1. personnaly i dont run SSG. its a personnal choice, i don't think it make a huge difference in the result. i prefer consistency over explosiveness.
2. right now i'm high on Firespout... you just need to play against Merfolk or Elves to see. sometime 2 is not enough
3. i think you need at least 1 of each. you can play the deck without it and win. but those cards really help in the long run.
4. i personnaly play 3 hive mind because we have no way to tutor it. Primeval Titan is my wincon most of the time (because you can tutor it with almost everything... tolaria west, summoner's Pact, Titan itself. its like having 11 copies)

Hey all I've recently playtested a proxied deck of the primer and i went 3-22 against mostly grixis (control /delve /twin) and a green aggro deck.
My local meta consists mostly of grixis and coco and a few burn and bogles. i really want to bring this deck out as i will be the only one playing amulet bloom if in case, however i am worried that it might not yield good results .
I have trouble when i dont get bloom amulet and a bounce on my starting hand, my question is this, when do i mulligan? and usually if i dont win on t1 to t4 i am pretty donezo esp with grixis as they just wait for my key cards and counter the sht out of them (hivemind/primetime/amulet/bloom)

mulligans are HUGE with this deck.. if you dont open with a non bounce + bounce its 95% of the time a mull.. then midrange match up isnt bad pre board either, dont always need to wait to use summer bloom untill u have a pact or titan and amulet in hand either. sometimes just getting 5 mana on the board turn 2 is good enough to draw live. also if gixis is a big thing dont always try to go for a turn 2 kill (unless u absolutly have it) once u get prime time out search for toloria west, then trans for slaughter pact or pack neg. they have 2 cards that take care of your titan without them having to 2 for 1. (terminate) and sometimes its okay to let them and hold up a pact neg for twin. you can take beats from a 1/4 for days and still win with a 16/8 titan. i played a PPTQ last weekend and took 9th but felt i played the deck very well, and not 1 game i got to play with all 7 cards.. was 5 or 6 everytime and the cool thing is even at 5 i turned 2 titan a handful of times. so be super picky with your hands, and what lands you pick from titan ect. more practice and you will be fine!
@bvnnned - your sideboard is as good as it can be for jund... unless you want to try obstinate baloth, but it doesnt beat goyfs or tasigur. You need to hit 6 land through fulminators, then when you're in topdeck mode, you should draw into goodies. Not sure what to recommend, jund is a tough match but not unwinnable. I think a 2nd basic land is good vs ghost quarter, which jund seems to run these days too.
Chalice i like if you draw it naturally, but i found it subpar as a tolaria west tutor target - something i've never done, there's always better choices in the match-ups where chalice is good (basically, U control).
I've previously said that i think nature's claim is better than seal, and i still believe that, 100%. Choke / Damping Matrix i'm not sure on, I just run swan song (it doubles up as extra moon hate). Anyway, those are my only thoughts, your board looks pretty solid.
An Engineered Explosives might be worth considering. Its tutorable, and good in agro match-ups. Its also got uses vs jund, killing bob and goyf, hopefully getting a 2 for 1.
@daviusminimus,
thanks! I definitely taking out chalice this week.. and adding a wurmcoil sb. I just end up drawing it all to early to often to make all casting cost really lame, 1 shuts off visions/stirrings, 2 blooms, 3 is the only one i can truly see setting on because all i lose pre board is azusa and at 4 I feel I am dedicating to much mana to it. so i figured to take that out. damping matrix also did not preform as well as planned... yes it stopped the coco combo, but also just was useless for many other matches. Choke is just as broken as summer bloom lol.. i love that card!, as a 1 of tho is mehhh... and i run 2 basics main board already, and only run 1 cavern, which also may change but has been fine so far. but for this coming week i see chalice, damping and choke out, for wurmcoil and 2 others, maybe swan song, that seems to be pretty fitting... thanks for all the advice!
@daviusminimus, for making th deck budget you only exchanged the leylines for baloth? or it is another aspect of the deck that makes it less expensive? post your deck pls.
Hey first post, but as this deck has made me enjoy modern again since losing my first love, pod. I had to contribute to this thread.
I've been having a lot of good results with Research // Development. I can use it at the end of their turn before I summoner's pact to get a green bullet from my sideboard, like Sigarda, Host of Herons, Ruric Thar, the Unbowed, or a Reclamation Sage. The Development side isn't terrible either and has seen a bit of use, but not near as much. And then games 2 and 3 it is an easy card to sideboard out for whatever you found yourself getting in game 1.
I've also really liked using a 1 of Bow of Nylea. Every mode has been great. I added it for the ability to tuck pacts, transmuted tolaria's, and etc. But the life gain has kept me alive enough to win at least 4 games that I would have lost otherwise. And it has shot down its share of delvers and faeries. The counters have turned 0/1 plants and Azusa into a credible threat.
A really dumb idea I'd like to try would be Dismiss into Dream in the sideboard... and then shoot things down with bow counters and Slayers' Stronghold but that is really just for fun.
