I was thinking about how people playing midrange zoo are having success with collected company and a common theme is how good utility creatures are in the sideboard. Considering that, would magus of the moon be better out of the board than blood moon? Sure it's more fragile but being able to dig for it in match ups where it's an auto win seems really good.
How do you feel about -1 Smiter and -1 Scav Ooze and putting in 2 Finks? Or would this change the numbers to become too inconsistent?
I was thinking of playing 2 smiter, 2 finks but decided on 4 smiter. I know I want to shave the number of scavenging ooze and pridemages down but I am not sure what to replace them with. I was considering woolly thoctar for a long time.

Not a fan of magus. Dying to dismemer, abrupt decay, path to exile, lightning bolt, and every other cheap removal spell is a big knock in my opinion. I do like him against scapeshift since you can hopefully find him instant speed to turn off valukuts.
- I did consider it, but felt like it might not have done nothing if I fell behind at any point. Might try it out against them in the future.
- Finding firewalker off a CC is still great, a lot of the time burn can't beat regardless when it comes into play. I did turn 3 it in one of the games and casting turn 2 thalia. Like I've said before, I really dislike leyline.
- I couldn't find better 2 drops to shave the numbers down. I like 3 pridemage 2 ooze the best. I think pridemage is really good right now and ooze not as much. In the past I have had a lot of success with pridemage and ooze as well as tarmogoyf as the decks 2 drops.
- Eternal witness is cute, but I wouldn't be interested. I love smiter and know that I want 2+ in the deck. I did consider thoctar, and would easily slot him in. Finks is the most playable 3 drop however. It makes burn easier to beat game 1, and helps out in grindy games against GBx. Also provides two chump blockers against infect or another fast aggro deck.
- I like canonist against burn, infect, storm and living end. I think I want an effect like this in the board, but it might not be necessary.
- Magus dies to every removal, that's why I don't like it. It's great against bloom and scapshift if you can play it early, or find it off a CC. Dying to everything against GBx is the reason I play blood moon over him.
- Yeah to help cast firewalker. I probably should be a 2nd horizon canopy, but I was fine with the second plains.
- satyr dies to bolt and serves no utility other than a combat trick, no thanks.
- I like Brimaz with CC, might try that out. But him not trading with goyf, tasigur, and rhino is kind of a bummer.
- Again dying to bolt, ew. But I really like this card. I did experiment a little when it first came out. Grabbing a knight seems so good.
Well Osackpo, i got a bias towards more of an aggro approach than midrange, but i cant deny how good collected company is. The best compareison ive heard in the correct deck (25 plus 3 cmc creatures) its a green dig through green sun zenith.
Both cards are banned.
Now the card takes work to use, so its not "the same" but in the correct build it pulls way more than just its weight. Zoo can use it for tool boxing, but im not sure if we wanna do it hard like a deck like bant would. Like aether vial, you can use it for utility or aggression (death and taxes vs goblins). Stuff like finks and pride mage are agreasive too, so they can make the transition as semi hate bear and beater. Id like to think about lavamancer too. I also think its better in bigger zoo, though hitting a dork stinks.
Still. When i was making small zoo, my 2 four cmc slots started drifting from ajani to company. As long as you can hit 1 1 cmc, and 1 3 cmc, or 2 2 cmc, youre using all 4 mana with the upside of flash. Anything better is just broken. And i think youre deck is more or less an example of that, the correct way to use comapany.
Which brings me to my next point, i think that the list could change some numbers like finks or lavsmancer counts. Not saying i know whats correct, just youre list shows that company is good. Just about experimenting a mix of aggressive tools to add with it.
I'm the opposite, I lean towards the midrange side of things!
I do like finks, not as high on lavamancer, but I could see where he would be amazing. The issue I have with lavamancer is that it's bad with knight/goyf/and sometimes ooze.
It is very important that we play around with the numbers, it was only week 1 with collected company and no one knows for sure if my list is the way to go or not. I wanted to play what I thought was the most powerful cards to synergize with CC and get the most potential power from it.
I wouldnt run magus, ive run him in company shamans, but i also run funa shamans there, so i can easily rebuy him.
Wooly is a fine choice if you wanna stay big. Ive tested him out. Hes not as good against twin and scapeshift and delver as smiter, nor as good as knight against midrange decks, but hes pretty much even against all decks. He does what he needs to which is be big. So yes hes good, hes just not amazing.
Also, i dont wanna discount how powerful atarkas command is. Not in your build obviously, but im willing to go outta my way to run it.
I will try to get a list similar to Osackpo's list and test it this Friday. I think I will be running 1 blood moon and 2 Magus of the moons in the sideboard. I like the idea of keeping wiffs off of CC to a minimum while more consistently getting the perfect answer to amulet and scapeshift decks. As far as his vulnerability goes, I'm most worried about path vs. junk. There aren't too many decks that come to mind where I would want to blood moon them if they are running red, so I'm not to worried about bolt. Saying it dies to abrupt decay is unfair since blood moon does as well. I think running a combo of BM and magus will at least provide some variance for matchups that could further be in our favor. Worst case scenario is that it sucks and I report back saying you were right and I was wrong.
Never been a fan of great revel lists. It always frels like burn that doeant die to layline. I mean its not bad, but its not really "awesome either". Its hot or cold.
Yea thought almost the same. The last matches against burn, my opponent was able to kill me turn 4 each time. The reason why a turn 3 Kor Firewalker feels to slow for me. Maybe I am just unlucky there. Also lost with a turn 2 Firewalker on the draw. If I have 3 slots in my sideboard only for Burn, they need to win me the game if I draw them.
I wouldn't play a 2nd Canopy. It's to painful for us with all the fetches and shockslands.
I can't wait to test Company online
With the turn 3 firewalker over playing it turn 2 was because he had 2 rift bolts suspended and I wanted him to spend his entire turn casting them and just passing. Probably should have just played firewalker, but it worked out none the less.
3 Become Immense
3 Boros Charm

