Heya, Grayson. I hope I'm not stepping on toes here, but looking at the most recent Humans lists that have Top 8'd, I may have some insight from playing against similar strategies in legacy. Please forgive me if these have been mentioned previously in a 213-page thread. At the end of the day, Humans is really just a Death and Taxes build based off absurdly efficient critters, just not as skewed towards the taxes angle for the most part.
Generally speaking, these modern-legal cards can help stem and ultimately grind any aggressive deck to a halt when our deck lives up to its potential (Vialing in efficient dudes and disrupting & undoing their main phases). I recommend you quickly ascertain who is the beatdown during this matchup so you don't try to outrace Usain Bolt with your shoes untied. Judging by their builds, even on equal footing, they are going to out-efficient-creature you unless you slow down and stop them. In a field awash with humans and other swarmy decks (even D&T), I've found these to be viable as mainboard and sideboard options. You'll notice it's a mix of the taxing elements of D&T and proactive, efficient (and cheap) removal:
Since the vast majority of humans lists only run 1-3 basics, Path to Exile and Settle the Wreckage will be more of an upside than a downside, most of the time. Continuing in that vein, their manabases are hella-vulnerable to our LD packages. I see a lot of D&T lists running between 4-8 maindecked LD, so if you're mono white I'd consider upping that count to kill their strategy in the crib. Oblivion Ring, and to a lesser extent, Fragmentize, can be mainboarded to nuke their Vials on top of our LD, effectively locking them out of the game entirely, though O-ring has more utility, especially combined with Wisp shenanigans.
Looking at most D&T lists in modern they are very creature-heavy to account for the lost of Stoneforge Mystic and absurd equipments, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for flex spots. I'd say the magic minimum number of critters is 24, leaving a total of 5-6 flex spots, based on your expected metagame. If you face a preponderance of specific archetypes, I wouldn't shy away from mainboarding hate, as most of the above selections can be useful in matchups outside of their intended targets.
Thank you for the right up. I haven’t gone against any 5 color humans decks at all. Closest thing to it that I’ve gone against is my fiend bant humans deck with knight/retreat combo and I just get wrecked by it. I know flyers are importantly in that match Up but I feel that it still hard when creatures just outmuscled mine and I’m stuck on defense.

Sure thing, duder! Fliers are often going to be your trump card in a lot of matchups since they aren't as valued / used in the majority of lists. In matchups where you're feeling the pressure of an aggro archetype more frisky and aggressive than your own - you need to be the control deck in that matchup. If you know going in - great, if they are outracing you by the 3rd turn, consider that your cue.
Maindecking more than the stock 4 Path to Exile as cheap and efficient spot removal can help sneak around aggressive lists, with the Ghostly Prison in the board to stem the tide. Oust, Sunlance, and even Condemn can help you get ahold of the first few key turns and put you in a position to drop Prison for a soft lock while your higher CMC start to swarm in off Vial.
Hi guys, I play 2x stonecloacker in the main and are very good. The flash is quite relevant. Do not underestimate the ability to exile from the graveyard for snapcasters or lingering souls and put the card in the exile ( wasteland strangle). At the moment I play 2 and it is giving me good results.Save the creatures for the removal and help to activate ETB.
I plan to test Cloaker' in the main after I get a few tourneys under my belt with my stock W/b list. They were phased out of Legacy D&T after combat damage on the stack shenanigans were scrubbed, but they do appear especially well placed in this current meta. What's your list look like?
Question: What does everyone think about Grand Abolisher as a 2, maybe even 4, of? This card seems relatively powerful against Jace/Jeskai/Grixis/Control decks. With the apparent uptick in instant speed removal this card could be a major nuisance for a LOT of decks.
Just think about it: Most players save that instant speed removal or draw for your end of turn (If you're on the play turn 2) or even on their turn 2.
For example, Jund: Your T1: You play Plains and either Vial/Inspector/Pass. Their T1: They play fetch (holding Bolt/Push and Goyf) and pass. Your T2: Plains (not that unheard of with most Mono W D&T playing 8-9 Plains) Grand Abolisher. Now they have to fetch and wait, then T2 play the Bolt/Push and can't play the Goyf or play the Goyf and leave the Abolisher creating more weird turns for them later on. If you can vial him out while your opponent is tapped out, even better.
I just feel like this card could do a pretty good job of pseudo time walking the opponent early on, and if they don't have an immediate answer the turn after he comes down, we can get significantly ahead. Playing instant speed cards during your main phase just feels bad.
I like the idea of both Grand Abolisher and Stonecloaker. I've been playing a phyrexian revoker in the Mb and 1 sb. It's been pretty underwhelming tbh so I'll try cutting it from the mb and add a stonecloaker.
Do you have a list including Grand Abolisher? I'm not sure what I would cut to add it. I'm running 2 mirran crusader and a Brimaz mb that I could cut but those cards have been so good for me.

