I dont want to, or essentially wont, be shelling out for Goyf, its just not something I can justify price wise to my wife.
Would I be better of running Domri in a Gruul Rush approach? If so, what would be the ideal creature set? With Domri, I keep looking at his -2, and thinking I need something with some bite to function as removal, or should I drop him all together?
This is a potential current 75. I moved the Chandras to the sideboard and cut the chokes, as I have found blue decks not playing as many islands anymore. Chandra seems weak, and I actually cut her a lot in sideboarding. I wanted to try out lightning helix some more, since our twin match up is good, and burn match up is awful. I want to put a Linvala somewhere in the sideboard, most likely in for the extra tec edge, since that is my flex spot right now.
I am really tempted to put a hallowed fountain in the main, in for the tec edge, and put 3 negates in the sideboard, but I haven't convinced myself that its that good.
What's everyone's thoughts on this 75? I have a GPT tomorrow and i'll do a report on it then.
So I have had about 2 hours to think over the deck I just posted (lol) and I think its really wrong to cut the Chandra's. I think adding helix's back into the deck is realistic however. It also might be possible to cut all the loxodon smiters, since they are the weakest creatures in the deck, and I find myself side boarding them out against a lot of decks.
This is what I would realistically sleeve up for a tournament:
I really want to add blue to this deck. Even if it is just for cheap counterspells, I think it would very powerful against combo decks. My LGS luckily has proxy modern tournaments every Monday, except this Monday. I am going to start playing blue zoo and report back to you guys.
I'm really keen on keeping searing blood in the deck; it's so strong. If Helix is a good card with a bad one stapled to it. Then Blood is a shock with a lava spike on it. It's been very good against affinity twin pod and junk. It's very bad in my good match ups scapeshift/R/u/x tempo/control.
So just top 32 a 350ish player PTQ in Toronto (Canada). I went 6-1 with 2 rounds to go, lost in 8th round which sucks because I could have drawn into Top 8 with a win. I prize drew round 9 and we played it out. Finished 6-3. Here is my deck list and have a full tournament report to come shortly.

Alright, so lets say your commander is Riku of Two Reflections. Combo commander, to be sure, but lets push this into the realm of absurd. You cast Palinchron and do your Riku thing to make infinite mana because we're going to need it. Forget about your extra Palinchron tokens. A million flying 4/5s is boring. So now you cast Enter the Infinite, because drawing your deck is important. Follow it up with a Obstinate Familiar because not decking yourself is equally important. Laboratory Maniac could work here too, but we're gonna go some more levels deep. Cast a Greater Good because we want a tasteful sac outlet. Follow this up with Parallel Lives, Doubling Season,Copy Enchantment, Clever Impersonator, Mycosynth Latice, Phyrexian Metamorph, and Copy Artifact giving you 6 double token effects. Here's where it gets fun now. Cast a Reef Worm. Sac it to greater good and get 256 Fish, which you sac to get 65,536 whales, which you sac to get 16,777,216 Krakens. Are we done yet? Nope! Cast Thromok the Insatiable, devouring all your krakens to make a 281,474,976,710,656/281,474,976,710,656 Thromok. Where do we go from here though? Let your opponent cast Death Mutation on him! Why, that's 7.20575940x10^16 tokens! Good thing we have Body Double to make another Thromok the Insatiable who will be a 5.19229686x10^33/5.19229686x10^33! Seems big enough, but not for us! Since we're red anyways, lets cast a Furnace of Rath, Dictate of the Twin Gods, and a Fire Servant! Now it's time to Fling your guy, dealing a spicy 4.15383749x10^34 damage to your opponent. To put that in perspective, there are an estimated 3x10^23 stars in the known universe. You dealt more damage than there are stars. That'll give your opponent something to think about. PROTIP: Dodge Spellskite decks
I've been workin on a video series to show off aggro as a whole for an archetype. the full video/s should come out soon... bout a week? But I use Zoo as an example, and I think it would be good for you guys to see:
I look forward to watching that at my next opportunity. To keep conversation flowing: how do you guys handle BGx decks? Junk and Jund seem like rough matchups for us. Blood Moon is an easy answer. But what else?
EDIT: The beginning of your video LIES. I can't find the other videos in the series. I'm a Zoo player, I'm not patient enough to wait a whole week! Where's your lack of summoning sickness?!?

