While I have enjoyed playing Infect in the past, I have struggled with the deck lately, which is unfortunate. With so much Thoughseize and Inquisition, you may not even have access to an infect creature by the time you get to cast one. Then, Liliana makes you get rid of your single infect creature after you actually come across another one. Without Gitaxian Probe (I even had the special art foil ones), it becomes more difficult to see if the way is clear before you go all in on pumping a creature, and its harder to fuel Become Immense. Fatal Push is a huge threat. Now with Solemnity, it seems as though we have to entirely change the Infect package in order to actually have a viable win condition. Is it insurmountable? Not sure, but it seems like the necessary adjustments to deal with all of these conditions forces us to either abandon the deck, or change it significantly in order to keep it viable. That might not be such a bad thing, but then again, the cards might not be there to support it. Each pump spell you remove to actually deal with the variety of new conditions weakens the ability to win with our 1/1 creatures. Maybe in the next set, there will be a card that enables "Proliferate x9" and then we are back in action!
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
The only way for infect to come back to Tier 1 or 2 is for WotC to print some strong "Mid range" infect creatures. Maybe a 3 drop 3/4 that can be regenerated for 2G.
An Infect deck without Glistener Elf seems strange and I really dislike Disrupting Shoal as a card (even in a Mono Blue deck).
Having Blossoming Defense in the SB and not in the maindeck seems really questionable as well.
yeah its easy to pull it apart and disagree with card choices but like i said its the only infect deck putting up results, might be time to start testing it before judging it to harshly

And you are still wrong. Metagame shifts affect modern vastly and infect does best in faster formats.

Exactly this! it isn't a surprise that in the last few weeks the rise of storm and scapeshift and even UW control has lead to more infect decks poping up and doing well, with infect completely off peoples radars i wouldn't be surprised to see it keep showing up in leagues for the next few weeks
Personally I wish chalice if the void wasn't a thing and that would give us a good match up against one of the main players in the format

With all those cantrips and no 1-drop infecter it just looks slower than a typical Infect deck and might as well play Thing in the Ice/Kiln Fiend and Temur Battle Rage to take advantage of all the instants/sorceries cast.
I don't see waht makes this version any better than previous versions of the deck, it has put some results by we don't know how many times it has failed and went 2-3, 1-4 or even 0-5 because onlt 5-0's are published and only a very small number of them.

This basically. Only wizards knows the true metagame now with all the hiding of the data. Who knows how many times said infect list went through a league with who knows what results before it got a 5-0 and was published. I mean, there are still people who occasionally put up not-bad results with "splinter twin" decks in modern (just with kiki instead of twin), but the deck is just as dead as infect is. Is it still playable? Absolutely! Can it still win a decent amount, especially against the right string of opponents? Of course! Is it still fun? Yes, but with some of it's old pieces banned it's slower and more susceptible to mainboard hate that makes it harder to actualize your gameplan, so maybe that makes it less fun if you don't enjoy that struggle. There have been a few twin decks that get 5-0 every now and then in leagues and also I've seen them get top 3rd in stuff like MOCS still in 2017. There's still a guy at my FNM who plays his old twin deck every now and then when he wants a break from his eldrazi & taxes.
I like to use that twin example because that was the deck I played before switching to infect. They are both still playable and can totally win matches as is proven by occasional results ... but for the same amount of money, you could get a better deck with more growth potential and more reliable results with less ability to be hated on by common mainboard cards that are now in the meta.
Wizards isn't going to print any new infect cards. We might get some goodies with spells and enchantments, but there won't be any new infect creatures likely for a decade or more. I don't think we're going to see anything like BI again in about as long too.
I think if you just love infect and can't give it up, you should just suck it up and trade for / buy FoW and Trops so you can play it in legacy ... where you also get to play probe and daze and brainstorm and ponder and berserk and invigorate, etc... It's beautiful.

And honestly if you get the 4 Force and 2 Flusters, just start playing w/Breeding Pools. That was my recent plan before I had more bills to pay and I only had $200 to drop on Magic instead of $400. Delayed that plan for later and worked on a different Modern deck instead heh. Legacy Infect is pretty awesome tho. You can always add the Trops along the way and you should be killing them before your life total matters too much.
Tezzeret's Gambit makes a lot of sense against slower decks like UW control. It provides card advantage and a poison counter for 3 mana which is a pretty good deal if the length of the game is going to be a bit longer.
I'm not sure how much I like the defiance+spellskite plan. It makes the deck a lot slower, albeit more resilient. I think I would consider sideboarding into this strategy against more interactive decks like shadow or BG/x. I still think building the maindeck for the fastest, most streamlined kills is the best thing infect can be doing.
On a positive note, I have been seeing less death's shadow decks lately. If they decline significantly, there may be enough room in the meta for infect to beat up on the big mana decks without getting wrecked by thoughtseize and fatal push.

Phyrexian Crusader is probably going to remain the "best" one.
Just to try a new direction, Im going to test this version with traverse, as soon as I get my cards in the mail.
It's a bit out there, but I'd like to try it. Any comment appreciated thanks!

might be time to start testing this as its the only version of infect putting up any results, get the hive mind pushing the list further!!!

A classic list with 4 groundswell, and it's the second time that I see tezzeret's gambit, tom ross was playing it too in the modern open.
