I don't understand how Genesis Hydra can be that hard of a fix on MTGO... They got Genesis Wave to work for every number except for X=2 (no idea why that in particular is an issue); so Hydra can't be that much tougher. It's not like it's the first card to reveal the top cards of your library and give you a choice.
I just would really like to try my deck in a competitive league; but currently MTGO is actively keeping me from giving them my money
I've been inactive on mtgo for more than 2 years, waiting for the software to catch up to something that I can enjoy. I've been thinking about selling out of paper and into mtgo (saving only edh in paper) but it seems my favorite deck still has issues. I think they are just treading water until Digital Next. I know software development and it feels like the whole program has been in a holding pattern for the last few years... Which is sad considering how much $ the thing makes.

Unless there's a significant drop in $ being made on mtgo I feel they never will give it the overhaul it deserves.
He went 3-0 to start!!! then 0-2 ....guess the reason? GENESIS HYDRA BUG! Ugh...On the whole however, he was super positive about the deck and he plans on playing it again if (big if) and when they fix Genesis Hydra.
I've tried to think of another card that would work in a similar fasion that I could replace it with; but between Kiora and Oath grabbing creatures, it being able to give you a body and a card, the cast trigger getting around counters, etc....there simply isn't a choice that would perform close to the same.
What a cool list! Interesting idea not playing Garruk...but with much less focus on Nykthos, her going to 5, and her -2 ability being able to draw you out when you are behind....I could see how she is better in a Tooth and Nail list playing heavily on the combo...
Small change to list....trying out a 1-of Duskwatch Recruiter in place of the Abundant Growth. Not sure if I have enough 1-drops/ramp (I'm not sure if it shouldn't just be a Fertile Ground or Voyaging Satyr); but it seems to play our fine.
It's a great card to hit off Woodland Bellower if you have a ton of extra mana; and is a relatively strong late top deck (as you can trigger him instantly).
Broke down and started mtgo up again today... Wow. I wish there was a way to demonstrate a loop and have mtgo replay the loop x times because my list is terrible to pilot online, and salty opponents get salty faster when Curio triggers for everything going on. That said, interface aside it was really fun, with close games. Eternal Witness is a serious workhorse in the deck. 3 card combos are hard but she gets anything I am missing, and I can keep picking her up from Curio + Garruk / Xenagos making tokens. I really love the deck, and hope to play in a league once I get some more mtgo practice reps in. You have to pay fast with all those triggers!
Anyway, here is my current list. It hasn't changed much, but I don't get to play it often. Any help is appreciated!
Also, I have seen several people playing Doubling Season on twitch lately. I might have to swap to that deck if the Curio / infinite loops thing online get too old.
Love the deck Robrone! It's actually not too bad of a loop once you've got it down.. I got to where I could go pretty darn quick with it after a week or two. I love the interaction between walkers a Curio. It just is so exploitable and plays so well with what we already do.p (lots of ETB permanents). The list looks good.
Todd Stevens has done a TON with Doubling Season; so I'd definitely advise watching his videos as well. I've got a devotion doubling season list if you'd like a starting point (I have no doubt you'd improve it) as well if you'd like it ,
I've been playing/testing A LOT and working toward getting more visibility for the archetype. I'll write a bit more tomorrow about when I have some time
I wanted to bring up a discussion about Eldritch Evolution that I saw on here a little while back. I'm really excited to start testing combinations of Summoner's pact and Eldritch Evolution to do some broken things early on in games. Maybe it's not meant to be in a devotion build, but I'd still like to test it out. I saw people discussing the potential brokenness when used with Allosaurus Rider. Maybe there can be a way to fit this combo into a devotion build without having to completely build around it. It opens up the possibility of having an off color fatty as your finisher too. Let me know what you guys think, or if this idea really doesn't fit with devotion.
Putting the Rider into an Elves shell is probably the safest bet, it goes right into the plan of turn 2 Griselbrand if you can ramp hard with elves, drop Evo, cheat Allo via discard, and sac to grab Griselbrand. I like that best of anything I've seen so far.
Been testing like crazy...counting down the days until Genesis Hydra is legal on MTGO...but have thought of some interesting points and came across a Devotion deck that top 8'd a Modern IQ!!
First, here is the top 8 info from a Grull (GR) Devotion deck that recently got a top 8 in a Modern IQ:
Has some really interesting and fun stuff going on. I love my old school favorite of Silent Arbiter with Wolf Run. Makes me feel like it was a member of our community here (or at minimum someone who is a historical follower of our thread.
Green/Red has always been a good choice for devotion and this deck shows that it can compete. I'd love to hear thoughts from either the Pilot or from those playing similar lists.

