I'll give it a shot over Revival. I definitely get the card disadvantage. The few times I actually gifted for it, I had to include cantrips if I didn't have any in hand do draw what I used Noxious on. I like the idea of Apostle's Blessing for sure.
Silly but basic question for you Stormers: how do you track your mana/storm count IRL? Wondering if there was an easier way then mine which is:
I've made some handmade storm/mana counter. I,ve posted it a few weeks ago on the storm page on facebook. They are the size of a normal card and fit perfectly with another card under it in a sleeve.

hey everyone! just picked this deck up a few days ago and i'm really enjoying it. i did have a few questions about card choices and about the deck itself.
1) what's the consensus on the amount of cost reducers? i see lists run either 7-8 and i'm not sure what is better
2) what's the verdict on peer through depths and merchant scroll? is peer through depths better than merchant scroll? i'm currently playing 2 merchant scroll in my build and they've underperformed tbh. should i cut a remand and go down to two remand and cut the two scrolls for 3 peers?
3) i noticed people are playing the madcap experiment package in the board, is this any good?

1) From what I have seen, it depends on whether you run Blessing or not. Run ways to protect your electromancers=less electromancers
2)I started with scroll and have since moved over to peer. Sometimes I need another ritual, not a gifts.
3) No idea, havent seen it in any of the 5-0 lists

