I am Cavernless for a year. Sold it and never ever in tourneys felt I needed it. Even against chalice, I have not felt the need since I usually go down in number of 1 drops and add rec sage. I think the need for more color is better than caverns, especially gb and with spell sideboards.
Even in a control heavy meta in Japan? I feel cavern is a lot better there because of more blue decks. Have you also ever played a single boseiju in the SB for control match ups to resolve successful Cocos and LTS.
How I feel about come into play tapped lands is that elvish rejuvenator might be the sole elf card that allows you to run mediocre cards like hall of the bandit lord, boseiju, etc. Into semi playable as it untaps during your next turn and allows you to play your untapped land drop.
Mardhu pyromancer is fine, you just need to topdeck Coco or LTS and they will run out of 1-4-1s against the deck, you can also just dump your hand faster than their discard spells in the midgame and they gained no value from their spells.
Hello! Thought I would just share my opinion on Elvish Clancaller so far. I was pretty excited about this card when it was spoiled. However, my testing with this card has been kinda mediocre. To give context, I currently run Chord/Shaman build with a light white splash for creatures in the sideboard and having Elvish Clancaller in the Elvish Visionary spot. Decided to test in that slot for the main reason that I won't cut Ezuri, Archdruid, or SOP while Dwynen's Elite has more synergy with Shaman of the Pack. It has its moments where it was nice but I actual didn't feel my specific build needed more lord effects. Vanilla Lord effects(doesn't provide anything else). I didn't feel like I wanted a Visionary at the times I had Clancaller, I just feel Visionary would have been more impactful. My thoughts are, Elvish Clancaller might be better suited in the Dwynen's Elite slot meaning a build not playing four Shaman of the Pack.
My opinion here might be completely wrong or not super helpful since I did my testing with a Shaman build playing Chord instead of Lead the Stampede.
Dwynen's elite is too good not to run. Cutting elites is a bad call if it's trying to slot in a mediocre lord. Going wide is a better plan than pumping your dudes as well as heritage combos with nettle sentinels. It's prob not good in a combo oriented elfball shell.
Might be going towards an aggressive elfball that doesn't rely on infinite combo or shaman, but that just makes a under average elf aggro deck.
Cutting Elite for Clancaller is like cutting bolts for snapcasters.
Elite is what is gonna make extra lords so good. If you finish turn 2 with a couple dorks and elite which is par for the course, and you follow up with either archdruid or clancaller you're swinging in for 9 on turn 3, and probably set to win undisrupted on turn 4. Clancaller will probably eat something, but you're not doing nothing either.

I've been playing GW and GB elves for a while and just looking to mix things up with a G/W/colorless build - hoping to get some criticisms and suggestions from the forum here. I feel like Eldrazi Displacer could be useful mid to late game keeping GW combo pieces on the board, helping it grind a little better. It also keeps opponents creatures at bay, and can be hit off CoCo or played T2 with a dork. Could also run Thought-Knot Seer main or SB, along with Warping Wail in SB.
I'd probably swing with the following decklist - viability and criticisms would be greatly appreciated.
If you want to test Clancaller you have to Play 4 copies, no less.
You want to Take Advantage of the ability as much aus possible.
I also highly recommend 4 Elite.
I guess with this list you will find yourself in situations where you have to process a lot of decision making.
Chord/company/clancaller are all Instant interactions.
The right Timing might bei Key here.
Just a few words from my side.
Wish you the best luck!

Hey, i've been away from elves for a while but am planning to let my friend borrow it for an upcoming tournament next weekend.
I was wondering if anyone has tried Steel Leaf Champion? It seems incredibly good as a 1-2 of given the amount of low power creatures in the format (ie pyromancer and tokens/a lot of the humans/etc..)
Was thinking of running that in the filler place that usually goes to Elvish Visionaries and whatnot

Going to a tournament here shortly and really need to perfect the deck. I am happy with the Mainboard and have great success with it, it is my sideboard i need some extra eyes on. Please take a look at the deck (i've included Main and Side) and provide any help, advice or feedback for me.
I haven't done a lot with my sideboard and it is the one piece keeping me from taking it my last two tournaments. My play testing group has convinced me it should be my deck of choice this time as i am very proficient with it. Please help me make the SB strong. As it is an 8 round tourny + top 8 I do expect to see Humans, Tron (either regular or Eldrazi), Jeskai Control, and most likely will see some burn as well.
It looks like its trying very hard to be merfolk. I don't feel comfortable letting Ezuri go, it wins so many games. The power level of Imperious Perfect is questionable to me. Both are vulnerable to removal and can potentially be taken out without value, although Ezuri's ability to grow himself to 5/5 to survive a bolt the turn he came down has mattered more than once. 4 maindeck champions with no equivalent of Spreading Seas is weird too. In the absence of Forests on the opposing side he's a vanilla lord for 3 cmc, which is not fantastic and isn't a good rate for modern.

It's just preference, but after playing both I find Westvale Abbey to be more useful than Nykthos. I think 3 kitchen finks is a little much, I would replace one or two with Damping Sphere for Tron and Storm. I also prefer to run 4 blooming marsh instead of extra fetch lands, the life loss from fetches is relevant against burn, hollow one, and other decks that race you. Lastly, I always try to squeeze in an elvish champion in SB for going against green decks

I can see Abbey for sure, i've just always defaulted to Nykthos as i have had many games where my Archdruid is constantly killed and Nykthos just gives me that extra mana still. Might give Abbey a whirl though before the tournament and see which i prefer.
I just double checked my paper list and it had Elvish Champion in the SB instead of the 3rd Finks so my bad there.
As for Blooming Marsh, are you not worried about it coming in tapped? i have found in my games it's not uncommon for me to have 4 or more lands (if they path me) making the marshes come tapped. I agree the life loss on fetches sucks (i actually never used to play them).
Finks is in my SB for burn and Jeskai, do we need that life gain or can we just outrace these decks?
Also, what is everyone thoughts of Fecundity to help combat all the boardwipes going around? I run the Leads to help with the boardwipe decks but this also fills my hand good too.. thoughts?
I am so indecisive haha. Last minute decision i will be bringing Abzan Elves instead of just GB, been testing alot online and i do miss the SB options available when we add white. List below, thoughts, opinions etc.
I am running a pretty standard GB list.. there are like 2 flex spots that go to elvish visionary most of the time and i would replace them..
Welp it wouldnt be absolutely wrong but it would break on of my rules of thumb - I generally try not to substitute something of higher cmc for something of lower cmc. You are basically "creeping" your curve upwards. In addition to archdruid and ezuri and lead, thats a lot of 3 cmc spells and fewer 2 cmc spells now to bridge that gap. Although we frequently jump from 1 mana to 3 on turn 2, its still something to think about. I would think Clancaller would be a better sub for visionary without rocking the boat as much.
