By the way, playing not Tier Decks in modern is OK.i play now since 1 year eldrazi stompy and was allways 13 times in a row place 1-3 in different stores (Tier 4). Even then guys laugh about this deck and say allways it is Bad on big tournaments till it won now the biggest classic Ever. After Them pros Like Jim davis try it and go 5:0...then channel fireball and again 5:0...now all know the power. So modern is not important if Tier 1 or Tier 4. play what you want
Eldrazi tron moves sure on middle of Tier 2...or hated out complete. If you say it is OK, no Problem...if not, sell your chalice bevor all realize it too
Selling our Chalices doesn't sound very wise. The deck may be becoming less played but there is no reason to start selling off pieces at this time. We may even get a slight bump in players/play when the new Karn comes out as well.

Hey everyone! I am starting to build eldrazi tron as it is a deck that has been on my wishlist for a while.
Quick question though: Why doesn't the deck play Kozilek, Butcher of Truth? I feel like for 10 mana having access to annihilator as well as drawing four cards on its cast is far greater than ulamog ceaseless hunger?
Other than that, I'm excited to join the forum since i've mostly been an elves and jeskai player for a while

I'm pretty excited for new Karn in our deck. I think it generates really good card advantage while also sticking on the board very well thanks to our creatures to protect it. I think if you exclude the inevitability of the token generation, over the course of a few turns the extra cards you would see with this card will help us get the mana to play our cards, whether it be through finding tron lands our just lands in general. It could help smooth out flooding/screw, which is the single biggest issue the deck has. As someone who already preferred Ulamog to Karn Liberated in the current meta, I can see myself moving wurmcoil to the side and having 2x Bringers, 2x New Karn, and 1x Ulamog for an end game. Maybe going up to 3 or even 4 Mind Stones for further early game mana and artifact synergy with Karn. I'm pretty stoked for a 4 drop through blood moon that guarantees us extra cards. Even just two turns of use is two extra cards, which seems quite likely with 6 loyalty on turn 4 after a +1. As long as the format doesn't turn into a total aggro fest, this card is going to be amazing for our deck.

Good points. I'm excited as well. Looks like Baby Karn is already pre-selling at 30 bucks a pop. He possibly slots into other decks as well. He isn't going to be cheap. Well this isn't a cheap hobby anyway. I may have to proxy him up and test him out.

Ulamog's double exile ability is on cast as well. On top of that Kozilek can be chump blocked all day even with annihilator going, while Ulamog will win you the game with likely 2 attacks with his mill ability if blocked. Kozilek is no slouch but new Ulamog is just better imho.

I have also been looking at Kozilek, Butcher of Truth as an inclusion in the deck. I've always like annihilator and he does seem like a slightly bigger powerhouse than Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger, although, being able to exile problem permanents on casting is definitely nice.

Dont forget that Newlamog is indestructible which is a huge advantage over the other titans. He cant be deathtouched or destroyed, which blanks a decent amount of removal spells. He still can be pathed though, but he is clearly more resilient than his brothers, beside big Emrakul.
This is pretty bad as a one-of, but with two or three on the battlefield this could produce a ton of extra mana. But maybe not reliant enough? And i would definatly miss the cycle ability of mind stone.
Seems worse than Mind Stone. I guess you'd have to ask yourself how many games do you play with 2 or 3 Mind Stones on the field. With no way to tutor these up it really doesn't seem worth an inclusion. You could proxy it up and play test it but I think you have already guessed that it won't be reliable enough.
And yes Newlamog dodges a lot of removal out there as well, old Kozilek does not.

