6 mana is the sweet point of etron imo. Especially if you play mindstones. Ugin does enough good things to be worth that slot.
Could be! I'll try it out probably.
I've never played with Karn myself, but I've never really felt too threatened by him whenever my opponent's had him on the board. I haven't played against the new Ugin either hehe, but even the thought of facing his abilities makes me start to sweat hehe.
The greatest thing about Ugin is the army of kamikaze tokens he creates that are 100% value no matter what happens. Perfect blockers, great attackers and the opponent has to constantly think if he wants to give you that card that's under the token. And they don't even have to die! They just have to leave the battlefield. This is craaaaaazy good in Eldrazi Tron. I'm super excited about playing 2x Ugin and 2x New Karn in the main deck in half a month.
Hey guys what do you think about Blast Zone for Eldrazi Tron? I am pretty excited about it. I feel it might be the best utility land we could wish for, flexibel removal in a land slot - perfect. I will try it for sure and drop Ghost Quarter and maybe a Cavern for it.
Currently running no Mind stone or collars. Instead running 3 relics main due to Dredge and Phoenix.
In two weeks planning to cut the 2 Karn Liberated for 2 Ugins, and 1 GQ for the Blast Zone. Don’t see room for 2 Karns the Creator in the main. Maybe cutting one Relic for 1 Karn main so he can act as a pseudo relic. And the other one side.
With blast zone, I can cut one of the 2 ratchet bombs in the side.
Hey, very sweet deck!! I love all those japanese first editions, very well done!!
I went the the foil route for my deck and also some japanese editions, but only for the eldrazi spells. Couldn't help to take some pictures of my current eldrazi tron binder:
Personaly i am not super convinced by new Ugin. I find 6 non-Eldrazi Mana are a tough spot, because it means you either have to have tron online or its pretty late game und you already played most of your handcards. Both ways I expect new Ugins static ability not to be very relevant. The removal and the Tokens are nice but i am not sure it is enough.
I can see what you mean about Ugin. I guess it's like a "win more" card due to his mana cost. He just looks really strong to me, particularly in grindy games.
But you have way more experience with this deck than me hehe, so I will definitely take your word for it. I just really want him to be good hehe.
Sorry for double post, but how do you guys deal with Damping Sphere? is the only thing being lucky enough to get a chalice down for 2 somehow before they get it?
I'm thinking it's going to be brutal game two with the London mulligan rule where people can mull until they get it and kill tron.
I'm not aware of any colourless cards that can kill artifacts hehe.
Which decks are you worried about Damping Sphere out of? Humans and Hardened Scales play it but they are already awful matchups so it doesn't make a big difference there Sometimes UWx will have it but it's not a huge deal, if you're playing Mind Stones anyway. Most of the cards in the deck cost less than 5 mana so yeah it's not a big deal. Also Ratchet Bomb can kill it.
I don't know which specific decks I'd be worried about them, I just get ****ed pretty hard whenever I'm playing with my mates hehe. Whenever I tell them I'm playing eldrazi tron, they jam Damping Spheres in their decks and kill me hard hehe. My group of friends who play Magic pretty much all use "anything goes" type decks, but it's mostly modern legal stuff, so nothing too competitive. I'm just worried about it having faced Damping Sphere in our games hehe.
Oh right, I forgot about Ratchet Bomb.
Would it make any sense having some Eternal Scourge in the deck given the London Mulligan rule? I think they're a little clunky for the tron style Eldrazi, but they're cool in some matchups.
I am not very happy either when i see Damping Sphere across the the table. Some people say Eldrazi Tron is not very much harmed by DampSph but i disagree. T5 Smashers are not very threatening in Modern. We need mana accelaration, otherwise we are just a pretty slow beat-down deck, which gets killed before it kills.
Being in colorless, there are not many answers to DS. One is Ratchet Bomb, the other is the new Ratchet Land, Blast Zone. (Chalice is not an option imo, there is no way you can cast it for x=2 before T3 when DS is already on the field)
Ratchet and Blast can remove Damping on T4 earliest. These tools are surely not ideal, but thats the price we pay for playing a colorless deck. At least Blast Zone has a pretty low effort to include it in the deck, because you can always just use it as a colorless land if you dont need the removal and it is searchable via map. I have the strong feeling it fits perfectly in Eldrazi Tron for these reasons.
About the Scourge: I dont see how the London Mulligan makes it any better without Serum Powder. Am I missing something?
Ah yeah, my bad, I forgot the Serum Powder thing... My bad.
It's funny how much I like playing with Eldrazi Tron, but the colourless Eldrazi deck that's been making the rounds with the London mull, that doesn't run Tron, looks really boring to me. I've seen a lot of streams and videos with it and it just looks like a boring deck to play where this is really fun to me hehe.
Blast Zone is very cool. Comes in untapped and it can free up space for other cards in the sideboard if you run them. I think it's going to be a major player in modern.
Yeah same for me, colorless eldrazi stompy is somehow boring and too linear to me. I would miss the spicy cards like Ulamog, All is Dust or Ballista. Eldrazi Tron is a little bit like gambling, good hands can feel very exciting whereas bad hands dont do a lot and can be quite frustating. ETron has often been described as very consistent, i dont really see that, i think the deck has a pretty high variance. That keeps it interesting but makes it a bad choice for players who want a very reliable deck. Sometimes I wish i had a more reliable deck and i try something else like burn or affinity, but in the end i always come to the same conclusion: I play ETron or no magic. Smashers and Ulamogs are just too cool
Yeah, I was thinking of grindy matchups as well. (Atm running Karn the scion of Urza for grindy matches, Ugin would be cool to try and take that spot.

Actually had everything foil (8th edition tron), but then wanted to get back into Legacy... So downgraded to Japanese non-foil for my decks.
Any comments on the build and my plans going forward after Spark?
Keep that binder some place safe!
