Five-color Humans deck took 3rd/4th place in the Modern MCQ at MagicFest Strasbourg yesterday. I really like the inclusion of 2 x Tajic, Legion's Edge. Here is the list
Here is a link to the earlier referenced video facing the Humans deck. Additionally, here is a link to a recent video in which I run Tajic (and wins me the game after a flipped Thing in the Ice).
Also, I am typically streaming my Humans matches on Twitch starting about 9PM Eastern. If you ever have the opportunity - please say hello and provide any feedback.
I will also note that I am seeing an uptick in B/G and Jund decks on Magic Online after this weekend - I will be updating my list this evening and streaming with the updated list.
So I've been considering adding
2 spellskite to the sideboard.
Am I crazy? It seems great blocks TiTi, eats removal, eats burn.
I'd say you're crazy, but that's me. "Blocks TiTi" seems a stretch. Any creature in the deck serves this purpose when titi is attacking and nothing we have will live through it. The whole deck dies to removal, too, and we don't have things that we need to protect like decks that typically run spellskite. As for burn - run more auriok champions and knights of autumn. I havent found burn to be too tough unless they get the 8 searing effect draw.
The two best decks for Spellskite to come in against IMO are Bogles and Infect, and I don't think these matchups are that bad or are popular enough to warrant playing two in the sb. If there are 4 Bogles players at your lgs, then I may consider it, but otherwise for burn and removal I think it's not good enough.
Finished 6:1 in a 85 Player tournament and made the 3rd place this sunday!
Loss was against Storm... Game one I had no disruption and game two I had to mull down to 5 and got stuck on two lands.
Deck felt super good and I went back to Militia Bugler as my flexslot.
Never thought Thalia, Guardian of Thraben will be that good in modern. Totally sold on the 4 copies!
I thought a lot about Tajic, Legion's Edge beeing better vs red removal decks but I think Bugler is much better in rebuilding your board after a sweeper and is better in other matchups then Tajic. My biggest concern was burn (wich was in fact the most played archetype) and Tajic feels like a 3-mana bolt in this matchup. He get's blocked by everything while Bugler can attack and blocks very well.
Another card I didn't like was Deputy of Detention. Dylan Hand seems to like this card pretty much but for now I'm not convinced. Our opponenten tends to board in more removal so the Deputy is going to die pretty likely.

Spellskite is a Horror and thus will not bounce when Thing in the Ice flips. Thing doesn't have trample, so Skite buys you time.
Fair enough, still seems pretty narrow. 9/10 when thing flips that's basically the game anyway. I'm sure there's a non zero amount of times when being able to chump that one time will matter but the same could be done by holding up an aether vial to replay whatever gets bounced and block.

anyway, just my 0.02.
The ability to endure the big splash doesn't seem to be a good enough reason for me to play it either, but if one sees Jund, Grixis and Burn frequently, then a good place to stick all of those Lightning Bolts may come in handy. Taking one for the team from a flipped Thing is a small bonus but in a given store a fellow might see Thing every time out.
But yeah, it's fairly narrow and doesn't contribute to Plan A; it's purely defensive.
How's the deck's Amulet Titan matchup these days? Big mana decks (mainly Amulet and Tron), Burn, and Phoenix (both Mono-Red and UR) have been infesting my LGS lately, been wanting to try something different.

Current Modern Decks BG Elves // "He's back. And he brought his friends. And their friends." BG The Rock // "Dwayne Johnson approved." RU Izzet Phoenix // "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." UGW Bant Spirits // "Super Ghost Bros." BUG Sultai Wildnerness Teachings // "How many turns did I just take again?" C Colorless Eldrazi // "Smash you."
Damping Sphere becomes a good card for you then, you can run 2 copies in your SB. Lavinia could be a suggestion, but those decks run sweepers post-SB, which is a problem. Sphere still dies to Explosives and O-Stone.

Yep, Sphere has been a mainstay in most of my sideboards. I'm mainly wondering how the Humans vs Amulet matchup is in general, pre-board and post-board. Is it good? 50-50? Bad? Curious. Also on a random note, do people still run Anafenza, the Foremost?

I think Meddling Mage does the job, and Phantasmal Image can trade, FreeB can take a Pact or a Scapeshift. They're more flexible cards than Path effects. Once a Primetime is on the board it's too late for a Fiend Hunter to save the day, because the Titan either attacks right away or searches for mountains and decimate your board.

Forgive me if this has been covered in the 85 pages of this post, but I am seeing lists that reduce the number of Ancient Ziggurats, presumably for sideboard options. I ran into a situation where I had to mulligan my game 3 hand with a Ziggurat, Aether Vial, and all 2-3 drops. I then went through 2 no-landers (I almost kept at 5 because I had Hierarchs and whatnot) but ended up going down to four. I still almost won against TitanShift but couldn't quite get there. Any other land in my opening 7 and I feel like I beat him, so I want to trim 1-2 Ziggurats simply so I can more reliably cast that Aether Vial on turn 1.
My first thought was to replace a Ziggurat with another Seachrome Coast, but think a Razorverge Thicket would be better if the goal is to be able to cast the 1 drops more consistently (Noble Hierarch).
So, I guess my question is this: Should I simply just chalk this up to variance and bad luck on the mulls, or is this a recurring issue with this deck? If it is an issue, how do you all deal with it? Or do the solutions weaken the deck enough that we just have to live with it?

This was written by one of the best Humans players on the SCG Tour and just came out yesterday.