A question for side boarding considerations. Does anyone bother siding in Pithing Needle against Jund? The two targets that I have considered are Fulminator Mage and Liliana of the Veil. I know they have main deck artifact destruction but I was wondering if needle helps that much.
What are your guys' thoughts on swapping back to Tectonic Edge over Ghost Quarter? The most important matchups for the card are GX Tron, Titanshift, then to a slightly lesser extent Affinity and Eldrazi Tron. Outside of that it's largely used for manland destruction. With GX Tron and Titanshift, Ghost Quarter can be quite underwhelming because it ends up making us behind a land if they have a basic to fetch. Not only that, but it does not answer a resolving Scapeshift unless the Titanshift player has no basic mountain left in their deck. We now have mono Green Tron being the most popular flavor, which has a bunch of Thought-Knots and Thragtusks in the side. What that means is post-board is simply is not enough to slow their assembly of tron, all they need are 4 or 5 lands to establish plenty of board presence to buy them the time to hardcast a Wurmcoil or Karn. They have 4 or 5 basic forests, and I'm thinking a better approach to both of these matchups can be Tec Edge, which will actually slow down their land drops. The downside is it only costs 1 more mana to activate over Quarter, and the upside seems like a step in the right direction for two of our roughest matchups.
Another route to take would be Field of Ruin and bumping the waste count higher, but I'm not at all a fan of that strategy as it doesn't take maximum advantage of our playset of Expedition Map.
In addition to those points, this would make Crucible of Worlds a more legitimate 1-of in the side. For GX tron and Scapeshift, Tec Edge + crucible can totally shut them down from playing lands. They literally need to draw lands to keep up, and once they don't draw a land we continue developing a board with other lands. Crucible has value against really hard control decks like UW control and Jeskai (no queller) control, which IMO wasn't enough reason to run the card since those are decent matchups but with Tec Edge in the main deck I can see Crucible being quite playable. I currently only have 14 cards locked in for my sideboard and I'm quite interested in trying out this configuration for a couple tournaments. What do you guys think? Any support or counter-points?
I can also see Blight Herder being even better than I previously mentioned before the BBE unbanning. I likely won't be testing it maindeck because I don't and won't run relics maindeck, but that 15th slot in the sideboard could indeed become Blight Herder over Wurmcoil #2, which it currently is.
Sometime over the weekend I'd like to get some discussion on sideboarding for a few matchups, will post that when I get the time.

You can give it a try, but I think you will find it slow, clunky and wishing you didn't have it in hand or drawing it. Any deck can go 4-1 or 5-1 with a couple of pet cards or bricks in its 75 keep in mind. Give it a shot and find out for yourself.

Went 3-1 at fnm. Beat budget merfolk (barely ugh), grixis pyromancer with ease (chalice on 1 and 2) and jeskai control (went to time). Lost to gr tron. Feels unwinnable but I decided to go back up to 2 Ghost Quarter main as a second would have kept him off of tron g2. Took out 2 All Is Dust and 1 Dismember and put in 3 Pithing Needle (which yes is a lot in the board but I'm scared of tron and jace in my meta). What are your guys' thoughts on the big tron mu?

I don't see this as necessary. I would rather have 2 more Endbringer in my main. Also if this deck does need a bit more draw power then I think Karn, Scion of Urza is a way better card to build around.
I wouldn't run it because it just doesn't net card advantage or progress the board state. Most of the situations that I end up in where I need to draw cards is because I have no cards in hand. Azor's Gateway doesn't help. In the odd situation that I have a high casting cost card that I can't play then maybe but this seems too situational. If there is a need for extra card draw there are other artifacts out there would be just as good if not better because they would draw you cards without the need to exile anything. Also even if this card ever did flip ... not likely is my guess there is so much land destruction in modern that I don't think it would last long.
@evilford - I have 4 x Ghost Quarter main just for the mirror. I wouldn't play any less. I also run 1 or 2 Surgical Extraction in my sideboard not specifically for the tron mirror but I side them in. As much as Ghost Quarter + Surgical Extraction is a less then optimal situation, my play testing has brought me to the conclusion that the tron mirror is about 2 situations: who goes first and who assembles tron first. Buying myself enough time by using Ghost Quarter + surgical extraction helps when I'm on the play and / or when I'm not going to get to tron first.
Also if Damping Sphere is an actual card then what is Eldrazi tron going to do about it? Some of the cards that they have printed make me think that G/R Eldrazi is looking better positioned in the meta then other builds of tron.
Its been pretty good. I have never been a fan of running 4 chalice's bc tbh i find countering my own maps to be pretty unproductive unless its absolutely needed and in the current meta 4 seems to be too much and do to little in many match ups. 2 chalice has felt right and i believe is perfect in the current modern climate.
Mind stone seems to be very uncommon now in many Etron decks. but with the rise of blood moon decks i believe it is more essential to mainboard them. The late game draws are also not too bad as everyone here probably knows.
Phyrexian metamorph is very uncommon but i think its very undervalued. Its very very good. you have the option to copy alot of great stuff which leads to my next point. which is bringing in more fatties. wurmcoil is too good not to include right now.
Warping wail main has saved me from early molten rains and other land destruction bs from GR ponza and is positioned real well atm. Gets rid of those confidants too.
Ideally id run 1-2 cavern of souls but those prices weigh heavily on my soul.
what are your guys thought on batterskull atm? i feel it would be pretty good but have not tested it at all. i wonder how it would be with phyrexian metamorph copying it.
