Went 6-3 at the Cincinnati SCG classic, ended at 33rd
Beat Grixis Death's Shadow - relatively close races but I was always ahead and chumping is good.
Beat Vizier - I showed up late, giving up game 1, and still wrecked it in 2 games.
Beat Abzan - Ground it out, put her on the back foot every game by having more threats.
Beat 8 Rack - Mulled to Loam on 5 both games and rolled through the win.
Beat UW Control - Got to drop a satisfying burning inquiry that took away a RIP and a Cryptic. He didn't have enough answers to pseudo wide boards.
Lost to Storm - I struggle a lot with this matchup. I don't have a driven//despair yet. I killed every body he put down before his combo turns but still went off on t4 in game 2 and 3. Game 1 he fizzled by 1 storm and I darkblasted his attacking Baral to survive and win the swing back.
Lost to Burn - find lifegain or lose.

My 1-ofs are Scourge Devil and Haunted Dead, and I'm finding I don't care much for haunted dead and I may make it the Driven//Despair slot. I'm also running a split of 2 Burning Inquiry and 2 Collective Brutality. I wanted the Inquiries for more turbo dredging, but I kinda just want 4 Brutalities after seeing them be crucial and I don't want to waste sideboard slots on more of them. Also I'm past caring about Neonate, it just doesn't feel like it does enough.
I'm also starting to feel that. Donate is not working anymore. It is nice when you got it with an Imp in hand but otherwise it is just a very mediocre opening.
I think Friedman is right when he said it was best with GGT because you had a high chance of getting a fast opening hand.
Brutality is just a brutal card against a lot of decks so I think I start playing 4 main and becaus of that getting 2 more slots free main and in the board for more good stuff.

Lantern just one thing how often do you board in Gnaw to the Bone ? Having 2 Collective Brutality MB +1 in sideboard makes me feel that it is overkill against most decks in wich you need time.
Its diff a flex spot that can be thrown out for something else. Taking a quick look at my notes I use it against Burn, humans, spirits, zoo, scapeshift, titan shift. More than I was bringing in pharaoh, and I had enough for pharaoh matchups anyways, I needed a slight bump against burn, and scapeshift decks, and this fit the bill. I love brutality against burn, but it often doesnt get you there on its own, buys you a turn. Gnaw wins the game.
I'm also starting to feel that. Donate is not working anymore. It is nice when you got it with an Imp in hand but otherwise it is just a very mediocre opening.

I feel you, but its mana curve to me. I'm still in the "run 4 neonates" or at least 3 camp because I think hes important for consistancy. He can attack (despair, gnaw, after grave hate) he can block early turns (affinity, burn, merfolk) he doesnt dredge a ton, but he gets you started turn 1, brutality does turn 3. He also is instant speed, meaning I can do him turn 1 or 3 on their turn, avoiding verious hates game 2 and 3.
I agree. He is weak. and I am even using 2 brutalities in my main. But mana curve is important, and there are still quite a few times we have to race. That being said, I'll take a weak card that isnt great but does its job over over slotting my 2 mana cost making my turn 2 and 4 really good, but making my turns 1 and 3 worse.
I understand your points for sure.
I am a little bit at a loss sometimes how to use flex spots.
I played a version that worked really good for me but decided to change it up a bit because sometimes you just feel like that.
I changed my sideboard for the better I think after reading some articles but I also had to change the main abut because of it.

I feel you. The longer you play a deck, the more certain cards become pet cards, and its harder to cut them. I'm like that with haunted dead, simply because adding a ghost to my deck and giving a more spooky vibe is in my wheelhouse. Same thing with devil.
But back when I played zoo alot, where the problem was more prominent, I got over it by viewing the cards as tools to have something done in my tool belt. Like I have these watch screw drivers, but I'm only ever putting in sheet rock. The screw drivers might be great sometimes and completely useless others, but if I need a stud finder, I'm just going to have to make the room, even if I miss the other tool.
Thanks for the understanding. I know Devil is not even a very good card it deels like win more.
Hainted is a better card I think so I will be viewing them more as tools then pets from now on :-P
Besides I beat simple Dredge with Dredgevine this week. I even recorded my success
I beat dredgevine with new dredge the day I got the deck.
I'm not throwing shade really (well, I did to you, you threw it first.) I was just stating a simple fact with data to back it up. Dredgevine has less of a meta share, mostly because it is less conistant (burst vs a full engine) and because it has a harder time sideboarding (we can "draw" ours easier and cut cards easier) as well as slots issues. Our deck takes around 8 slots for beaters, and our engine smaller, giving us more slots to play with.
Not trying to make a big deal outta it. I used to play dredgevine (likely will 2 weeks from now for fun), but I can admit coming from both that dredge dredge just functions easier. As far as I know, the most competitive dredgevine lists that have placed are using conflag and amalgams, so its basically, dredge with some vines added in. Though I'm partial to Varolz, the Scar-Striped, death's shadow as it gives a niche dredge cant attack with.