Im notiorous for never having enough hate for them in my side, but i upped the hate i run for them to 2 molten rain 2 vines, 2 chained, takening out 4 helix and 3 pridemage. Add it to my 4 ghor clan and 2 ooze it should be enough
Haha. I don't have haste. Im makin the next one tonight. So youll have tomorrow. I'm like half way through moving, so im stuck in a 1 megabit a second house. Makes uploads hard.
Hey guys as promised here is my tournament report. Again my record was 6-3 in a 350ish person tournament. Some games I took notes on siding and others not so I will try and remember what came in vs. out
Round 1 - Tokens
Game 1 - He gets more business, have him at 3 can't draw burn, draw 3 lands instead.
+3 Thalia, + 3 Pyroclasm, -2 path, - 4 Steppe Lynx, -1 Brimstone
Game 2 - I apply early pressure and he amounts some sort of tokens but I draw my pyro and swing for lethal.
Game 3- He almost stabilizes, I have 1 kird ape, he has Hero of Bladehold and attacks. I take 8 and then he cast lingering souls. I need to draw burn or pyro because he is at 4 and I am holding bolt. I draw a pyro and swing +bolt.
Record 1-0
Round 2 - BGw
Game 1- I play Nacatl, Goyf, path his creature, drop kird ape. Nothing he can do at this point.
(I don't know he has White at this point)
+2 vines, +1 Boros, -3 pridemage ( I have a discussion after with some friends about thalia against BGw because of their low creature count shes good against it so bring it in for future matches)
He turn 1 EE for 1. Wish I woulda kept pride in. Luckily opponent isnt to bright and he wastes it on my Nacatl cuz he has no answer to it. I play ape and grim after. He lily's I sac ape. I draw nothing. he play garruk, and untaps 2 and plays goyf. I path goyf and grim lily. Boros charm Garruk. Eventuallu kills grim, I draw Nacatl, and goyf back to back and more burn in hand.
Record 2-0
Round 3 - Twin
Game 1 - 2 snap, 2 twised, and multiple bolts and still almost get there, make error of pathing snap to get extra damage in but cant stop pester/twin afterwards because I needed another white source.
Game 2 - I get there with kid apes and thalia.
Game 3 - I have alot of threats and burn. Draw alot of land after starting hand but eventually draw a goyf. He threads' it so I have to path my own goyf. I play another goyf be bolt, snap, bolts it. I try to resolve thalia and he snares it. I get a boros charm, He shoulda saved snare. Loots with land at EOT and I boros in response for the kill.
Record 3-0 (I make a few mistakes at this point but at least my play tightens up as I play on)
Round 4 - RUG Twin
Game 1 - Turn 1 Nacatl, turn 2 lion and grim, lay beats for a whole game with multiple creatures. He runs out of answers and I have board full of creatures.
+Thalia, + Vines, - Steppe Lynx, - 1 brimestone
Game 2 -
We battle back and forth and I have him within lethal next turn but holding double land. He pestermite and twin because he has no other play I reveal nothing ... next game.
Game 3 - I bring in Blood Moon as his manabase is worst than I had previously estimated. I play Nacatl turn 1, he has slow hand. He casts goyf, I play another threat, then drop blood moon. He never recovers and I hold back ape and grim in case he angers.
Record 4-0
Round 5 - POD with Blue (neat deck and really nice guy, he goes on to finals)
Game 1 - I overwhelm him with creatures and force him to chump and kill anything that matters with burn/path.
Game 2 - I keep a great hand but his is better :/ He goes turn 1 hiearch, turn 2 finks, into turn three pod. I have turn 1 threat and two turn 2 threats with blood moon turn 3 but he has active pod regardless so I have to deal with it. Turn 3 I am forced to play pridemage to kill pod. He has another and gets more creatures out. I turn 4 pridemage his pod. He plays a few other threats killing my guys with nekretal and phantasmal images to copy it. I play pyro to reset most of the board and he has a token left. He play a BOP which is annoying but I finally cast Blood Moon, he top decks Birthing POD and start the cycle again and gets thagtusk to nail the coffin. Next game...
Game 3 - I have good beat and get him down to 4 with only 1 creature on board. I have double kird ape and he has only 1 blocker and I have burn in hand. He top decks tragtusk so I burn it EOT. play out the game he draws eternal witness and grabs tusk back. then gets a resto and then pod into image for copy resto playing thragtusk like 4 times. Looked good until he ripped that thragtusk. Great opponent and great match. Wish him well.
Record 4-1
Round 6 - Tokens
(I give my buddy a dirty look as he said I wouldnt face any tokens in trounament and glad I didn't listen)
Game 1 - He gets me with double intangible and i can do much to finish him so he takes it.
