Just bought into the BridgeVine version in paper after extensive playtesting. It's the most aggressive build at the moment, which already makes it strong, but still has room for improvement. It can get 8-12 power on board by turn 2 pretty consistently and doesn't auto-lose to a boardwipe.
For starters, I'd like to thank you all for the vast knowledge I've gathered for many years about this deck. Lately I was playing a Jund version of Hollow Vine with Lotleth Troll but decided to make that RG and go back to DredgeVine as soon as Stitcher's Supplier was spoiled.
There is a list almost identical to what I was brewing that made top8 in SCG modern classic. This is the link (I'll have to learn how to post decklists)
hmm, i've overlooked this 8th place result from SCG Modern Classic last 07/29 due to the deckname tagged as "dredge" but surprisingly it's a dredgevine: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/archetype/modern-dredge-54259#paper the list have a standard dredgevine list from eldritch moon era with the addition of the newly printed stitcher's supplier. it even placed higher than B/R Vengevine (13th) in that same tournament.
The SB is the same as Bridgevine, except I have Explosives since I'm running Brutalities main. The main deck is closer to Hollow One, with Brutalities, removal spells and Gurmag Angler.
I'm a bit more accepting of not having green in this build, because Explosives on 2 deals with RIP. I want Explosives against Affinity and Bogles anyway, and against UW there is also Thoughtseize. Also, I have the plan C of making Zombies with Cryptbreaker if my graveyard is locked by RIP/Leyline.
thanks for sharing your list izzetmage! if i may ask, since bridgevine is popular now, what do you prefer between the 2-builds? dredgevine or bridgevine? pros and cons? thanks!
I have not actually played Bridgevine yet, so take my answers with a pinch of salt:
My build:
- Goes tall with Angler
- Mills harder with Stinkweed Imp
- Maindeck removal
- Can use Explosives because there are no Bridges to exile
- Making bears with Cryptbreaker beats making Battlegrowths with Hangarback Walker when your graveyard is locked
Bridgevine:
- Goes wide with Bridge
- More explosive draws; it's casting 0-drops instead of 1-drops, and has Bushwhacker
- More combat tricks with Viscera Seer or Greater Gargadon
- Can hardcast Vengevine with 2 green sources
Mana-wise I definitely prefer my list. Swamp + RB land covers most of your possible openers; if you have 2 red and 1 black 1-drops, just play red on T1 (as I mentioned earlier, you should lead on Looting most of the time anyway) and red+black on T2. Bridgevine has this awkward problem where you have more black 1-drops than red, so you should lean towards 1 basic Swamp, but basic Swamp won't let you cast kicked Bushwhacker. Adding green shocks increases your mana woes. I almost can't believe some of the PT lists played Grim Flayer and Grisly Salvage, given how much of a pain I found Lotleth Troll to cast.
Personally, I think the PT decklists were unrefined and the deck still has a lot of possible development. You should pay more attention to the 5-0 or Challenge decklists from MTGO over the coming months instead of the PT lists just because pros played them.
thanks izzetmage! actually i haven't also played the bridgevine deck, i'm not yet sold to deck yet and with it's current price wow! i'll just do the wait and see approach till the deck proves its self. but so far to be honest i dont like what i'm seeing on youtube and twitch bridgevine plays except for the round9 protour featured match from the japanesse team
Looking to get back into playing this deck but I'm not as much a fan of the 0-mana bridge version. Does anybody play a slightly slower version that has a little more interaction similar to the traditional dredge we used to play?
Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

can you share your list? with the list from mtgtop8 then i would say liliana doesnt fit in the list, i would probably consider a sac outlet like gargadon (just like bridgevine).
i'm really looking forward for the reprint of carrion feeder in this GRN set

I think both Molderhulk and Midnight reaper are possibilities. Hulk is basically a farseek from our graveyard without drawbacks on a 6/6 zombie. I don't know if it's a 4 of since it's not something you want to discard/dredge/sacrifice but it's definitely good.
Reaper only feels OK since it's three mana but it could be a late game accelerant. When you start to slow down you can start flinging bloodghasts/gravecrawlers at them for card value but it requires creatures to die in order to gain value. It also is not something you want to discard/dredge/sacrifice.

Going that route, I think you'd want something like Commune with the Gods rather than Grisly Salvage. Overall the chances of getting 2-for-1'ed are probably too great. And you have no way to get the enchantment back if they destroy it.
@FuneralofGod, thanks for the upgrade/suggestion using commune with the gods, and also thanks for card evaluation of geist.
@jackad7, i guess 2-of would be a good fit for molderhulk as we need to start building the grave in order to cast it for cheap mana, what land is good to pair with molderhulk, ghost quarter/field of ruin?
I think Molderhulk belongs in a different deck. Think of it like our version of Bedlam Reveler. I could see him in a Gitrog type of deck, but not really in Dredge Vine. Seven creatures is a considerable amount, but the fact that he brings Bloodghast back with him is pretty cool. I'm looking forward to seeing people experiment with this and some other new cards from GRN. After all, Ravnica (and the Golgari) are what gave us Dredge in the first place.
Is Firemane Angel any good in the sideboard in a meta with a decent amount of burn/Aggro?
With all the ways we have to just dump it straight to the graveyard, I'd think gaining anywhere from 2-4 life a turn passively would be backbreaking against those kinds of decks.

has anyone here tried using Wreath of Geists? card looks good together with insolent neonate(menace) and lotleth troll (trample regenerate) or worst case stinkweed imp (flying).
