3-1 today. Won against elves, Tron and obliterater Rock. My loss was black/green infect. Game 1' I hose em, game 2, I get him to 1, crack back is 2x groundswell and 2 mutagenic growth. Game 3 my friend walks through door and asks what I'm playing. So I forgot to put my bad scry to bottom on a mull to 4. So he gets it as I see no green In a bts, bts wacker and 1 mountain hand..
M2 - Living End
G1 We both mull to 6, I open with Ooze turn 2 on the play and he don't cycle anything. Next turn I go with Domri and he cycles Street Wraith and then cascades into LE taking out my OOze. Then I start playing my big guys and Domri ticking up. I had Domri at 7 when he scoops.
G2 I start with Nacatl into Qasali hiting 4, then 5 on the next turn with and Hierarch on the board when he LE. I had 2 Paths for his 3/4s and he would be left with 2 Architects of Will, which I had Finks and KotR on my hand to stop his attacks. I Path both his dudes and cast finks, that gets a Shriekmaw and don't get to trade with Architects. When I cast KotR he had another Living end discarding 2 Faerie Macabre to empty my grave and I scoop.
G3 Start with Nacatl into 2 Hiearch hitting for 5, he plays Shriekmaw to kill the Nacatl, I play Qasali and attack for 3 with Noble. He kills Qasali with another Shriekmaw and cycles Pale Recluse. I hit him for 2 with Noble. At this moment I was holding Goyf and KotR on my hand, as he was at 8 life and had to LE on the next couple turns. He does that on his turn, after discarding Faerie Macabre to take out 1 land and 1 Qasali from my grave. Then he gets Faerie, 2 Shriekmaws and Pale Recluse while I get Nacatl. He says "kill your Nacatl" pointing at Shriekmaw, then I put her in the grave and asked who the other Shriekmaw is targeting. He tilts, looks at his cards and kills Pale Recluse. I play Goyf and Knight and pass. He attacks me for 8, leaving me at 7. He was at 6 and hardcaast Simian, completely tapping out. I drew Domri that fights and wins. Wasan't a topdeck victory, since I had 6 mana on board and could tap all of them and tap Knight to get Kessig and trample with Goyf over the Simian for exactly 6 (Goyf 4/5, +4/+0).
(2-0)
M3 - Naya Company
G1 I had Nacatl, then Nacatl + Hierarch then Goyf. I had a Bolt for his Ooze and a Path in hand. He casts Company that finds nothing and scoops.
G2 Got grindy as hell, I trade 1 Knight +1 Bolt for 2 Knights of his, later I trade 1 Knight for 1 Knight and 1 Bolt but he had Ooze that went big and I didn't find removal on time.
G3 He had turn 2 Voice that eats a Bolt. I hit with Goyf and he plays Smiter. I play Knight and he plays Elspeth and makes a soldier. I play Domri, fight the Knight with his Smiter after using Knight's ability to get 1 more mana and play Finks. I attack with Goyf on his Elspeth and he chumps with the soldier. He makes another soldier and pass. I attack with Finks and Goyf on his Elspeth and Knight on him, he chumps Knight and Goyf and Elspeth goes down a bit. Domri goes up and I pass. He makes a Soldier with Elspeth and some creature that I don't remember and passes. I -2 Domri to fight with the soldier, played another Domri and -2 to fight the other creature and hit exactly for lethal.
(3-0)
At this moment there were 3 ppl 3-0, I got paired down and the other 2 ID.
M4 - Elves
G1 Had a fast start with Noble followed by Smiter. Turn 3 another Smiter and another Noble. He plays Company and finks 2 Lords and I Bolt one of them. I played Ooze and he can't keep up.
G2 he mulls to 5 and kept an one lander so my slot hand of T3 Domri, T4 Knight with a lot of removal gets there.
(4-0)
M5 ID for top8
Ended swiss in 1st place and top8 was:
1- Me
2- Bant Boggles
3- Burn
4- Burn
5- Jund
6- Melira Company
7- Elves
8- Tron (OH LUCK, WHY YOU ABANDONED ME SO EARLY?)
Top8 - Tron
G1 on the play had Nacatl, that attacked turn 2 (17), into double Bolt (11), into Noble + attack for 4 (7), another attack for 4 taking him to 2, after he took 1 dmg from his Karplusan Forest. He finds the last tron piece on the top (WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY) and plays Wurmcoil. I had to find Path or Bolt and Qasali would give me another draw step. I drew land. Took a hit for 6 and he goes back to 8. I drew Bolt (WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY) and tron does tron things.
G2 he mulls to 5 and I go Teeg into Knight and get there
G3 I open my 7 of Bolt, Kessig, Fetch, Stomping Ground, Smiter, Birds, Dromoka's Command. After thinking a lot, I thought the land was too slow on the draw and opted for a mull. Don't know if the decision was right, even more as how the game progresses. What do you guys think?
My 6 were REALLY BAD and I go to 5 had a Fulminator T2 to take out his Tower or Mine. Opted for the Mine. He had another 2 in hand (and he said after that he drew another Tower from the top right after the Fulminator turn). I play Knight that hits for 7 before he drew the last Tron piece right from the top and tron does tron things.
Top4 was Tron x Jund and Bant Boggles vs Melira CoCo.
Finals was Tron x Bant Boggles
Bant Boggles won.
The deck was really solid. The games I lost to Living End and the Mirror were really open and even the first one with Tron.
Domri is awesome and he won me at least 2 matches, maybe 3. On some matches I'm starting to think he is better than Company.
Command was also pretty good, but on the matches played ended up being another removal spell that buffs. Didn't get to use it to prevent damage. But the card is awesome and I'm loving it more each time I play with it.
Only change I would make is -1 Temple Garden and +1 Canopy. I don't have one and couldn't find anyone to borrow from.
So, here it is. 4-0-1 on Swiss to a loss on top8 feels a little bad, even more as Tron was the only bad match on the whole top8. =[
Thaks for all the advice on the past days, guys. =]
I like that take on the list, it's much more suited in a Burn/Affinity/Infect meta. Just having a turn 3 CoCo putting in 8+ power on turn 3 is just soooo much fun though.
The thought I've been having with Domri x CoCo is that everything that kills Domri, would have killed one of the creatures that comes in by Company (be it Decay, Dreadbore, Pulse...), so that would leave 1 creature on the battlefield x one Domri activation (that could or could not have hit a creature on top).
But the big majority of spells that kills the creatures that came on the Company don't get Domri (Path, Terminate, Roast, Wrath). He also threatens to ult and, in our deck, ulting him is game over almost every time. So you pressure the opponent into going out of his way to kill Domri. That often is good for us.
Every creature matchup I played yesterday and the past few days with this list I felt I was favored. Played 11 games with the list and lost only 3 (Living End, Ad Nauseam and Tron).
Have people tested Declaration in Stone extensively? It seems as though there is little to no consensus with a lot of players gravitating towards Little Zoo right now.
I have a some RPTQ snaps and expeditions that I plan on turning into Goyfs, so I hope to slowly be making my way over into Zoo territory.
I'd drop the birds since your running 1 walker. If you had 3 or so I would. But in my coco list I run 1 Arlinn and no birds. I have no problem with mana
It's a tough call. Unfortunately, it was somewhat at the mercy of your draws, because you really didn't have much to chase your T2 Loxodon Smiter with. On the other hand... you had a T2 Loxodon Smiter, and that counts for quite a bit. I would have been tempted to keep, but I understand your mull.
I would snap mulligan. Bolt is already really bad, command is bad unless they play a pyroclasm and the only pressure you have is a smitter, I'd keep if you had a pridemage.
forgot your hand by now, but I always side out bolts. COCO zoo and walker zoo already have a steep hill to climb against tron whereas gruul pushes through 80% of the time.
About your list I would rethink your sideboard. Kataki, Kor Firewalker, Thrun are narrow options, in the sense that they work in very specific matchups. In the meantime Bonfire of the damned is too gimmicky, you can't just wait to draw it in the perfect time. You need to assess the card both in its best scenario and the worst scenario and believe me I have run Bonfire and I have come across the worst scenarios much more than the opposite.
Modern is such a big format that I would settle for options that while not being the best in specific scenarios, have wider uses. In this regard, I have switched to Torpor Orb (I like spreading my threats, that's why I am not using Hushwing Gryff), Phyrexian Unlife, and others.

