Maybe I'm just not playing the deck well, but I seem to have trouble with all the main decks in the format.
Affinity, UWR, Twin and Pod all gave me trouble last week, and it seems like all the other decks I don't have issues with.
I'm actually beginning to think the deck is just not good TBH. I'm going to try a Blitz variant this week to see if I like it better, but I'm honestly just fed up with the sub-par results I've seen so far.
I've been testing this deck quite a bit recently with a friend who wants to start playing big zoo, and this isn't even due to budget concerns, but I've been wondering if Tarmogoyf even has a place in this deck. The deck itself only plays 4 different card types, and only has instants and lands as ways to proactively grow it's Tarmogoyfs, wheras a deck like Jund has discard and many of the blue decks have cantrips that are sorceries. I understand that Tarmogoyf looks at both graveyards, but what if you're playing against UWR Control, where most of what he has are instants and lands as well. I realize I must sound crazy for not wanting to include Tarmogoyf in the deck, and I'd actually appreciate it if someone enlightened me on the fact of how wrong I am.
I find this deck to have a great matchup against all the top tier decks. I have never lost a match to twin. I have lost a total of 2 matches to pod (1 kiki, 1 melira both top decked) i have lost once to affinity.
Its the tier 1.5 and 2 decks that seem to give this deck fits, but even then most of those are very winnable.
It doesnt matter how many card types you play for Tarmogoyf to be good. He is a solid 2 drop. That is first and foremost the biggest upside to him. I played this deck for a long while without them and not having a heavy hitting 2 drop is just very slow and unimpactful to the board.
Would someone mind testing this matchup with me on Cockatrice? I need to test it against UW Tron for some stuff I'm working on for the primer. Would be a big help. Shoot me a PM if you're interested. Thanks.

If the deck is any good, why on any given week does it only 4-0 dailies once or twice at best. Most weeks it doesn't even show up.
I think this deck is designed to beat little zoo decks, and to be honest those decks are just not out there.

yet. give me a week ;p
In all seriousness, its like a jund with a better aggro matchup and a worse combo matchup. and this meta is mostly combo.
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lightning Helix
4 Path to Exile
12 other spells
Sideboard
2 Ancient Grudge
2 Back to Nature
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Combust
1 Grafdigger's Cage
2 Rule of Law
1 Shatterstorm
2 Stony Silence
1 Sword of Light and Shadow
2 Thrun, the Last Troll
15 sideboard cards
Has anyone considered a small black or blue splash for some disruption, like one or two lands? I feel like I need discard or counters for all the combo in this format. I really like the deck, I cut the helix's completely for a third smiter. A lot of Jund in my meta and better synergy with Domri warrants the change.
Also need help with a sideboard, I usually just bring a box of 30 SB cards in the colors and pick what I need based on who shows up. If I went to a big tourney at an unknown meta I would run something along these lines:
2x Blood Moon
2x Choke
1x Creeping Corrosion
1x Rule of Law
1x Cannonist
2x Fracturing Gust
2x Ancient Grudge
1x Thrun
2x Aven Mindcensor
1x Torpor Orb
JUst careful on what disruption you play; Big Zoo gets it's power from speedily throwing out medium threats. Just don't overdo the disruption, lest turn into a bad version of another deck(though personally, I am a fan of bant lists, which splashing blue would sound like). But the Idea of a Tribal big zoo sounds intriguing; I wonder if the Tribal thread has Big Zoo lists? Anyways, back on subject; try not to become a bad version of another deck -- with a full playset of discard in black, you have basically become an Ajundi(Jund with white splash) list, for example. Not knocking the idea, just forewarning. Just don't lose the points where the deck is strong in splashing, and think about Tribal Flames if you go that route.
Hey there! So, with Wild Nacatl being unbanned, and the meta changed from over 1.5 years ago, its time to reboot the thread.
With that in mind, I can recycle the OP and ajust the video... But Alex Belty, you've had the most success with the deck. Would you like to take my Op and change it up however you see fit and I'll post it up (and credit you of course) No pressure if your busy, just thought Id ask.
Is that the only access you have to MTGO? I mean it can wait until after you have a comp in front of you. Id suggest you just take my OP (Using edit to see all the code in it) and just change what ever you see fit.

Alright, so lets say your commander is Riku of Two Reflections. Combo commander, to be sure, but lets push this into the realm of absurd. You cast Palinchron and do your Riku thing to make infinite mana because we're going to need it. Forget about your extra Palinchron tokens. A million flying 4/5s is boring. So now you cast Enter the Infinite, because drawing your deck is important. Follow it up with a Obstinate Familiar because not decking yourself is equally important. Laboratory Maniac could work here too, but we're gonna go some more levels deep. Cast a Greater Good because we want a tasteful sac outlet. Follow this up with Parallel Lives, Doubling Season,Copy Enchantment, Clever Impersonator, Mycosynth Latice, Phyrexian Metamorph, and Copy Artifact giving you 6 double token effects. Here's where it gets fun now. Cast a Reef Worm. Sac it to greater good and get 256 Fish, which you sac to get 65,536 whales, which you sac to get 16,777,216 Krakens. Are we done yet? Nope! Cast Thromok the Insatiable, devouring all your krakens to make a 281,474,976,710,656/281,474,976,710,656 Thromok. Where do we go from here though? Let your opponent cast Death Mutation on him! Why, that's 7.20575940x10^16 tokens! Good thing we have Body Double to make another Thromok the Insatiable who will be a 5.19229686x10^33/5.19229686x10^33! Seems big enough, but not for us! Since we're red anyways, lets cast a Furnace of Rath, Dictate of the Twin Gods, and a Fire Servant! Now it's time to Fling your guy, dealing a spicy 4.15383749x10^34 damage to your opponent. To put that in perspective, there are an estimated 3x10^23 stars in the known universe. You dealt more damage than there are stars. That'll give your opponent something to think about. PROTIP: Dodge Spellskite decks
According to my data, "Big zoo" is still in the lead with 3 more representations online than small zoo, so I wouldn't be too worried. Plus we all know kiblers got our back.