I've been testing a Green/Blue version forever based pretty much due to the fact that Kiora, Master of the Depths is absolutely nuts...having access to eight four-drop walkers that can be cast on turn 2 (with Arbor Elf+Utopia Sprawl) and fit perfectly into the way the deck likes to play is huge.
The takeaways I've had thus far are:
1. Oath of Nissa is a green-devotion staple. I play 4 copies in every devotion deck I play. I could possibly see an argument for 3, but I would play 5 if they'd let me
2. Kiora, Master of the Depths is crazy good. She ramps and she draws...this is exactly what Simic devotion wants. You can cast her as early as turn 2 For free (if you untap). I've been utilizing her -2 more and more aggressively lately and it can dig us to wins quite often. In the right builds you will "draw 2 cards out if your top 4" a vast majority of the time.
3. Craterhoof Behemoth is most likely the best mono-green finisher available to us. Obviously it has drawbacks (requires a creature-heavy deck, costs 8-CMC, etc) but I've won more games on the spot with this card than anything other than Wave in my past Wave decks).
4. The land enchantments are really important to a Simic Devotion deck. between Arbor Elf, Garruk, and Kiora, being sure that a land can tap for 2+ mana drastically speeds up the deck; and makes for faster, larger turns. I may be the only person to play and like Fertile Ground, but I prefer to have a few more than 4 land enchantments...Overgrowth is good too; but I feel like Fertile Ground makes for slightly faster curves.
I'm currently working on:
1. Whether BTE (Burning-Tree Emissary should be in the deck,
2. How many Karns (if any) should be main deck and/or sideboard.
3. The assortment of Wistful Selkie's and Eternal Witness's (how many of each)
4. Whether to run 3x Craterhoof or 2x Hoof and 1x Decimator of Provinces
5. Sideboard options/game plans. The deck doesn't like to board much so I'm trying to decide the best way to board for the top tier decks.
This may seem like a lot, but it's really not a ton. I have a pretty good sense of the main deck and game one plan (I call it "Overwhelm and Overrun")...it's just a matter of making sure I have the most consistently fast main deck that still allows for ample card draw.
I'll post more about the deck later this afternoon.
Just putting the one Karn in my deck has felt great. Just another win con we can get to fast.
I think you've got it right. It is just a great tool to remove a problem card that can also work as a win-con quite easily. I'm thinking one in the main one in the board is probably perfect for me. Once you get into the 2+ main range it starts to become the "point" of the deck (i.e. getting a turn 3 Karn).
Thanks for your help! It's always great to have multiple opinions from others; especially players I have deep respect for and know are long-term Devotion aficionados like you I honestly feel like Devotion is at a great place in the current meta (great against Jund, great against Affinity games 2-3 especially, good against burn, have great tools against control, etc.). Infect is a tough match up for us for sure...and something I'd love to beat without the use of Melira; but at least we have that option
I've been out of the loop with what others were doing with this deck for a while, and I've clearly wandered down a different rabbit hole with it. But I've been really happy with my list and I figure maybe I can get someone else to give it a go, or see if anyone has any suggestions.
It's basically mono green Valakut, and it works surprisingly well. It originally started as trying to find ways to abuse Nissa, Worldwaker. She's since been cut, but everything still adds plenty of value to what the deck wants to do anyways. The game plan is the same as any other list, it's just a lot harder to whiff on Genesis Wave, but you don't have any single card finishers like Hoof or Wolf Run.
Prismatic Omen does a ton of small stuff other than just enable Valakut. It makes Arbor Elf more versatile with Nykthos. It makes Fetchlands significantly better, especially after a Genesis Wave. And gives us another serviceable devotion enchantment.
While Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle is easily the worst land in the deck, it's also a huge bonus to the stuff the deck does anyways. They give Primeval Titan a more immediate impact on the board.
The above list is what I'm currently running, but it changes a lot. I just recently dropped blue (Coiling Oracle, and Gifts Ungiven) in favour of a better mana base, it was super greedy before. I could probably consolidate some of the 1-2 of cards, and I completely missed the boat on Oath of Nissa, and have been really impressed with them in the short time I've been playing with them. I'd love any input or suggestions, or questions, anyone might have.

