The problem with putting new Thalia in E&T is that she competes with Eldrazi Displacer and Blade Splicer for deck space in the 3 CMC zone-- and I feel Blade Splicer gives far more value than THC does since it's a recurrable Golem generator and gives them First Strike. Don't get me wrong, I love new Thalia to pieces, but when the E&T archetype runs Displacer, it feels like better value to play the card that can be devastating when recurred a few times. Selfless Spirit is cool and can protect our squishy taxers, but I'm not personally running any right now simply because I don't know what to drop to fit it in.
What variant? In mono-W and GW, I'd jam them both. In E&T, me and a friend are in the process of testing Selfless.
Eldrazi and Taxes! I think both could matter, but I am not sure which one to play right now. What do you think of Selfless Spirit?
Too early to say, to be honest. I'll get back to you once I have a bit more data. It makes the curve a bit smoother, which I appreciate. I don't like Thalia, Heretic Cathar in E&T for the reasons that MatsuriFramboise alluded to.
I think that gearhulk competes with sunlance and ghostly prison for sideboard slots. They're good in similar matches with gearhulk extending into elves and stompy. One of my worries is that a five drop is too expensive to use in burn, zoo, elves and affinity where the above mentioned cards either shine or are very good. Path lets us ramp into it and noble hierarch is good but those are not guaranteed.
One of the reasons that I like sunlance is that it's a fast card where we need fast answers. It's not quite as good against elves but still not bad in that match up.
Ghostly prison is great vs affinity except in the case of etched champion and cranial plating. Sunlance is not any better in that case. Ghostly prison makes destructive revelry (what many burn players bring in against us) a worthwhile card rather than a trap. If you use leyline as well then it gets very good. Elves can just generate enough mana to pay for the tax.

Your success in playing dnt/hatebears is determined largely by your ability to read and prepare for the meta that you will be playing in. Furthermore, it has an absolutely brutal learning curve. Expect to lose; a lot.
I'm really impressed how good is Gearhulk. I'm testing with all splash possibles. so far so good
I bet that the games you're talking was good in themselves. There is NO bad games where a Hulk may be better than a Wrath.
I'm speaking about really tough MU's that is uneasy to handle without sideboard cards.
Nonsense... I faced Merfolks, Affinity and CoCo Zoo. Gearhulk was timely. Against affinity and Merfolks, counterspells is a thing against ***. So keeping that in mynd, My Gearhulk was devastating.
Edit: PS: I'm using 2 Gearhulk in main deck and 1 in sideboard. No need to replace ghostly prison for me.
- I tap 5 mana and place my Hulk, m-kay?
- I eat eat all my board for that ravager, and put all that counters on my Etched Champion. Lets resolve Your Hulk.
- I choose my Hulk, m-kaay?
- I choose my champion and a cranial plating. Also I have one or 2 Citadels. Enjoy Your Hulk bro.
- I put my 5th counter on the vial to put a Hulk so You can not counter it, You Smelly Fish!
- Sorry bro, but Youre dead 2 turns ago. So no hulks for You today!
- I put my 5th counter on the vial to put a Hulk so You can not counter it, You Smelly Fish!
- Sorry bro, but Youre dead 2 turns ago. So no hulks for You today!
- I put my 5th counter on the vial to put a Hulk so You can not counter it, You Smelly Fish!
- Okay, I'll keep my Lord Of Atlantis, Vial and the Spreading Seas.
Here is my 2nd lord from my vial and here is 2x 4/4 unblockable Mutavaults for You. Enjoy Your Hulk bro.

Don't come with comments and nonsenses that add nothing to the discussion. It looked like "your opponents were bad, so all your choices and this card might be too", even wthout you seen the matches.
I'm pointing that there is a line to play with the card that a few still didn't see. catmix and jendo are streaming with the cards and you can see how good it is all by yourself.
Gearhulk is not a card to use if you're already winning. On the contrary, you need him when you're behind in the game, in games that you have to save your lifepoints and you have to play defensively. So that is when he was amazing
I don't argue with You, buddy. You re have your opinion already. I just want to caution other fellow players.
Rather then relaying on a Hulk when Your state is bad, I prefer to use cards that prevent me from being in a bad state. I guess this is just a different approach for a game planning.
PS
that add nothing to the discussion.
You know what? I have some arguments at least! About high cost of a Hulk's hardcasting. About loss of tempo when Yoou trying to vial it in. About thing that's it's bad to allow Youre enemy to choose what to keep. And other stuff.
But from You I see only 'Muh Hulk so potent much wonder! Wonna not hear anybody! '
I'd say 'The pot shouldn't call the kettle black' ;-)
This is getting kind of stupid at an alarming rate. Can we not argue over something so small before we even have significant data on whether or not it's good? That's kind of the whole point of trying new stuff.
So I just tested out gearhulk in my sb as a two of mainly for the elves matchup (there 4 people in my meta with it built but two play it regularly) however, I brought it in against my living end opponent (I didn't see it when it would have helped) but I cast him on an empty board and won that way with good ol 4/5 vigilance beats.
I'm currently on mono white and have been going 3-1 consistently with a 4-0 last night.
Just by thinking about it, Gearhulk seems to be highly meta dependant wheter to play or not to play it. In general, its very interesting how many different variants of Death and Taxes exist nowadays, and its even a tier 2 deck! This proves that Death and Taxes has to adjust to the meta like every other deck, there is no "solution for everything" and no "perfect list". Gearhulk provides another option, and can't be seen as bad or good on its own I'd say. In theory, if you face the right decks, it can be incredibly good, like some people already experienced. If I want to play it or not on a given day against a given meta, is a decision made by predicting the meta right. Of course another question one has to answer is what the cards adds to the deck. DOes it fill a missing spot? Or is it not necessary at all.

I guess that that MU is strongly favored for us without any Hulks. Especially after sideboarding.
