I run it as a 3 of and its good but normally the first cut after Anger. I think that Scapeshift is too slow vs burn/ affinity so normally shave down for as much hate as I can stomach.

Looks like Titanshift didn't put up much results at all during Regionals. I would've thought with the increase in human and merfolk decks, our deck is better positioned in this meta. What happened?
From my experience, we are good against Etron, decent against affinity and GDS. What's keeping us down, the sheer power of storm alone?
Hi everyone,
A quick question, as I can’t decide on my own. Regional PTQ is coming next week and I can’t decide which deck to play, scapeshift or abzan. Thought maybe there are some pros and cons that I’ve missed? It’s an unknown meta, in Nurneberg, Germany. Currently I am leaning towards abzan because storm just pees on Titanshift and ressurgance of infect scares me, but I kinda feel that I know valakuts better. Also regionals results are not giving hope

I am also considering playing Titanshift for my RPTQ. I'm probably around 75% for Titanshift as of today. The RPTQ is in 3 days. Personally, I feel most players are just going to run the decks that they had success with at the PPTQs. I know most of the winners in my area and feel confident vs. most of them personally.
However, some will metagame. I expect Storm because I think some players won't be scared to run into Burn and have a plan for GDS or feel they can dodge it. I am probably going to run 2 Relic of Progenitus main board. I am thinking about what to cut. Here's my deck. Any suggestions?
I'm really considering running 2 Relic of Progenitus main with 1 in the SB with 1 Grafdigger's Cage.

Cut a promise and a bolt. You don't want to lose too much ramp or too much interaction or your density of wincons.
Thanks man. I know I can always count on you. Do you think I should put the 4th Bolt in the SB then? I've seen players do this and I've always thought it was dumb, but I could honestly see it now. I may also go 3 Stomping Ground and 3 Cinder Glade based on my guess of the RPTQ lacking in Affinity and Burn (hopefully).
For what it's worth, I have not been playing Titanshift since the PPTQ season because I am a bit bored and LOVE to try many different decks. I felt that Titanshift was "easy mode" at my LGS. It was simply too easy to win. I mean if they had Legacy staples that I could save up to get, I could see that being fine. But I like to test my skills with other decks. Now, I see about an uprising of Storm globally, which I don't see at my LGS. It's very interesting, but I feel confident in my ability to jump right back in to Titanshift.

No problem, I love this deck and I try to keep an eye on this thread. Post PPTQ season I've been bouncing between different BGx decks.
Even though I'm running only 3 bolts and 3 angers in my 75 right now, I think access to the 4th bolt is getting more important in the evolving metagame. With humans on the rise, merfolk getting a small bump in popularity and Taxes decks running rampant, Anger can sometimes prove too slow (both mana-cost and sorcery-speed wise). Thalia into Leonin into GQ... brrrr. Happened to me twice in the last month. Never missed bolt so much.
The problem is sideboard space. You're proposing 4 pieces of graveyard interaction - I think 3 is sufficient. If you're expecting a lot of storm I won't even bring the deck. As for GDS, 2 relics is the sweet spot. They can always eschew reliance on the graveyard and kill with shadows. Better off dropping freewin colossi on them - and you already have 2 in the side.
Given your concerns, I'd make the following changes to your 75:
Mainboard
- 1 Hour of Promise (3 gets clunky)
- 1 Lightning Bolt
+ 2 Relic of Progenitus
Sideboard
- 1 Relic of Progenitus
+ 1 Lightning Bolt
Personally I run all grave hate in my side. Post board I bring in a full playset of Leylines and 2 Relics against problematic decks
Thanks guys. The problem is that this is to far from my region and don’t know what to expect, even remotely. There has been mkm open in september, which meta i am looking at. The vast majority was ds, then e-tron, then burn. All of these decks are not the one that I want to face with TS...unless I am missing on something.
Also, peppple who play pia and kiran in main, how do they perform? And vs which decks are good?
Also, swagtusk mb,yay or nay?
Cheers guys,
This forum really offers a lot of supp
Are there any actual hate cards we can run to try to avoid dying to Storm? We've always had a problem with decks that can combo off faster than we can, and Storm is quite consistent at the moment. The only card I can think of in straight GR which might be able to slow Storm down for us to be able to combo at a similar rate is Eidolon of the Great Revel.