1) Depends from your decklist and Meta. If heavy meta on shooting your electromancer's with bolts and stuff, play 8. Myself I prefer 7, but that goes pretty much to that I have to play more carefully, and I do have second Empty the Warrens on my MB.
2) I play 2x Peer's and 1x Scroll. Scroll is like 5th Gifts for me, and most of time I have felt I need to see rituals more than Gifts. That's why this.
3) Atleast most competitive list's don't have this. Myself I don't like that plan. That's why my sideboard is more on answer's and hate cards than second plan.
1. 7 is perfect. This storm iteration is more like a midrange storm deck. you csn win turn 3, but there is usually so much hate to play around I would say turn 5-7 is more often. I also run a second empty Main board. I get a lot of value out of it.
2. I don't like scroll it feels like a win more to me. I don't think I every played it and changed from losing to winning. You don't need gifts to go off a lot of the time. It does help but it's not necessary just like PiF isn't required to win. Muddle the Mixture has felt more useful and better in almost every case in my experience.
3. The madcap emperion side board plan is not good. I haven't played it but there is just too much good cheap removal. On top of you have alt win con already. It might work short term but would get destroyed in the long run. RIght now My side board is vandal blast (till I can find a shattering spree but I think I might like the option of 1 or 5 mana over just 4 mana it's good to be flexible.
SB:
-Vandal blast
-Shattering Spree
-Wear//Tear
-Erase
-Trickbind
-Disrupting Shoal
-Quicken
-Silence
-Gigadrowse
-Rise from the Tides (when you are expecting Cage) It's heavy manaa cost but with a reducers you only need to rituals and a manamorphose. I've had some good testing with it on MTGO but haven't had the chance to play in in paper yet
-3x Blood Moon
-2x Stony Silence
I know this is a little late, but I fully disagree this deck can win without gifts and PiF. Its definitely harder but merchant scroll is just bad in my experience. Usually the thing you need the most is a reducer. I play Muddle the Mixture, it can tutor the majority of your deck and worst case scenario its a hard counter for instant and sorcery spells. Peer works amazing for when you need rituals, gifts, storm card, or PiF it can be the death of you if you need a land or reducer. I play a one of. I also play a second Empty mainboard and that helps a lot for early interaction, blocking a few turns while you put it together in your hand, etc.
I've been puzzling with my sideboard but a lot of possible cards seem meta call, if someone with some experience on these cards/matters could elaborate that would be swell:
1. Leyline of Sanctity. I only see this being usefull vs BGx and Burn. Hardly seems worth it vs the mirror for instance although it hinders AD Nauseum and forces them to have the Maniac wincon. Seems like a meta choice, thoughts?
2. Why are some playing Dispel over Swan Song? Swan seems superior especially vs Burn cause of Eidolon. Is the 2/2 really that much of a problem?
3. Bounce or artifact hate. Some lists I see have Echoing/Repeals and others only have the Vandalblasts/Shattering Spree. Apart gron the usual suspect Affinity why would we prefer arti destroy so much over bounce. I get that Grafdigger is an issue but is that enough to warrant it all?
Thanks in advance
1 - I've never liked Leyline Of Sanctity, mull to 6 or to 5 to find it it's not a good idea, you will have a weak hand and you'll die to Liliana Of The Veil or Eidolon Of The Great Revel. And if you don't see it in your opening hand and you keep, you'll have 3 dead draws in your deck, and when you're facing a deck like Jund/Abzan you can't afford a dead draw.
2 - A 2/2 flyer it's a great gift for your opponent. Against Eidolon Of The Great Revel you have to kill him with Lightning Bolt or bounce it with Echoing Truth. Dispel is useful against burn spells, counters and Ad Nauseam. The 99% of times you will be okay with Dispel, you can't give them a 2/2 flyer for the 1% of times that Swan Song would be better (against Scapeshift maybe?)
So why Echoing Truth insted of running Wear/Tear? The reason is that you can also use Echoing Truth to bounce a creature if you don't find a Lightning Bolt so it's will never be a dead card in hand. Now our boogeyman : Chalice Of The Void with 2 counters! Here I prefer to run Shattering Spree. It can hit multiple Chalices, we can use it against Affinity like a Shatterstorm effect and it cost just 1 red mana. I've seen that someone plays Repeal against Chalice Of The Void, sure it's an option...but against Affinity it's not so good, and against a piece of hate like a Leyline, etc you will pay 5 mana that's too much.
All 3 can break a Chalice on 2, and only Vandalblast can't get past a Chalice on 1 and 2. However, one of the biggest reasons I like this package is that you can Gifts for it in other artifact heavy matchups and get a virtually guaranteed artifact sweeper in your hand. It gives you a bit more game against Affinity, Lantern, etc. Running it alongside Echoing Truth gives you a myriad of options for breaking lock pieces
I like the 3 piece sb package but by running wear//tear it saves you a card. I play vandalblase, shattering spree, wear//tear,erase, add in echoing truth and you can gifts to remove enchantment as well. Also erase exiles Eidolon of Rhetoric when helps great against Abzan CoCo and burn. I have found Bolt very underwhelming been playing it without it all together. I've toyed with flame slash because I never use bolt on opponent. I'm surely a lot of this stuff is pretty meta dependents but also with removal think about playing around chalice so beyond the gifts value it helps you get around an otherwise almost unwinnable lock against you.
How the hell do I beat death's shadow? It just feels like they have such consistent hand disruption and removal that I never get anything done.
You have to do the same Tormod's crypt can keep the traverse with delirium from happening, also A turn 2 blood moon when they play 2-3 basics is back breaking. Also remember an Empty the warrens just for 10 chump blockers. I stepped my long game a lot when I got to the point I'll use a grapeshot as removal a lot of them time. With all the disruption a lot of the time you have to dump things out of your hand you would rather hold and set up later turns. Death shadow is kinda glass cannony(sic). I would say the UBx variants are the toughest. I have had the most trouble with burn, a lot because I haven't played against it enough and UW control variants playin every damn counterspell in modern it feels like and smappys.
if i'm playing a second empty in the main, am i cutting the second grapeshot for it?
i saw some interesting tech last night on a stream, andrew shrout (johnnyhotsauce on magic online) had pieces of the puzzle in his build. what do you guys think of that? it seems sweet to me tbh
I used to play the Ascension version of this deck, but things have really changed. Anyone got any good videos about how to play this new version?
Here's our best case scenario
Turn1: Play serum visions or sleight of hand in order to find a missing piece of the combo
Turn2: Play Electromancer or Baral
Turn3: Gifts ungiven on EoT - Grab 2 rituals, manamorphose and past in flames
Turn4: Combo. Start with manamorphose or rituals, then cast past in flames. Cast a bunch of rituals, then grab some more rituals, morphoses, cantrips with gifts, reach 20 storm count and kill your opponent.

