I think Runed Halo against us is a mistake. Does nothing pretty much
I agree, Runed Halo by itself is not good, but in conjunction with for example a Rest in Peace or a second Runed Halo to prevent a Gifts package it can be a nuisance. When you face multiple hate cards and you have to take care of an additional piece you can only bounce it gets tough. Since Runed Halo is a flexible SB card you may sometimes run into it.
The best example I can think of which happened to me recently is when facing something like the White enchantment deck which you occasionally walk into when playing in the wild wild west that is the current modern metagame. Runed Halo by itself is easily taken care of, but back it up with a Leyline of Sanctity and a Greater Auramancy and you're almost locked into the Empty the Warrens plan without going nuts on casting Echoing Truths/Wipe away multiple times the same turn.
Runed Halo doesnt protect against beating in with Goblin Tokens though. They cannot name "Goblin" or anything like it because "Goblin Token" is not a card.
I don't think I said it would? I mean, many hate cards used against us (like GY hate for example) don't hit the Empty plan.
Empty the Warrens is a fragile secondary plan which is there to specifically get around hate, but there's a reason it is exclusively maintained in the SB, it often just doesn't cut it.
Oh, I see. Welp, the issue are the multiple Ghostly Prison and possible Sphere of Safety they play
I actually managed to win g2 and g3 though, scooped game 1 and then lucked out both SB games by dodging Leyline of Sanctity and Remanding almost everything relevant until I had the bounce spell for the hate piece which managed to come through.
For sure. That's why we play Wipe Away. Against most white decks, especially an enchantment based deck, I think all 4 gifts out during sidebaording is good, I'm too afraid of Rest in Peace. Ghostly Prison can be troublesome, but 3 mana is slow vs us and we got Wipe away
Are people siding in shattering spree against E-Tron, I don't really have a defined game plan against them. Just generic empty, pieces post board and a bounce spell or two.

Personally don’t like playing without Remand because the number of games you can put in god bag with a natural storm count + remand are at least a third of my wins, not to mention keeping a Thalia off the table for a crucial turn.
But if Jeskai and big mana are your problem, I don’t hate the blood moon plan.

Death's Shadow and Jeskai. I also really like having a theoretical turn 1 win be possible. Remand is a good point, my hope is that it is better games 2-3, while the turbo/moon plan has a nice 'gotcha' effect for game one. I'll test both ways and see how it goes.
What's the general consensus on the playability of Lightning Bolt in the main? Removal that can lower the needed storm count doesn't seem that bad actually.

Depending on the meta it could be a good call to include 1-2 bolts
The meta right now seems creature heavy so playing with it could give you a good edge while not being completely dead against other decks.
It also frees some space in the SB for the control MU.

I played to a disappointing 2-2 TNM finish last night, had a string of bad variance in R3.
R1 Mono-Green Tron 2-1
G1 on the draw, his t3 tron played a wurmcoil, I untapped and killed him.
G3 on the draw, I tried going off t3 after demanding a TKS, fizzled a mana shy of having lethal grapeshot + remand, played a long 30-minute game where I just needed a single extra mana but every turn was either karn hitting hand or a land. The last turn of the game before I was going to have enough mana to flashback PiF and kill him, he karn -3 cast karn -3 cast karn -3. Left me with 3 lands and no outs, he played a 7/7 ballista next turn and the following turn killed me.
G3 he had t3 karn, I Remanded it, untapped and killed him.
R2 my opponent was on Grixis Goryos Emrakul, t3 Breach an Emrakul G1 and t2 goryos an Emrakul g2. Really don’t have much interaction for this MU. 0-2
R3 my opponent was on GW Vizier, t3 infinite life on the play, g2 he had t1 bird t2 canonist (bolted) t3 Eidolon (remanded) then he had dismember for my bear in response to my ritual, untapped and gained infinite life. 0-2
R4 UW Control, 2-0, he is a new modern player missing some big SB stuff so it was just free range. Slow rolled because he didn’t have any kind of clock, EOT gifts got countered and untapped for Gg both games.
Going to Indy open in a week, what’re thoughts on 6 bears, 2 bolts, 2 remand, 1 unsub, 2 opts in MB? I think I want more outs to Humans, but maybe dismember is better than bolt because of decks playing MB eidolon (darn you Hoogland with your popular meme-streams)

My personal opinion is that 3 Grapeshots & 1 Unsubstantiate is enough for the main board. The thing about Humans is that they don't interact with you unless they have Kitesail Freebooter, which means we can just dig for Grapeshots, or just win on turn 3 or 4 outright if they dont slam a Thalia, Guardian of Thraben. I also like 3 Remands. We can even try out a Repeal, I think Caleb has been trying this.
I just watched the VOD of Caleb’s last stream, I think I’m going to run with his list. 2 Opt 1 repeal 1 unsub 2 remand. The repeal won him a couple games singlehandedly that nothing else would’ve gotten there for him.
What should I be expecting for the Open meta? I’m foreseeing Indianapolis being chocked full of Jeskai and Shadow decks

Hi,
Just came from an fnm event. I went with 2-2 score.
Games i lost were to mono green tron and merfolk. I am more interested in merfolk matchup after sideboard. How do you guys procceed in this matchup? What is your sideboard plan. I ended up losing to a relic of progenitus.

Tron is usually a bye, even with t3 karn we can still pull out the win pretty often. How did you board here?
And merfolk can’t be helped much, they have a fast clock + counter spells. Your best hope is EOT gifts to draw the counter spell, untap and hope you get there. Don’t forget you can assign 2 grapeshot damage to everything and then kill the lord and everything that was a 3/3 dies. I’ve not had much trouble beating their average draw but their nut is good. UG merfolk don’t play force spike fish (name???) so that’s a bonus
