Just wondering
I'm considering building hollow one and I'm wondering why we dont play cathartic reunion? seems like it would be good to discard two grave synergy cards and draw into a hollow one etc.
what are peoples thoughts on 2-3 sb Seasoned Pyromancer vs control? 4 power, 3 mana, loot 2 (2 power and draw 2) it look like a strong possibility in the BTE and vengevine builds
also what are peoples thoughts on Fists of Flame? as turn 2 hollow one, angler or adept, turn three cast this then inquiry, and your swinging with a 9/x trample.
Don’t like 3 drops in this deck, full stop. I like everything in this deck being castable on a 2 land keep.
And I’m more than a little worried that Force of Despair completely and utterly destroys this deck. We can get our ‘perfect draw’ (mountain wraith looting pitch vengevines cast hollow ones) ... and our opponent gets a zero-mana wrath immediately after that?
getting the perfect hand isnt to common, turn twos or a turn three are far more common. and thats means we can have mana for answers. ive found that turn 1 is more offen than not a setting up turn, getting down a neonate or a adept or just looting for a better starting hand. are far more common that all in turn 1 double hollow one and vengevine.
i really think that blue is going to become more vital to the deck over time. the more ive played in the curret meta the more i find my self using izzet charm as a counter spell first and looting spell second. it may end up being we need mb Stubborn Denial to really make the non-random version of this deck shine and move to a more tempo style of play rather than all in combo
the card im really hoping to see reprinted is basking rootwalla, as this would really help the consitatcy of late game vengevines as well as adding some sudo card advantage that doesn't require gy interaction.
I tried out both Seasoned Pyromancer and Skelemental+Unearth package.
Pyromancer is strong and give you extra creature in late game, but the most of time it was a too slow turn 3
Otherwise, Skelemental is pretty strong, good anytime and in synergy with the deck (a turn 3 unearth into skelemental + 2x phoenix from gv is awesome)
by T3 I am trying to get my H1 out or digging deeper into my deck, Pyro at T3 seems bad as there are better things to do that turn, T4-5+ is where I would look to play him to refill and to drop GY cards recursion. Skelator is good any time as it provides value in the opponents hands disruption as well as damage.
What about Cabal Therapist?
It can sacrifice itself, seems strong against combo/control deck and could be an interesting 0 mana discard outlet
I feel the card is limited by it's own restrictions. Not as good as thought-seize or other 1 drop discard spells. Sacing a creature you want to be attacking with is a little off strategy for the deck. The once per turn before combat is the part I really do not like. If you could use it multiple times a turn it would be broken.
If you plan on using it on yourself then it is a negitive card gain (unless you can pitch multiple GY recurrsion creatures into you yard and get out a H1 for free). Which sounds great but is a bit like Christmas dreams.
Has anyone started brewing without Faithless Looting yet? I am at a loss of what to replace this with as I ran it as a 4 of....I too am considering jumping ship to another modern deck as it does not seem as fun to play without the crazy draws this car afforded us.
I made similar changes +3 skelementals, +2 unearth, - 1 phoenix. I have been wondering if ramping with the deck might be better/easier now?
I made these changes and did not do so well. The decks characteristics have changed. Consistency is down and cheating in Hollow one no longer seems to be the main plan I think.
I did horrible against Burn, and Humans, but my sideboard was not 100% where it should have been.
I have been thinking about the dinosaur that is a 7/6 and forces you to discard each turn as a possible inclusion as it also reanimates with Unearth as well....just something I was considering. I really don't want to give up the deck, but some major brainstorming will be needed to compete with the new metas.
I tried the deck with 4 skelemental 2 unearth and 2 faerie macabre and think the looting ban is not a huge problem. Is a huge Card but only activates T1 hollow one with a street wraith ... Now with the faerie we do the same. The unearths and skelemental packs make deck more aggressive with more big threats ,and we can carry a full set of goblin lore and burning Inquiry, without be afraid of discard a big creature.
I tried a grixis version with izzet amulet and prizeds amalgam, but it's like a bad dredge... more midrange, it's not for this deck IMO.

This list recently 5-0.
It uses Seasoned Pyromancer and Lightning Skelemental.
Any thoughts?

Is this the real end of this deck?
Reality is but a perception of your being --

Oooh Dicey:

Ive decided to try -1 Phoenix and add 3 skelementals and 2 unearths to replace the 4 looting....
Anyone else try anything?
