I would love to have some more Brutalities, but those are expensive, so I'm looking to trade into those. The Fiery Temper in the main will become a Brutality, and I'd cut two Blood Moons in the side for two more Brutalities. Any other changes you guys would make to the list?
I'm wondering what are some of the cards we can cut when sideboarding? My history in MTG has been all UWx, so I have no idea how to sideboard with this type of deck. I'm cutting 4 Bloodghast versus Humans, Bolts versus Tron, and Fiery Temper in almost every matchup. I'm looking to replace Temper with another card in the main, because we're looking to use all of our mana every turn. Casting Temper, even with madness, means one less Inquiry or Looting we use to cast free Hollow Ones and pump up our Flaneblade Adepts. Any suggestions?
Nice, that'll be a good watch! Also, I'm cutting down to 2 Fiery Tempers instead of 3 so that I can try out a 1-of Grafted Wargear. It was suggested by a Redditor, as it makes everything in your deck Ferocious, and is brutal if you can continually recur Bloodghasts and the like. Heck, it even puts Phoenixes and Adept out of Bolt range!
Hey there! I am the redditor that plays the 1 of Grafted Wargear. The card is crazy powerful with our recurring threats and at worse makes hollow one a 7/6 haha
Here is my current build: https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/rb-g-hollow-one/
I'd love any constructive criticism and any questions!!!
-1 Burning Inquiry and a full 4 of Goblin Lore. I have been testing the other way around. Is it the primary card disadvantage of Inquiry that tilted you? Have you noticed that the extra mana for Lore has been available? Do you not find the disruption to the opponent with B.I. to be a sufficient mediator? I agree that, alongside a 4-of on faithless looting, (11) Roulette spins on the wheel seems about right.
Just (3) Delve fatties and that's with a Tasigur/2Fish. Huh. Also, I think (3) is the right number. Any thoughts that the Ladyboy, the hidden wang might be better swapped to Tombstalker? Especially since you're delving that much less often?
Dismember in the main is also a new inclusion. I'm curious on why that isn't a Lightning Axe. I would feel that much less bad about bolting the bird when I can ditch a bloodghast or flaming chicken to the bin. Indeed, you're smart to identify the need to knock down 5-toughness creatures - are you firm on your dismember?
Squee, Goblin Nabob........is that your 1-of/fun-of? Does he help the engine that much? Constant blocking while you set to the air for wargeared rooster attack?
As for lands, sure - I like the design.
SIDEBOARD Darkness is for Infect, I guess and mirror and lots of matchups - cool. Pithing Needle? I've seen it around, but wonder if it's just too slow? Wouldn't we rather be enhancing our rush attack? Lastly, Liliana, the Last Hope. Undoubtedly a badass lady, but when do you bring her in? In general for sideboarding, do you ever take out any of the creatures or is it utility spells out only?? I definitely note that there are a lot of singletons which leads me to believe you don't 'package' in/out your adjustments for game 2.
Thanks in advance and again - cool deck!
Oh, and a card that I've been testing out lately is lost legacy. Similar to Blood Moon, it can be an 'i win' play. A lot of combo decks will fold to it, and it's also a good solution to stop cards that will come in against from sideboards like ensnaring bridge.
1. Burning Inquiry.
Burning is like, a weird dark ritual for hollow one or a pump 3 for Adept. Sometimes it doesn't workout. Goblin lore does the same thing but at the least it replaces itself. With Dredge being a strong MU against Hollow one, i don't like the idea of HAVING to cast it an enable them even more. The disruption portion has been fine.
2. Tombstalker. I've considered it, but with only a single swamp, I'll never be able to cast him if I need resort to blood moon.
3. Dismember. This deck can end up being hellbent quickly. I don't like the idea of having to rely on having another card to discard or play it for... what, 6 mana? Lol no thanks. Also can be situationally better. Reduce the size of a 5/6 goyf into a 0/1 then block. Thus making the trade a positive. (This has mattered often)
Squee: I'll admit, Squee is more of a "in theory this card is amazing" piece. He has been an annoying blocker against TKS and is somewhat mentally tilting for an opponent when I get it back and faithless looting or goblin lore gives me incremental card value. He could certainly be something else. He was a gurmag at one point.
Darkness: Any time I've cast Darkness, I've either won the game or made the game a draw. Attacking in and making them think i made a miscalculation or "played to my outs." Since it sees no play anywhere and most newer players don't know it exists. Ever since i lost to Bushwacker zoo, this made it's way in.
Needle: This was a response to JTMS and the uprise of Tron that he caused. Tron forces you to have some of your fastest hands or you are dead. Needle hits o-stone, karn, ect. Also my SB made me realize i have very little to interact with ad nauseum. So at the very least i can name Lightning storm and save bolts for their face or lab man if they go that route.
The Last Hope: Liliana - i bring her in against affinity, burn, merfolk, tokens fear her, humans, D&T, infect, druid combo, ect.
I tried to make my deck has versatile as possible. Big Game Hunter has never been drawn in time and lavaman was awkward when I'm also wanting to delve. Just seemed slightly counter intuitive to use a creature that relies on fuel from the yard when opponents are gonna be bringing GY hate in anyway.
I side out my Gurmags if I'm siding in Lavaman. Great tip on the Darkness, though! Elves is my eternal nemesis, so I'll be looking to fit one of those in to break them on the crack-back, hahaha.
I agree. Copter doesn't provide enough power or synergy in the deck to be valid. It kinda does "a little bit of everything" but not enough of 1 thing in particular.
I don't know if it's been tested, but what about a Grixis build?
Maybe beating around the bush to trigger Vengvine isn't the best way to go about it.. But rather focus on the current B/R meta build, and splash in blue for Stubborn Denial and Izzet Charm? Maybe even a card like Staticaster? I feel for the Charm and Denial though. Charm is versatile (especially against GY hate maybe?)

What I love about the deck is that it feels decidedly "old school," and can have explosive first turns that just win the game for you... I remember back in the old days, when Swamp, Dark Ritual, Hypnotic Specter on the first turn would just WIN games by itself... Burning Inquiry into 2 Hollow Ones, with a graveyard full of Bloodghasts feels pretty solid and fun, and old-school explosive.
I like old-school explosive.

Grafted Wargear - Inspired decision Coco_Wanderer. I used to use that in my The Gate deck of Modern. And, later had some success with a zombie deck. Both capitalize on the narrow function of winning through attack. I'll definitely try one in my swing slots.
