Honestly I don't think the deck needs more consistency so much as a green permanent that interacts with the opponent. Some sort of Fight ETB or O-ring type effect...a tax for small dudes..I dunno. The deck needs some degree of disruption to make it competitive, and waiting for Acidic Slime or Hornet Queen is just not enough.
Very interesting Discussion on the new 3 drop walkers, excited to test them out.
@Gruulmeharder: Couldn't agree more on the interaction part. We are slower than the best linear decks in modern, that means we have to pack some sort of interaction to buy us the extra time we need to set up. Primal Command had pretty much exactly this purpose, buying us another turn against many decks in the format.
Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner: With her we can pretty consistently go:
T1: Land, Utopia Sprawl/Arbor Elf/Wild Growth (gogo MH;))
T2: Land and best case another Ramp on a forest, play kiora, untap the double enchanted land into another 3 drop.
T3: Very high chance to make 5+ Mana
Domri, Anarch of Bolas If a list includes Kiora and plays strong creatures to maximize her synergy he provides the removal while still being a good T2 play on its own as he provides additional ramp, compared to Domri Rade
Will definetely return to devotion when the new set comes out, trying to maximize the synergy of the new cards. Going to post a list later this week, including the new cards.
@curdbros, is there a reason you write Grull instead of Gruul? ^^
I just built Titanshift and took it to my LGS last week, but I'm already wanting to start tinkering with these new cards in the Devotion deck. I guess I won't be able to break away from Devo, even with a supposedly "more proven" tournament deck.
So I'm posting the updated Primer stuff (just some improvements planned prior, etc.) but should I include some of the newer cards in the "Card Discussion" (Like Kiora, etc.). I'll wait on Finale until it is officially spoiled (although it is 95% real)…. Just didn't know where to put the cutoff.
They spoiled the blue Finale officially; so it looks like the green one is real.
_____
P.S. my current deck is mono-green. Should I run a 1-of Blast Zone as potential removal (given I have many ways to put counters on it, untap it, and use it in the same turn)?
The green Finale is certainly powerful and flexible, but my gut says it's too slow/expensive. If you need to ramp it costs at least 2 (No turn 1 Dryad Arbor, so it cant replace any of our 1 drop ramp cards like GSZ would).
As a finisher it's more expensive than either Tooth and Nail or Pact into Craterhoof, both of which end the game on the spot, and if you're finding a silver bullet paying two extra is pretty rough; 5 for a rec sage just doesn't seem good enough.

This is a good point. Speed is everything in Modern. That is the nicest part about Pact (that it costs nothing upfront). I could see it as a potential 1-2 of even at its expense as it can be used as a finisher once you have a ton of mana while also tutoring other creatures (including non-green ones in the board) in a pinch. I do think it will have to be tested.
The only card I am absolutely certain of is Kiora thus far; but the power level of this set is insane.
I’m just saying that I like he new hydra. It can’t be pushed or bolted. And with kiora and garruk it’s fat.
Haha! I said that to my brother...I said, “I know I always fall in love with win-more cards...but that Hydra would be like. 15/15 with Kiora and Garruk...”
A really fun deck would be a Temur deck with Garruk, Kiora, and Domri (4-drop)...that way you can dig for the Hydra and give it haste! Turn 3, 20/20 haste/trample god hand
The new hydra is bonkers with Kiora, that's for sure. With another Walker that grants haste (like 4cmc Domri, or Sarkhan Vol, it might be the best 5cmc finisher for a superfriends list.
I was just goldfishing with a temur Superfriends deck with Kiora, Garruk, Kiora Master OD, Sarkhan Vol, Domri, Anarch of Bolas, and Genesis Wave....and it can make a 20+/20+ Hydra with haste and trample by turn 3...
Granted, they can just Path the Hydra; but then You are left with a board full of walkers that can “go off” next turn :). If nothing else it is a budget friendly Modern deck that is crazy fun and explosive. What a fun set WAR ended up being.