You may have more wiggle room than you realize. Are there any 4-ofs in your list that clog your hand more than you'd like? Any (other) 1-ofs that aren't pulling their weight in the majority of Game 1s? If we look at the core cards for mono W we end up with something like:
4 Aether Vial
4 Path to Exile
3- 4 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
3- 4 Leonin Arbiter
4 Flickerwisp
17 - 20 Other cards
22-23 Land
Those 17-20 other cards can and do vary wildly from each each seasonal shift in the meta (bannings/unbannings/new sets/new archetypes). Depending on who you talk to, Death & Taxes arguably has between 4-7 "flex" spots, where you can tailor your list to the meta you're experiencing or expecting. While there is great freedom here, not every potential D&T selection will be optimal alongside each other.
We know Mana Tithe has been run in the past mainbaord as a 1 or 2-of, but sees a lot less love now. Stonecloaker was a staple of legacy D&T, but is only recently getting attention in Modern, whereas Jötun Grunt and Samurai of the Pale Curtain are dismissed or unknown. I would strongly suggest you check out the last 6 months of top 8 D&T lists (annoyingly labeled "Hatebear" instead of its true name) at the MtgTop8 website and record the commonalities and anomalies. Then, if you're feeling spicy, look at the Legacy D&T primer Finn & co. put together years ago. You may find quite a few modern-legal answers to some of our modern problems. Don't be afraid to innovate in these spots and don't be a slave to tradition, D&T is powerful because of its inevitability and selection of tools at its disposal, and all that's without considering the UBRG splashes we see popping up within just the last 90 days.

I totally agree with everything you said. What I love about this deck is its best characteristcs. It is customizable, adaptive, fun, interactive, tricky and strong. Many cards are playable in this deck.
As for Stonecloaker, It can be replaced with the cards you mentioned. What we need to have in mind is what we're replacing in the deck. I replaced my beloved Resto's for a bunch of 3 drops (what can be backfire in grindy matchups eventually, but Thraben Inspector, Copter and Displacer need to do this job).
I've been revisiting Death and Taxes in modern after being a little burned out on playing Dredge. Love playing a more interactive gameplan again. Working through some leagues online the rust is slowly coming of. I've been getting mostly 3-2 results with the bulk of my loses coming to Jace (control) decks. Is there any specific tech I can have for these matchups? Main or out of the board.
They either answer my early plays efficiently and then slam a Jace to seal the deal. Or we trade resources until there's a turn where we are both topdecking. My topdecks are less impactfull whereas if they ever have a Jace live longer then a turn that's usually game. It just feels like it's relatively easy for them to get Jace on an empty board.
Below is my list. The copters are good vs Jace and I have gone back to running mutvault to have even more value from lands but also to be able to punish Jace -1 ability. Appreciate any help on improving the Jace matchup but any general comments are also welcomed. (I'm well aware that my list is far from optimal).

I don't think Hero's Demise will work on JTMS, right? You can only kill a legendary creature with it, not a permanent. I guess you're thinking of Hero's Downfall.

