Played in GP Minnie today. Didn't get there, but I did 6-3, which I am very happy with.
I lost in the first round to goblins, then beat elves, two twin decks, something else, rock then lost to UWR and then black white tokens, finally beating scapeshift in the 9th.
Had a ton of fun. Met Brian Kibler. I was such a looser when I went up to him, and he was really cool about the whole thing.
As for the Ghor-Clan I run 4, and have never had a problem with drawing too many. I like it because it's also a threat that can't be decayed or threadsed and that helps in some matches.
My faith in Banayarama is restored. I wish I could do it all over again tomorrow. (And every day after haha)
First, anyone knows if kibler is playing big naya at GP Minneapolis?
Second, let me introduce my self. I'm not pro player, play only at my local store (but the field is full with pro decks).
Know I will make some report about a modern FNM at my local store.
There was about to 12 players, and half of the field was afinity.
Round 1
2 x 0 against KikiPod (game 1 thundermaw at turn 3. game 2 kessig wolfrun got the game for me).
Round 2
2 x 1 against BG rock (game 1 lost to phyrexian obliterator, game 2 and 3 I aggro more than he could handle).
Round 3
0 x 2 against Affinity (in game 2 didnt have the time to cast fracturing gust)
Round 4
1 x 2 against Affinity (in game 2 I cast fracturing gust and totally onwm the game, but in game 3 I dind't hade chance)
How You deal against Affinity? It´s kinda half of the field at my local store and it's a trouble for me, becouse I (apparently) don't know how to handle.
Kibler recently had a series of videos with his current list. He's playing 3 qasali pridemage main, with 2 ancient grude and 1 fracturing gust in the side. He had frequently mentioned changing the grudges to stony silence, and getting a 3rd in. Between 4 bolt, path, pridemage, silence/grudge and gust, we're usually well off.

Alright, so lets say your commander is Riku of Two Reflections. Combo commander, to be sure, but lets push this into the realm of absurd. You cast Palinchron and do your Riku thing to make infinite mana because we're going to need it. Forget about your extra Palinchron tokens. A million flying 4/5s is boring. So now you cast Enter the Infinite, because drawing your deck is important. Follow it up with a Obstinate Familiar because not decking yourself is equally important. Laboratory Maniac could work here too, but we're gonna go some more levels deep. Cast a Greater Good because we want a tasteful sac outlet. Follow this up with Parallel Lives, Doubling Season,Copy Enchantment, Clever Impersonator, Mycosynth Latice, Phyrexian Metamorph, and Copy Artifact giving you 6 double token effects. Here's where it gets fun now. Cast a Reef Worm. Sac it to greater good and get 256 Fish, which you sac to get 65,536 whales, which you sac to get 16,777,216 Krakens. Are we done yet? Nope! Cast Thromok the Insatiable, devouring all your krakens to make a 281,474,976,710,656/281,474,976,710,656 Thromok. Where do we go from here though? Let your opponent cast Death Mutation on him! Why, that's 7.20575940x10^16 tokens! Good thing we have Body Double to make another Thromok the Insatiable who will be a 5.19229686x10^33/5.19229686x10^33! Seems big enough, but not for us! Since we're red anyways, lets cast a Furnace of Rath, Dictate of the Twin Gods, and a Fire Servant! Now it's time to Fling your guy, dealing a spicy 4.15383749x10^34 damage to your opponent. To put that in perspective, there are an estimated 3x10^23 stars in the known universe. You dealt more damage than there are stars. That'll give your opponent something to think about. I personally don't like it. I don't see how it synergizes with domri's fight ability as your creatures are no longer attacking after combat, when you could activate domri. As well, I'd only want to run a god if I knew it could be a creature at least half the time, and I don't see this deck getting 7 r/w devotion at any point where it's not already winning.

Well, bascially I beat Twin all 3 times by just getting some pressure and never tapping out.
It was frustrating, but I needed to at least represent that I could break up the combo at all times. There was a number of ways to do that, but usually it involved just having a KOTR out.
One of the rounds I did lose was to UWR and I guess you could say that I did miss Smiter in that matchup, but no where else to be honest. It's usually one of the first cards I side out; when I was playing him.
I honestly don't think I would change anything if I did the tournament over. I'd probably play a bit tighter in round one. I should've beaten goblins, but I played really sloppy. I actually forgot that you can't block creatures with mountainwalk if you have a Sacred Foundry in play, and then forgot I could KOTR my foundry away to block.
Just really sloppy stuff.
Thundermaw was unreal. He won me two rounds on his back. I would never consider taking him out. The one round I lost to go 5-3 was agasinst BW tokens and I wish I could've had more Thundermaws agasinst him.
My list runs no Domri Rade, what do you think about him? Should I put some in? To me it looked slow and too attrition-oriented for this combo format... But I want to hear your experiences with him. This is where I am now:
Scapeshift and Tron were so much trouble that I'm trying splashing blue for Negate. It may or may not be worth it. What I'm wondering about is Sejiri Steppe. Do you consider it too narrow? I play 4x KOTR and there's a lot of turns where you end up not attacking with him because sac'ing is better (say they have a Voice of Resurgence or a 0/5 wall to your 4/4 kotr, or a tarmo that stops it, or they can double block, or you want to block that Geist, so on). Those turns, I'd love so much to have access to Steppe in my deck. It may just be too bad otherwise though.
How are you guys beating:
Auras
Burn
and less difficult but still tough
Scapeshift
Tron
and Jund
?
thanks!
I like this change. Honestly, you have so many manlands that slow the deck down. I've never loved them, and switching to 3 more fetches to make Knight better is probably correct.

Ok, so some joker online's running Gift of Orzhova in a deck being reported as a Kibler Zoo.
Anyone wanna explain this one?
It's cute but I'm pretty sure people still get their teeth kicked in for sticking auras onto targetable critters fairly, right?
If Tron is a huge chunk of your meta, it seems like you should probably have 4 Qasali Pridemage and the 4th maindeck Path to Exile. As for the sideboard, all the cards (with the exception of sowing salt) are cards that are reasonable to play in the first place (stony silence/grudge kill affinity too, choke and thrun kill blue decks) so it's not like you're just devoting so many cards to 2 matchups. Hell, even the sowing salts are decent against Scapeshift.