I left Bolts in because Ooze does nothing in that match and Domri is to slow to keep 3 in. If I had another card to come in, I'd take out the 3rd Domri as well.
Bolt can push the final points of damage despite his boardstate

This is one of the places where CoCo is better than Domri, since you always keep it in against Tron. I can see why you kept Bolts in, but I would have brought in Finks, F. Mage, Teeg, Thalia, and maybe even Thrun. Your board just isn't great against Tron unfortunately so the way it's built as is you're going to have to just concede that matchup.
Yeah, I went into the tournament expecting to avoid Tron. Since I knew there were going to be some bad matches for the Trons there (2-3 Burns, 2 Infects, Boggles, RG Land Destruction). Managed to do it unti the top8 and it was close. The elf player in 7th place had better tie breakers by just a few points.
Fulminators, Thalias and Teeg was what I sided in. I'll probably add one Crumble to my sideboard and maybe one Stony Silence somewhere (there are only 2 Affinity players around here and they play ~1 time per month).
I did won one match vs Tron with this same list 1 week ago, but it was a very strange game hahahaha. It says a lot that I won by ulting Domri with just one Ooze on the board since turn 2.
I will probably switch to Gruul next week, since I have still not found a list for it that I'm really happy with for my meta.
I gues your right. I have sadly up to 6 Tron decks on my modern star city gsme night. So I have more to remove and add, I bring in 3 stonys, 3x crumbles and my 4th path from side, So I drop all bolts, Arlinn and scoozes. That is is in my coco build. sadly my walker zoo is has the worst matchup of all zoos I play. I mean I run 4x fulminators but still
Round 1 RW Prison 2-0
Round 2 RG Tron 2-1, he had turn 3 tron in all 3 games
Round 3 Blue Moon 2-0
Round 4 UWR Nahiri 1-2, game 3 got flooded and only revealed a creature to domri 3 times out of the 10+ times I activated him.
Round 5 Elves 1-2, only won because of canonist

Gruul is the best we can be against Tron.
Also if you're not running Company you might want to consider playing Molten Rain over Fulminator Mage in the board. It often does more damage (since you usually want to sacrifice the Mage on the turn you play it anyway), hits basic lands too if necessary, and has the added bonus of growing the Tarmogoyf. Mage seems like a stronger card in Jund or Grixis, where you can recycle it with Kolaghan's Command, but unfortunately in Naya we get no such synergies

Those Fulminators I ran where borrowed, I usually have Molten Rain in those spots. But it has led to some awkward situations when I board them in along with Thalia.
Also, in matches like Jeskai and Jund, it helps that Domri can find Fulminator with his +1.
At my lgs with all Tron, I play my gruul till I win the pin to add to my collection then play my zookeeper and coco list. Then if the Tron count is low, I play abzan junk. But I love zoo and will play it. Now that kird ape is common, I'm even playing pauper zoo and killing it.. Oh my lovely animals