Game 2- Thalia is so good. make it really hard for him to cast anything and apply early pressure forcing him to chump alot and I keep applying pressure and burn him out.
Game 3 - We both mull to 6. I keep a 1 lander with 3 threats I can play. He apparently kept a 2 lander and took him a while to get to 3. I take forever to draw my 2nd land but draw 2 more 1 drops to keep pressure up. Auriok was tough to kill with 2 paths out. He resolves a spectral while at 4 which is scary cuz he has double intangible and honnor of the pure (due to not doing much early) and gains 3 off auriok. I have to swing with field and he blocks all my guys. I pyro to kill whole board including to deal with 4/4. He doesnt draw gas next turn and then I get to drop thalia. He is force to block her at some point as I get a couple pridemage in and make her scary. I end up burning him out after auriok is dead.
Record 5-1
Round 7 - BGw
He can't deal with my threats as I overwhelm him with no board wipe and burn him out.
Game 2 +thalia + vines - mage and something else.
Thalia wrecks his deck taking away his answers. I have pressure all game. Thinks he is about to 2-1 me with maelstrom pulse on my Nacatl but I have charm and run away with it.
Record 6-1
Round 8 - UWR Control (This is a *****ty matchup)
Game 1 - I Keep a good hand against most decks, turn 1 threat, turn 2 goyf with double path and bolt. Sucks against control. We eventually go to top deck and he rips a resto and a third collaseum. next game :/
+thalia, + boros, +Blood moon
Game 2 - I have a turn 1 beater and thalia, he has double wall of omens. I pray to draw bloodmoon and never do. He gets 1 resto and I path it, he draws a second and I have no answer.
Wish I woulda had a better matchup in this round because I coulda drawn into top 8 with the win.
Record 6-2
Round 9 - Affinity (We prize split)
Game 1- its a straight up race he has flyers and I dont. I burn a couple creautres along the way but he gains some life off of Vault skirge and kills me turn before I can kill him.
Finally get to bring in my affinity hate +ancients, + shatterstorm, + pyroclasm
Game 2 - I Mull to 5 because no lander and 1 lander with no playables. I see none of my board cards and get destoryed. *****ty way to end my day but was out of Top 8 and prize split anyways.
All and all I am really happy with the deck. Not happy with Steppe Lynx even though it was great for me in tournament. Going to try running Gore Clan for the Steppe and 2 loam Lion for the Brimestone and see how it runs. This deck is legit though and it crushes midrange which is pretty prominent in the meta.
I dont like lynx, esspeically with out knights. right now I think there are alot of better 1 drop options than that cat. I also cant suggest ghorclan enough.
I want to keep the basic removal/pump package of
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lightning Helix
4 Boros Charm
4 Path to Exile
4 Ghor-Clan Rampager
I dont want to, or essentially wont, be shelling out for Goyf, its just not something I can justify price wise to my wife.
Would I be better of running Domri in a Gruul Rush approach? If so, what would be the ideal creature set? With Domri, I keep looking at his -2, and thinking I need something with some bite to function as removal, or should I drop him all together?
Spirits
2 Lightning Helix
3 Boros Charm
4 Path to Exile
4 Experiment One
4 Goblin Guide
4 Wild Nacatl
4 Burning-Tree Emissary
4 Flinthoof Boar
4 Ghor-Clan Rampager
Less burn than you probably want, but lets you cast off burning tree more. Other wise Id do:
4 Lightning Helix
4 Boros Charm
4 Path to Exile
4 Experiment One
4 Goblin Guide
4 Wild Nacatl
2 Qasili Pridemage
2 Flinthoof Boar
4 Ghor-Clan Rampager
Edit: domri is only good when your meta is a lot of delver, tempo, and control. In a rock combo meta hes bad.

2 Marsh Flats
2 Stopming Ground

This is a potential current 75. I moved the Chandras to the sideboard and cut the chokes, as I have found blue decks not playing as many islands anymore. 3 Stony Silence
1 Lightning Helix
3 Molten Rain

This is just a rough draft but I think it can potentially powerful.
Ok after some playing and reading,
-3 Grim Lavamancer
-1 Searing blood
-1 plains

I'm really keen on keeping searing blood in the deck; it's so strong. If Helix is a good card with a bad one stapled to it. Then Blood is a shock with a lava spike on it. It's been very good against affinity twin pod and junk. It's very bad in my good match ups scapeshift/R/u/x tempo/control.
She has not been that good for me lately at all
Ive been tinkering with a blue list as well.
Im running izzet charm though bc that card is insane good
Ive also thought about splashing black again for rakdos charm and maybe thoughtseize
What would the manabase look like for a black splashed list?