When I think that I am facing down a Jace.dec I keep a Flickerwisp in hand until I can Vial it in or shenanigan it in another way during my opponent's turn to blink Jace (have it return in their end step) and then kill him on my turn since he will be back on 3 loyalty.
Against Jace decks I bring in two Spirit of the Labyrinth (really fun to Vial in in response to a brainstorm) and two Phyrexian Revoker. If Jace decks start to run rampant I might consider going the legacy route and add a Mangara of Corondor to the main board.
The deck worked pretty well winning Junk, 5C aggro (I still don't know what is black in the deck), GW Company, UW Jace Miracles, UW Jace (Online game, with no miracles, I only saw colonnades and secure the wastes as other wincons), Traverse DS and Traditional BBE Jund.
I was impressed with the "almost forgotten" Spellskite. All the Declaration in Stones saved my life a billion times, just like also did.
How are your matches against BBE Jund andJace.dec decks? I was pretty well these days against them. Each of them beat me once this week. I'd like to know if you guys are having a lot of trouble, I was pretty lucky or the deck is really a beast against the new meta
Curious Note: Funny enough, I was playing with LSV's Taking Turns(another jace.dec) in xmage today when I faced a monowhite death and taxes. I couldn't even deal with thalia to play magic. There was no Gigadrowse, Time walk or Exhaustion to help put jace in play.

Hi i'm new in these Archetype, after two year of storm i will take a break with it. After watching hours of video and blog i have decided to build a ( )eldrazi & taxes and pheraps later the mono white e&t version.
After i have looked the last list of mtgoldfish and tappedout and here I have built these list https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/958574#online but i have really big problem with the sideboard
I'm going to play it on mtgo with a budget of 220 tix, anyone can help me
A little curiosity is there any difference between papermeta and mtgo meta ?
Thanks very much in advance,

You could try, but your opponent could then cast the Lightning Bolt in response to the BFT's ability on the stack, which would resolve after the bolt already hit its target.

I don't think this is answer is correct, but I'm not 100% sure.
The problem is the wording on burrenton forge-tender, which is not that common. From the rules:
419.8a Some effects apply to damage from a source—for example, “The next time a red source of your choice would deal damage to you this turn, prevent that damage.” If an effect requires a player to choose a source, he or she may choose a permanent; a spell on the stack (including an artifact, creature, enchantment, or planeswalker spell); any card or permanent referred to by an object on the stack; or a creature that assigned combat damage on the stack, even if the creature is no longer in play or is no longer a creature. The source is chosen when the effect is created. If the player chooses a permanent, the effect will apply to the next damage from that permanent, regardless of whether it’s from one of that permanent’s abilities or combat damage dealt by it. If the player chooses an artifact, creature, enchantment, or planeswalker spell, the effect will apply to any damage from that spell and from the permanent that it becomes when it resolves.
My view on interpreting this is the following: your opponent casts snapcaster. You let it resolve. Your opponent targets lightning bolt with snapcaster's ability. Now, before the ability resolves, it appears that there is an object on the stack (snapcaster's ability) targeting a particular card (lightning bolt). From my understanding, you can sac forge-tender in response at this moment choosing lightning bolt as a source, and your opponent can't cast it in response since snap's ability hasn't resolved yet. So... yes, I think you can do that.
Just remember that your forge-tender would obviously not trade with snap in combat, since you sacrificed it before it got blocked, and your opponent could still cast lightning bolts from their hand in response to forge-tender's ability.
Would you like to read Commander stories? Check my latest stories, coming from Lorwyn and Innistrad: Ghoulcaller Gisa and Doran, The Siege Tower! If you like my writing, ask me to write something for your commander as well!

I think this is the best explanation for this interaction. CMIIW pls

Read my other stories as well (some ongoing):
Reaper King (a horror story), Kaalia of the Vast (an origin story), Sequels for Innistrad (Alternative sequels for Inn), Grey Areas (Odric's fanfic), Royal Succession (goblins),The Tracker's Message (eldrazi on Innistrad) and Ugin and his Eye (the end of OGW).
I think this is the best explanation for this interaction. CMIIW pls
