What's your opinion on witchbane orb in a burn heavy meta, and also a consistent scapeshift and storm player?
It seems like a great sideboard card to me. Or is it too slow?
It's solid against Burn and Storm. Not so great against Titan Shift because they can still kill all your creatures with Valakuts and just kill you with Titans, but it can buy time. It's also pretty nice against Lantern, as they can't target you with Codex Shredder and Lantern, and with less relevance Mishra's Bauble and discard spells. But it is a bit slow overall, as you mention.
I was playing UR delver one night and ended up playing against 2x eldrazitron and 1x G/x tron out of 4 matches. Ugh.
Lost the first Etron (1-2), won the 2nd against G/X tron (survived blood moon). Anyway for the last game we tied, and here's one spicy card that was played against me and my merry men...I mean, my elemental 1/1's:
Nobody was expecting UR pyromancer/delver that night and this shut me off really quick. Didn't have time to ask around what that card actually was against. Any ideas?
It's basically the same card as Witchbane Orb so everything said above applies. It's better against Storm though because it shuts down Empty as well as Grapeshot. Eldrazi Tron tends to run Witchbane because it's slightly easier to cast. Tron doesn't need to worry about that as much and can pay the full 5 for Orbs.
You're referring to a local meta I assume? Of course that's different as they don't change nearly as quickly as the online or GP/SCG meta. The tier ratings are not super relevant at an FNM environment anyway. In the larger meta this deck is not tier 1 based on the results from the past few weeks. All the matchups you listed you played against and had no trouble against are fine to good matchups for Eldrazi Tron so that's not a surprise.
Also Burn, Affinity, and Storm are not nearly auto-losses for Gx Tron. Burn is unfavorable but very winnable, Storm is unfavorable game 1 but favorable post-side, and Affinity isn't bad at all. You have early removal, World Breakers and Oblivion Stones that just wreck them. Plus Nature's Claim post-board. Gx Tron is waay better against Affinity than E-tron is. Also the reason why Gx Tron is good right now is decks like Burn are not seeing a lot of play at the moment.
Haha, you're worried about posting a decklist on here because of an RPTQ and some random player stumbling upon it?
The decks tier status isn't a problem, it's the matchups I have now observed in multiple stores and mtgo itself. The deck is poorly positioned with a lot of bad matchups. Matchups really spiral out of control with very little you can do against go wide decks, affinity, etc. This is a great deck, but this is also a deck that doesn't take one's play skills into account quite as much as other mid-range decks. I can't control if I died on turn 4 because my Tron lands couldn't quite get there.
I've literally played Ponza 4 times this month. At an IQ last week, I made a meta call to play Jund, my very first opponent was Ponza. I would have lost bad.
An RPTQ I went to a few weeks before that, the room was filled with Eldrazi Tron, none made it to the top 8. There were a ton of go wide decks and Affinity
The deck isn't in a good spot now. It'll come back when the meta shifts, the deck is too powerful to stay bad. But I definitely think this is a poor choice to pilot if you have other decks available to you.
Looks decent. IMHO, you should remove 2x Basilisk Collar and 1x Ratchet Bomb and put in Dismembers, Warping Wails, Spatial Contortions and/or a 3rd All Is Dust.

The deck are still one of the strongest decks in the format.
You need to call the meta and make the main after that. Some people only play one deck, and dont have more than that.
I wouldn't mind to play vs affi, poza, 5c-human, band knightfall or storm. I have tuned my deck to play against those decks.
Interested in seeing a list
Me too. I'd like to see the sideboard plan for 5C Humans.

I've been seeing the Ponza deck a LOT. If I were on Eldrazi Tron it would be OK, I think it's actually a totally fine matchup with the right configuration, but I've been on GB Tron so it's been really frustrating. Not just that, I'm seeing a lot of other decks with maindeck Blood Moon too. I've run into both UR Emrakul Breach and UR Kiki-Jiki multiple times recently, and random RB/Mardu decks with MD Moon as well. I guess everyone is trying to wreck Humans' greedy manabase. Pretty garbage meta at the moment if you ask me.
Kiki Jiki and UR Breach have been talked about a lot. I saw some mention in a Starcity article or two, multiple discussions on PODcasts and then recently Modernnexus posted an article and video series of it.
I'm seeing a lot of Ponza, too, it's a response to E-Tron, regular Tron and Humans.
The meta isn't garbage, it's just---not well suited for the two decks you like.
FWIW, I really hate land destruction, and I'm not just saying that because I like playing Tron decks. I've had the Crucible/GQ lock going with my deck before, and I've always felt bad when I did it. There's a certain level of sadism to people who like that kind of strategy... lol.
I'd actually consider running something like Jund right now if it wasn't so expensive. I mean whose got $1600 for a deck, or $2400 to get it online as well. One expensive deck across both paper and MTGO is all I'm willing to do, so it's ET or bust for me. I have a tournament on Sunday, gonna go into without having played for a couple weeks. Oh well, it is what it is.

Can't it be both? I don't think it's unreasonable to say that when a large portion of the meta is playing a card designed to stop your opponent from playing Magic in the main deck (Blood Moon), that's a garbage meta.
Though I maintain that the Moon decks aren't that big of a problem for Eldrazi Tron; your spells don't cost that much, you get to play Mind Stones, and you can play 3 Wastes to mitigate the effect further, which I've been doing for some time. It's Gx Tron that has the real issues with it. E-Tron seems like the better of the 2 at the moment, so I'm probably gonna fire it up again.
Lantern (2-1)
8rack (2-0)
GW Company (Ghost Quarter deck) (1-2)
UB Control (0-2)
Affinity (2-0)
3-2
Jeskai Tempo (2-0)
Counters Company (2-0)
Grixis Shadow (2-0)
Storm (2-0)
GR Tron (2-1)
5-0
Nothin wrong with that meta for this deck. Running 4 Mind Stone and 3 Wails main made the Ponza matchup easy, but I didn't see any dedicated Blood Moon decks other than that, or any Humans which was nice. The only weird one was that UB Control deck - he had a bunch of maindeck Vedalken Shackles which was just unbeatable.
So any thoughts on Immortal Sun? coming in Rivals of Ixalan?
Worth replacing Karn or not? Shuts down Walkers pretty well but as most artifacts is prone to removal. The buff for our creatures and mana discount seems decent. Kinda like a fixed half strength Eye of Ugin. Although this seems SLOW.
I'll post what I said in the spoiler thread on this…
"But... the mana reduction on ALL spells you cast is nice. The +1/+1 buff works well with Walking Ballista keeping it alive when drained of counters. Free card draw is always welcome in EldraziTron as well. A turn 3 play off natural Tron could be this, then it discounts 2 mana spells like Ballista, Contortion, Warping Wail, Mind Stone or Chalice set on one played that same turn. I am interested for sure, but its this or Karn and Karn is Karn."

Interesting card, reminds of Staff of Nin, which isn't good enough for our deck IMHO. I feel like for 6 mana it needs to do something now. Could be really good in the U/W control matchup if you can get it down. Would also be decent vs R/W Prison. Maybe if those decks had a big meta share?
Looks like something I would test though because I like to test new things.
It's unplayable. Go with The Promised End if you must. After testing, I'd actually run two Ulamogs if I ever run two Titans again. Ulamog is so much better than any of the other Titans it's not even funny.

regular Tron may be better than it looks with players on a plan to stop all these go wide decks