4 Path to Exile

2 Chained to the Rocks
2 Phyrexian Unlife
2 Stony Silence
3 Destructive Revelry
3 Geist of Saint Traft
1 Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
2 Molten Rain
His list is actually pretty close to what I posed the page previous. I use mutagenic grwoth of become immense since it can be played when tapped out. Kird and tarm I also used diff creatures, but basically the decks the same premise, though I feel he should also be using atarkas.
Definitely expected affinity but not bogles. Bogles really dropped in popularity, luckily, I also had 4 pridemages, 2 thalia, 3 blood, and 2 bonfire to bring in anyway. I like fracturing gust, but sometimes it really rots in your hand.
A lot of the decks you played are so random, preparing for a paper tournament, I tend to target 4 or 5 cards, and expect my deck and play skill to beat the other random decks. I would never dedicate targeted hate cards against soul sisters or a enchantment prison deck, that's just bad luck having to play against them. I really like overlaping sideboard cards that are great against many decks.
Bring in 2 Thalia, 2 choke. I usually take out 3 ooze, 1 bolt. Ooze really dosen't do a lot for us in this match up. Bolt can also be really weak if their trying to enchant exarch.
How do u guys feel about this build that i am currently brewing?
So far, I only tested against my own GU infect and UW control, which i find both matchup pretty good.

I've found that ooze really doesn't do enough against twin, that's why I cut it. Bolt can't kill a deciever exarch by itself and a lot of twin decks don't even play that many pestermites anymore. Also if a twin player is trying to win through comboing a pestermite against a red deck, there is a good chance you win. I only take one bolt out 1 for that reason. It is very awkward if you only have 1 in hand, because you have to rely on them casting pesermite and not exarch. I could definitely see cutting choke. A lot of blue decks play non island blue sources now, for that reason. Choke is really good when no one is expecting it, and really bad if people do.