Made it to the finals of a small 16 man at my LGS yesterday... 1 lost in the prelims to infect and lost again in the finals vs infect... Games where close but they are just faster than is (will post decklist later but no melira side). Not sure what to do here, aside from a small punt on my part, I couldn't do much more...
I brought a lot of blue hate sideboard and it paid off. Mistcutter hydras where INSANE, played against 2 twins deck that just couldnt deal with this guy. Had to spend bolt, snap, bolt on it once and I was mord than ok with it!
As for maindeck, I hated to sideboard my hive minds as they won me more game than the titans but had too.... I'm a bit torn on this issue, I play 3 maindeck and always keep 1 in as it just wins on the spot against pretty much everything.
Has anyone tried running Garruk Wildspeaker? His +1 is overpowered. Even if you spend 2 bouncelands to cast it, you can just untap them right away.
the only issue with this is you cant pact for him, i run 4 titans, 1 azusa, 1 dragonlord main, which all of these i can go find when i need to. garruk really gives us no advantage at all.. maybe the -2 could come in handy just to block stuff if we are going more late game, but the +1 is like not even casting him at all? idk i guess i would have to try it out, but would be a issue on what to take out lol.
I disagree with your thoughts on Ruric Thar, the Unbowed as well as some of your side board choices. You have access to common SB answers by way of green creatures with Summoner's Pact and Tolaria West (grabbing a Summoner's Pact). You only have to run one of these creatures to offset many a strategy.
Ruric Thar shines with Dragonlord Dromoka on board too btw, there aren't many match-ups that they don't both apply to. This deck's ability to make 6 mana fast is a real advantage if you're trying to ramp out a reliable, game-stopping SB creature. I often side in a creature like Hornet Queen and have her out as soon as I can use Summoner's Pact or Tolaria West if I go straight for said side board piece. Melira, Sylvok Outcast is a must if you ever run into Infect. Dragonlord Dromoka eats burn, slows Twin down a bit, and against counter-heavy MUs. Hornet Queen hits W/b Souls, Affinity, Merfolk, and whatever creature-heavy or flying-intensive MUs pretty hard. Sigarda, Host of Herons specifically stops targeted removal and Liliana of the Veil.
I sort of want to make room for Engineered Explosives, but I also want WotC to print more green zingers I can tutor up..
Ixrixis - I'd split EE and pyroclasm if i were you, just because casting an EE for 2 then popping it on turn 3 is pretty slow, and requires you to have untapped lands in the opener. I'd recommend maybe 2 pyro + 1 EE. I think Swan Song has risks (the 2/2 bird is sometimes relevant) and I've always found bojuka bog under-whelming. Perhaps those could turn into sweepers rather htan loosing your leylines!?!
I don't know about you, but I run into many Tarmogoyfs and many Tasigur, the Golden Fangs, so I need Bojuka Bog just in case I need to live for another turn (which is what it usually boils down to).
In reference to the sweeps, I know they're helpful, but without a reliable way to get them aside from hoping to dig/draw into one, I'd rather try my luck with Engineered Explosives (which I still need to top deck to get). It's handy against W/b tokens though, which is a deck that gives me many troubles. Pyroclasm used to be where Leyline of Sanctity is now, but it never performed how I needed it to.
But I highly question whether players who play Dromoka in their decks do really understand what their deck is about.
That's funny, I say the same exact thing about people who don't play Dragonlord Dromoka, that they don't know how the deck works or how to properly sideboard against opponents. What a coincidence!
Dragonlord Dromoka is a lifesaver for a non-interactive deck like this one. She has a fat booty that survives SO MANY threats that it is hilarious seeing people dump their hands to answer her, balances your game with lifelink, and dodges responses in order to help your titans dodge responses (so you can win). She's also tutorable and costs 6 mana (not 7), allowing her to be cast quickly and efficiently. Aside from 'She's a 6 cmc bomb that does bomb things' (which is hardly a complaint so much as an astute observation), what is your argument against using her in the sb?
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them

I'm going to have to try this out, In a lot of games I find myself running out of titans to pact for, especially in slow games vs heavy removal decks.

I think the 4 maindeck remands' are for playing "tempo" against blood moons.
I have a relatively stock list deck (except I run Ancient Stirrings, Intervention Pact, and an extra Selesnya Sanctuary), but here's my SB:
3 Swan Song
1 Ruric Thar, the Unbowed
1 Melira, Sylvok Outcast
1 Dragonlord Dromoka
1 Hornet Queen
1 Sigarda, Host of Herons
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Ghost Quarter
3 Leyline of Sanctity
All I need to know is what they're playing

Swan Song is a silver bullet, just like Chalice of the Void. It hits discard, counters, and Blood Moon. Blood Moon is also the reason I'd run Engineered Explosives (or even Oblivion Stone), because it's colorless. Most decks that SB for Titan Bloom side in artifact hate for Amulet of Vigor, so artifact SB options are sort of asking for targeted removal.
I sort of think Thoughtseize may be a key SB card for combating combos, but I'm still on the fence about it.
That's funny, I say the same exact thing about people who don't play Dragonlord Dromoka, that they don't know how the deck works or how to properly sideboard against opponents. What a coincidence!
