Hey guys long time lurker, figured I'd throw out some thoughts.
Lately I've been trying out Into the Roil; I like how it cantrips and it isn't trash against things that cost more than like 3 mana (like Repeal). Bouncing things early that need to be slowed down and then having the option later to cantrip is great. I've been considering Boomerang as it can bounce manlands and tron lands, but it of course doesn't cantrip, and needs double blue.
At my last modern event I went 3-1, beating two RG tron decks and a not-optimally-built Necra plansewalker deck, and losing to Mono U Tron. I don't know if the Mono U Tron matchup has been talked about much here but being swarmed with counterspells really hinders our gameplan.
Regarding Garuuk, Primal Hunter, I'd say he's pretty good if he resolves. The only thing I really worry about is that triple green, it doesn't mesh well with Cryptic Command and the red that's needed to keep the field clean.
I feel with all of the counterspells around (at least in my meta) it would be wise to put some anti-counterspell threats in the sideboard. Thrun, the Last Troll is of course an option, not sure about others. Gaea's Revenge? Terra Stomper?
I'm playing the primetime/omen version (the build that got 4th at GPKC, here:http://mtgtop8.com/event?e=5250&d=230271) and I"m having trouble vs. URx tempo decks, like UR delver and UWR geist. They pack disruption so you have to protect your combo, but can also put you on a pretty fast clock. Is this just a bad matchup, and is there anything you can do about it? What's the proper way to board and play here?

It's a bad matchup for the primetime version but excellent for the CC version.
Generally hold back counterspells until most necessary and be unafraid to get down very low in health and try to stall out for the 8 land scapeshift.

This or run more uncounterable spells. Honestly, with the popularity of URx decks, I feel it's too hostile to run a titan centric version. Gaea's revenge is a card well suited for this meta but it takes a while to cast.

Grats, here is your cookie I took a bite out of it because you're not worth a whole cookie. GL with your horrible tezzeret deck. Shmanka
That doesnt seem like a bad card to be playing honestly, in either version of the deck. It also lets us shift into a better beatdown plan if there is room in the board.

Decks I have in my bag of tricks- Needless to say, someone who wants to play will probably have a deck UB/x Faeries UR Storm XURWB Affinity G Elves UW control
Anyone considering scavenging ooze for graveyard hate sideboard? for the prime time version, he can get pretty huge.
I've been toying around using scooze and young pyromancer. I'll let you guys know. YP seems like a nobo for our sweepers though.
I also really want to try the legacy scapeshift lists. They basically run Jund lists (which I have advocated in the past) and rely on hand disruption rather than U control. The main issue of course is that legacy doesn't lose nearly as much life as we do from lands. So it might not work.

I just swapped Relic of Progenitus for Scavenging Ooze in my TitanShift sideboard because I figured that my aggro match-up can never be too secure.
In fact, I am sorely tempted to stick Ooze in my UGr Fast Combo Scapeshift sideboard...or at least Wurmcoil Engine.
I finally got to try out my Primal Command-into-fatty anti-Slaughter Games plan yesterday against Jund (I need Primal Command because I play Peer Through Depths). I took out Meloku and put in Aetherling instead because I don't like it when my fatties keep me from Scapeshifting profitably (I boarded in Meloku once against GW Hatebears--then I got Scapeshift in hand).
A stuck Aetherling was often the bomb, but sticking Aetherling was harder than I thought. There was one game where I died to burn before sticking Aetherling. There was another game where they Thoughtseized Primal Command, then Slaughter Games'd me, and I never recovered. And even worse, there was a game where they cast 2 Slaughter Games...even though, since I'm testing against myself, I know they have only 2 Slaughter Games in the board. The first one named Scapeshift. The second one named Aetherling. My remaining creature suite couldn't get there.
I now see the wisdom of the Wurmcoil Titan board plan for UGr Scapeshift combo. Maybe I should board out my expensive Wipe Away that I almost can't cast through Blood Moon and stick either Wurmcoil or Ooze in.

I think youn pyromancer is to durdly for the deck. ooze gets big very quickly and hates very strongly against GY which is why he would be nice.

Have you thought about using Venser, Shaper Savant MB or sb to hold off slaughter to give you a turn to cast what you need?

Is the reason we don't play explore because we have too many 2-drops as it is? I want to get rid of my serum visions in the CC version because they have sucked almost 24/7. I think explore looks like a good option but just want to know if anyone has tried it.
I believe I might be playing farseek again instead of explore though. Who knows. Without preordain I'm not really sure what we should do about one drops.

What do you guys think can replace those serum visions?
My Scapeshift deck is built to rip through itself really fast, so I like my 2 Explores. Then again, in my build, I wouldn't ditch Serum Visions because it's so good at what it does--making risky, colour-screwed keeps and 2-land keeps acceptable.
If you hate Serum Visions, maybe Telling Time will suck a little less. At least it's instant-speed and the safer cantrip when you have only 1 Island and you want to hold Remand up.
Some people play only the 4 Peer Through Depths, but I've never been able to goldfish fast and consistently enough without at least 7 non-Cryptic Command cantrips.
New player to Scapeshift here, very excited to start playing this. What's a good SB plan against Red Burn? It's heavy in my meta, and I feel like Remand isn't even that good here, and neither is any of my tempo stuff. Could bring in a heavy number of Dispels, but is the typical plan against burn to bring in Wurmcoil Engine and/or Obstinate Baloth?

If Burn is so heavy in your metagame, just maindeck 4x Baloth, and make the burn players cry!
Sup. Living end player here. It's hard for LE to win through izzet charms, cryptics and remands. A remanded living end basically means we're on the beat down plan.
Post-board, a good living end player will transform the deck into midrange land destruction deck: Beast Within, Fuminator Mage, Avalanche Rider. Destroy all your blue lands, then living end the creatures back to wreck havoc again. This would be a headache to the scapeshift gameplan.

Just play a few Cavern of Souls maindeck, you should be able to force your Titan through the counterspells. And Combust from sideboard (which you should have a few already to fight splinter twins combo) can slow their clock considerably, unless they are playing Geist of St Traft. UR delver in particular have a lot of trouble to answer a resolved Obstinate Baloth or Titan or Wurmcoil.
What is the agreed upon best list for RUG Scapeshift? I am just getting into modern and started with UWR midrange(Shahar's list from worlds) and I found the deck to be underwhelming for me. I decided to give this deck a shot and this is what I played in playtesting vs Merfolk and UWR