Went 3-0 at the saturday modern event where I live and 4-2 at the thursday one losing to merfolk and dredge.
I dont remeber all the decks/matches I played against on thursday so ill go over the saturday event.
round 1 i played against nahiri went 2-0.
round 2 played against storm went 2-1, it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. scavenging ooze and primal command kept him down long enough for me to kill him. since it was only a 3 round event due to only 9 ppl playing with 1 having dropped i played with my hand revealed the whole match and showed him what i was bringing in and taking out for the lolz.
round 3 was against the dredge guy who beat me on thursday i 2-0'd him too. I definitely need surgical extraction in the side.
on thurday i beat possibility storm, a 200+ card deck based on some card that makes you win the game if your deck has 200 or more cards in it but it was basically a bant coco deck, grixis delver, and naya burn.
the only thing i changed in the deck from thursday to saturday was moving the dismemebers back into the sideboard and adding two voyaging satyrs to the main deck. I might take out 1 of my 4 of birds of paradise to make room for a third satyr also i need 1 bird for my bant eldrazi deck im building :3
I'll post the decklist this friday with the results from this upcoming thursday.
Tumtum4200 that 200 card deck is called battle of wits and it is really fun. It's also hard to shuffle. Merfolk is always though for me when playing devo. That spreading seas is a beating.
So I went ahead and started building my toolbox deck around Eldritch Evolution and the results were interesting. I'm not winning very much right now, but I was able to get out a turn two Phyrexian Obliterator in more than half of the games I played. Turn 1 mana dork, turn two burning-tree emissary into the eldritch evolution into ANY four drop creature imaginable. Maybe I was being a little too cute by having that 4 drop be Pherexian Obliterator, but I also had 1x Wilt-leaf liege which I thought would work well with my 4x Strangleroot Geist and 4x kitchen finks. I've also been able to add cards like magus of the moon and katakari war wage to my side board because they can be easily tutored with eldritch evolution. I may drop the idea soon, but I was hoping someone with a little better deck building abilities could take this idea and run with it..

What a cool list! I am a big fan of this. It is a cool way to take advantage of big synergies the deck has. I wish a Kessig Wolf Run would fit in there (just so good with Prime Time); but other than that I can't think of a thing I would even think to change (especially not having played it). Really cool take on devotion and the synergy between devotion and Prismatic Omen is cool indeed. Thanks for posting. I'd love to hear more as you play it.

Wow...this seems kinda brilliant. The BTE thing makes a heck of a lot of sense. Then it's just a matter of having the best 6-drops around. Of course Strangleroot and Kitchen finks work amazingly well as well given the fact that they come right back What a cool idea.
There absolutely HAS to be something here....if you don't mind I may take a little stab at it and see if I can add anything; but what you've already come up with seems pretty impressive. I can't claim to be any better at building decks than anyone else; but I certainly enjoy it. The more minds on it the merrier. I think the best decks come out of an entire community too.
Thanks for spearheading this! I'm excited to see what comes of this. I'll let you know if I think of anything.