I’m super excited for the combo deck too. After I get the Primer stuff in perfect order, I’ll play it in some leagues and see how it goes online (one of the tougher parts is just playing the loops on MTGO).
That temur list sounds super fun. Probably too far down the rabbit hole, but my first thought was to include Trophy Mage or one of the Tezzerets to tutor up a singleton cloudstone curio.
P.S. my current deck is mono-green. Should I run a 1-of Blast Zone as potential removal (given I have many ways to put counters on it, untap it, and use it in the same turn)?
I don't think Blast Zone is worth it. It's tutorable with Primeval Titan but we are so dependant on T1 untapped green source, that even running 4 Nykthos is hard sometimes. Especially since we're running only 20-21 lands.
As you mentioned we can get the most of it with all the untapping and extra mana. My estimation is that the downside of having to play an additional colorless land is not worth the potential upside.
Hi there, So I've been a long time lurker of this primer Like year and a half. since I decided I wanted to play the best damn big mana deck ever and I can honestly say that green devotion is probably the most fun deck I've played. It just feels super satisfying to play and when it has some nut hands feels really unfair vs decks that it can just go over top of. I've been trying to really streamline a Summoner's Pact List for a while but Im not entirely sure if it can be done, I think we are missing just a couple of really good interaction creatures in order to effectively run a Silver bullet list. This is the current deck list I've been tinkering with.
So far I've enjoyed this list but I feel Im lacking interaction. I've also cut Primal Command & Eternal Witness honestly because during play they are really good cards but something needed to be trimmed out to make the list 60, not sure if it was the right call considering it is probably the best interaction we have but with both kiora and gurrak I've no had any problems with generating the mana to make a turn 4 bullet happen. actually had a game where it went as followed
T1: Breeding Pool + Arbor Elf
T2: Forest tap cast Utopia Sprawl tap out for 4 with 2u 2g, play Kiora, Master of the Depths use her +1 cast Garruk Wildspeaker +1 Into Steel Leaf Champion
T3: PLay Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx tap out for 14 mana using Kiora +1' into Chorded Craterhoof Behemoth and then Ulted Garruk Wildspeaker For metric crapton of damages.
So Im very much enjoying the ramp portion of this deck even with only 1 dork and a sprawl Im just wanting to see what you guys think about it. I also needed to run Chord of Calling for instant speed and can pull Creature cards not just green for Wurmcoil. But what you guys think.
Also I just reread the text of the new green finale it reads library and/or graveyard, does this mean it fetches two creatures or just one. Cause the former changes everything
the Wording for two creatures is more like "[..]up to 2 creatures" . The and/or means only you can search both graveyard and library.
@ForsakenGamers
A nice classic Devotion list. I prefer Primal Command for interaction/disruption. I'm running 6 tutor's (4x Pact , 2x Command)
The reason was mention here only 2 days ago

For myself i'm looking for simic coloured cards for this form of interaction.
I agree I think primal is amazing for green as it's one of the best forms of disruption and interaction we have I'm just not sure, I'm trying to really push the speed of this deck so the need for interaction is lessened, been brainstorming the new finale alot so far, just thinking about what's the best creature to tutor with 14 or mana rn. Griselbrand came to mind but it's probably just a win more card at that point
Oven been wondering whether any of the uncommon 3-drop walkers are good enough for my board (as they can be grabbed via Oath of Nissa, etc.). The following are ones I’m considering:
Dovin is just a Thalia effect, Ashiok is both land hate and tutor/Fetch Land hate, and Narset kills decks like Storm, Cherrios, Phoenix, etc.
Three is more than 2-cmc; but with a Dork I can still get them down on turn 2. And with Oath of Nissa they can be used as a Combo piece.
What are your thoughts? This really is more for the Walker deck(s) rather than an “every Devotion deck” thing...so I do understand if you haven’t played the deck and don’t have an opinion/thought.

Will slot right in my Green-based EDH decks, and hopefully in devotion too.
I even wonder if it will still be worth playing Pact with it in the deck...
Modern : Solemnity Prison Martyr Proc Devotion to Green 8 Whacks Eldrazi Processor Bogles Landfall Aggro
Legacy : Goblins

As already mentioned we have a lot of 4 power creatures with CMC under 4 at our disposal to get more value out of her:
Steel Leaf Champion , Leatherback Baloth, Boon Satyr, Prowling Serpopard, Rhonas the Indomitable, Talara's Battalion, Yasova Dragonclaw.
Domri, Anarch of Bolas If a list includes Kiora and plays strong creatures to maximize her synergy he provides the removal while still being a good T2 play on its own as he provides additional ramp, compared to Domri Rade
