win more.
Kielangelo4 those would be my worst match ups as well but I don't think they are heavly favored against us like 60/40 at the worst.
With Ad Naus I can always get my life above 40ish pretty early but I lose to the Lab Maniac so I am not sure its worth it to waste time gnawing. Any of you guys faced this match much and have any input? I haven't been running the thoughtseize in my side but I may put 3 in and give it a try.
I think that we should be focusing more on lists like Zen's for what the deck needs to be. I have been playing a lot of it and it is much more consistent. I have since dropped the Haunted/skaab and put Bridge back into legacy. I've started streaming some play to explain my lines of thought and will hopefully sit down for a deck tech soon.
Which build is the slow more consistent build? because my build has t4 lethal about 75% of the games I play and I find it very consistent. Im on the loam/conflag 13 dredgers 15 enablers/payoff cards.
Congrats on the strong finish! How do you plan on adjusting your decklist to incorporate Haunted Dead and Collective Brutality once EMN drops?

Against these decks i board-in:
Suicide Zoo - 1 Vengeful Pharoah, 2 Lightning Axe, 2 Engineered Explosive.
Bushwacker Zoo - 3 Engineered Explosives, 2 Lightning Axes, 1 Gnaw to the Bone.
Ad Nauseam - 2 Thoughtseize, 2 Gnaw to the Bone. (Burning Inquiry helps too)
Abzan Company - 3 Lightning Axes, 1 Memory's Journey.
Bogles - 2 Thoughtseize, 3 Engineered Explosives.