I agree, Dredgevine is definitely less consistent than traditional Dredge. I'm hoping my newer build of the list incorporating Hollow One helps fix the consistency a bit but we'll have to see. Feel free to check out the deck over in the Dredgevine thread
Speaking of Hollow One have any of you discussed it as a possible card for normal Dredge? While I know the deck mainly leans on cheating creatures into play from the yard, Turn 2 Looting into a 1 mana 4/4 still seems pretty good. Or heck, even being able to play them for free after a large Conflagrate if your opponent is still alive seems like it might at least warrant some testing.

I'm from Brazil and I will play with dredge deck in GP Sao Paulo on August 12th, and I would like some help to with some loose ends
as far as I know there are no relevant data about the metagame in Brazil for a event like this (if there's other brazilians out there that could point some source for it I would appreciate a lot!)
however I have some assumptions.
Burn is a very popular deck around my region due to it's low cost vs good competitive results and I believe I'll face it frequently, so I think it's worth to adapt my list a bit around it

I still not sure about that 1 Darkblast... maybe it could be switched by a Rally or Driven(I didn't really tested it yet)
So what you guys think ?
any particular tips against burn considering my list ?
does it let me in big disvantage against any other specific deck ?
Thanks in advance!
I dont think you want to be at 3 brutalities in the main, even with burn being a big thing. Other than that, what you got is pretty standard, so it should be fine. Id say if you are worried about burn, run at least 1 gnaw to the bone in the side, which you have. I dont think Id run 3 explosives. Id run 2 tops, then split the difference with either deck, pulse, or nature's claim.
Missed the PPTQ due to lack of testing/piloting the deck prior. In my testing since I can say that Sheltered Thicket is hot garbage in the version that wants to break out fast. It was awkward 3rd land in hand more then a few times. In a version maxing on Collective Brutality and looking to go long I could see it being better.
Rally the Peasants is insane versus removal. It helps extend power onto the board after spot removal takes care of an Amalgam or Ghast. Dark Blast is stellar versus affinity, it is also an easy board out card. I enjoyed my two in the main.
robaldelli versus burn you want gnaw to the bone, just play it around their skullcracks and commands.

Hi guys! First post here. I am a dredge player, i use the "normal" list with the addition of a 1x Lightning Axe MD ( i run 2x DarkBlast MD vs Affo and fast company decks). Along this period i'm facing A LOT of problems with heavy grave-hate in G2-3. Did u guys find a solution? Right now i am running 3x ancient grudge and 3 (or 4) Nature's Claim in SB, but i feel like is not enough.
Your problem is likely a simple one that we underestimate. You don't know how to sideboard correctly. I don't mean to come off jerkish here, but its usually the problem, especially if you are new, and is one of the hardest things to successfully win long term.
You need to know exactly how to side, why, and what to cut ever match up. This is HIGHLY dependent on knowing the other persons decklist, namely what hurts you. For example:
Jund has 2 ooze, 0-2 Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet, 1-3 relic/spellbomb. 0-2 anger of the gods. So with that in mind you need to answer artifacts, creatures and play around anger (not enough of spell based hate to warrent a sb card) so run stuff like decay, pulse, axe, ect.
W/U control on the other hand, runs 2-4 RiP and 0-2 Extraction. Meaning thoughtseize is good here, as well as enchantment hate.
Affinity brings in relic or cage, meaning grudge is the correct call.
Company decks will try to chord or comapany into an answer. Meaning Brutality is correct.
You need to know their deck lists and what they bring in vs you. Worse, that hate changes sometimes, so you need to be on top of the meta shifts. But good news, the guys who play jund... read about winning jund lists/players. you have access to that too. So you can learn it at the same time.
I know its not a simple fix, but I'm sure the rest of the dredge players will chime in and agree, that they all were losing games 2 and 3, then realized what to bring in and how to beat it, now they can win it.
Hi me br too, i think about two decks for Gp, Affinity or Dredge but i will face tons of hate in two decks. For your question i prefer no Brutality in MB and go with one more insolente and thug, in side run 2 brutality afterall.

I totally get your point. For sure i am gonna learn by heart the other lists, just to have an idea of what i ll face on G2-3.
Another dumb question: Darkblast is an in-card vs company decks? I fell like removing their ramp creatures can give me at least 2 turns more to set my game
Not a dumb question, it misses a few of their dudes. Yes it is good. A turn 1 play that takes them down a turn, and puts you in dredge mode immediately.
Returning from a small FNM modern in my LGS. It was a sweet night to Dredge. Driven//Despair shined against both a U Tron and a Eldrazi Tron, cripling their hands in turn 3 and 4 with me on the play both times. Grixis Shadow just takes so much damage that it's not that of a horrible match up. And the last game was against afinity, and I had my sweet vengeance cruising 2-0 this time with great hands in my side. My record was also a first 8-0 in games for me.
Beat Grixis Death's Shadow - relatively close races but I was always ahead and chumping is good.
Beat Vizier - I showed up late, giving up game 1, and still wrecked it in 2 games.