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.
Curious, how does this deck not die to mana leak and some counter spells?
1) Jam threats. Most builds have 12-13 haymakers maindeck which is more than most control decks have counters. Post-board you can bring in more threats including uncounterable beasts like Thrun or Carnage Tyrant. Sure, you trade down on mana, but you can just keep playing them out until they run out of answers.
2) Play lands. Your main win condition is burning the world down with Valakut. Doing so with Scapeshift or Primeval Titan tomfoolery is the flashiest way to go about this, but sometimes you just drop a Valakut or two and grind them out with an unending stream of bolts. They can't counter land drops and there's only so much room for land hate in most control decks.

Feel free to PM me about Affinity decks in any format!
I'm on the prismatic omen list and love it. I have a couple of spicy cards to help with various match ups and am happy to provide a list.
Yes, please do show us a list when you have time. Welcome to the Tier 3 deck according to Brian Demars!
Played in a 24 person FNM.
Round 1 vs. Junk Midrange. 7-0 vs. this player with Titanshift. In the first game, he drew all the discard, some creatures, and Liliana of the Veil. I'm about to lose with no cards in hand and 5 mana, but draw Hour of Promise to clear his field and make his Liliana not close to ultimate anymore. This gives me time to draw Scapeshift 3 turns later to win. In the next game, I snap keep on lands and ramp. I ramp super hard, but never find a win-con. I draw 3 lands in a row when they do nothing. The last game is similar after he top decks a Fulminator Mage to go with his Surgical Extraction after I tapped out for Hour of Promise and tapped my Relic of Progenitus. I should have gotten double Valakut, but didn't and lost my Valakut from hand too. I draw literally almost nothing and lose to Souls tokens. I draw a Summoner's Pact before lethal, but make an incorrect decision of Prime Time to get 2 of 4 lands left in the deck out. I should have gotten Baloth to get another turn, but Lingering Souls tokens from 3 of them allowed chumps on Chameleon Colossus. Near the final turn, I have an option to EoT Bolt his token and pray to draw a Bolt out of 26 cards left to pump Colossus twice for 16 damage with no other blockers there and Bolt for 19 total. I don't do it and Bolt his Grim Flayer instead, but he has Siege Rhino and Collective Brutality in hand after his draw step. They're lethal with the 4 last Souls tokens. I lost 1-2.
Round 2 vs. BR Aggro. Budget deck. New guy who came with 2 friends, another on Mardu Burn and another on Jund Midrange. (I saw them because they were right next to us.) He won the die roll and goldfished me on turn 4 in game 1. In game 2, I played a million Kitchen Finks and Obstinate Baloth and he couldn't find Red and got crushed. In the last game, he mulled and didn't have a land for turn 1! It set him back and I was ramping. He scooped. 2-1.
Round 3 vs. Enchantress. Don't laugh. This guy caused me a lot of problems when I ran GGT Dredge. I ramp like crazy and he doesn't play anything too broken after I turn 1 on the draw Lightning Bolt his Arbor Elf. In the next game, he does turn 3 Sigil of the Empty Throne. On my turn, I do turn 3 Beast Within a Forest with Fertile Ground and he doesn't draw another land (only had Plains in play after that) Dick move. 2-0.
Round 4 vs. BW Tokens. All of the solid matchups today, eh? His first play on the draw was turn 3 Spectral Procession. I ramped and had multiple kill cons in Hour of Promise, Scapeshift, and Prime Time. In the next game, I only had 1 win-con in Scapeshift, but drew into 2 more. He swung me to lethal next turn with some Kor Firewalkers and Honor of the Pure, but I Scapeshift for lethal. 2-0.