Sup, I´ve been playing the deck for a while (Got 1960 or something in constructed) and today i won the modern challenge on MTGO, overall 9-1 loosing just vs jund shadow with a bad keep for myself.
here is the decklist http://imgur.com/a/q7g6l (I dont know how to put it on a image, is giving me problems)
Im playing scour over merchant because g1 i want to maximize my 1st turns cantrips, and it worked very well
And i added shatering spree and shatterstorm to the sb to beat aff and lantern
keep storming bros
Good *****! Have you thought about my lord and savior Swan Song over dispel?
I think the empty should stay in the side. It's good to have it as a gifts target against control but that just comes up so rarely and it is a trouble draw 99% of game ones. Definetly leave in two grapeshots for the main. I tried pieces of the puzzle a while ago, but cut it for peer through depths because it felt better in opening hand. If you try it I would suggest going up to 3 past in flames and finding slots for thought scours over peer through depths and scroll so that you can more easily combo without a gifts. Don't play more than 2 puzzles. Drawing 2 will lose you an aggro matchup
Solid list, personally I like peer through depths over thought scour. If you try it drop the third past in flames because you'll be less likely to try to go off without a gifts. Also, if you are going to sideboard 3 bounce effects you could try, 1 echo, 1 cylconic rift, and 1 into the roil, that way you can endstep gifts I given against a RIP or cage and garrenty a combo.
I went 3-1 at FNM last week - my best ever Modern FNM finish.
R1 - Jeskai Control
G1 - waited for him to tap out, T4 Grapeshot kill
Sided in interaction - Swan Song, Negate, Echoing Truth just in case.
G2 - he seized control and beat me with a man land
G3 - Managed to dump rituals into a Warren beatdown early on
R2 - Ad Nauseum
This was one of the best games of magic I've ever played. It has all blurred into one, but I know that he went off once, and I went off twice, with him using the Archangels Light to try and fight through to no avail. I brought in Wear/Tear and the counterspells. HAllowed Fountain saved me in one of the games because I managed to blow up his Leyline and his Phyrexian Unlife with the same wear/tear and past in flames.
Round 3 - Merfolk
Game 1 - T4 Grapeshot Kill
Sided in Ehoing Truth and counterspells
G2 - he drew all his counters and kept me out of it.
G3 - He got mana screwed, tapped out his 2 islands, I EoT Gifts, he scoops.
Round 4 - Burn.
G1 - He plays T2 Eidolon, T3 Eidolon. I cry.
I side in 3 Bolts, swan song, 2 wear tears, 1 Echoing truth
G2 - it got hairy. I cast an electromancer and say go on 6 life. He goes straight to combat and swings with 2 swiftspears and a goblin guide. I block a swiftspear, and he didn't cast anything in response!. I combo off the turn after on one life.
G3 - Got a lot of Goblins from Warrens after killing an Eidolon, but too little too late.
I'm feeling a lot more confident with this now. Was at a GPT on Saturday that didn't go so well (1-2-2) but I'll write that up another time.

Hi,
Im going to play storm at gp copenhagen this weekend. I didnt have the opportunity to playtest much so I would be glad to benefit from your experience
Why do most lists run 2 grapeshot main? Isnt it always a dead draw and you only want it if you can storm for 20 where you can gifts for it anyway?
On Swan song: I played this deck alot with ascension and Swan Song was by far the best sideboard card back then, because you want it against almost anything. So im definitely gonna play it.
The ''worst'' scenario for you opponent who does not interract with you at all is:
Turn 1: Cantrip
Turn 2: Electromancer or Baral
Turn 3: Ritual, Ritual, Manamorph into Gifts (atleast 1 mana open from land and 2 in pool). Get Ritual, Ritual, Morph, PiF. Then you play what you get to your hand, cast stuff from your GY again and with Gifts get PiF is last one ended to go exile, then Grapeshot, Ritual, Manamorph or another Ritual or Gifts if needed go wide with storm most of time not.
And this is how you love your ''friends''
Actually, it's
Turn 1: Cantrip
Turn 2: Ritual, Manamorphose, Reducer, Ritual, Ritual, Manamorphose, Gifts, Then Go off.
