It gives us an option, for sure, but I’m not sure that as an Aggro deck it’s an effect we want. We need to either play threats or gain life to boost our current threats, and this does neither until later in the game. I’m going to test it as a 2-of, and report my findings. Overall, this set didn’t do much for us directly but gave us some new ideas to try.
UW Control is so hard it feels unbeatable, I'm not sure if it's worth sacrificing sideboard slots to it. The main issue with Warping Wail is that you will have to play 4x Shefet Dunes to be able to cast in a somewhat reliable way.
As far as answers go it's probably one the best ones. It's flexible, never useless and has lots of others applications...
I don't think we want to try beat UW control on the counterspell axis, we're not the kind of deck they remove their counterspells for, so we're likely losing the counter war, especially trying to fight a 1 mana miracle Terminus. I personally feel we have two viable paths to fight them on, the get in under them aggro plan if you're more a white weenie beat down plan, or the out grind them with value plan, this one is slightly harder given their card draw and card selection with things like azcanta, but not impossible. Having multiple must answer threats like Hero of Bladehold, archangel of thune or even sun titan and cards for some advantage like Ranger of eos in the matyr proc lists or Legion's Landing and Windbrisk heights in a more sisters midrange package. I've personally lightly splashed black for Lingering Souls and Sorin, Solemn Visitor for further value since I'm more on the midrange game plan.
I have been testing Dawn of Hope out recently and I have found that more often than not, I'd rather just have another creature card in hand.
It would be good in the later game if it gets drawn out so I may try to find room in the sideboard for it.
On a different note, I'm finding that Ajani's Pridemate frequently grows very large but has no way of getting to the opponent through chump blockers and deathtouch creatures. Has anyone successfully experimented with giving him evasion? Maybe Whispersilk Cloak or Passwall Adept - though that would involve splashing blue so maybe not. Any other possibilities?
The problem with making the pridemate sneaky is that your adding a card(s) that only help the pridemate and weekens the rest of the decks synergy. Best answer I found was elspeth, knight-errant to give him jump. Another thought is that you could give him protection from a color for a turn.
Yeah, Ive been running Brave the Elements in Soul Sisters for years, Im convinced you want some number of them in every meta.
I havent played the deck much for almost 2 years, but I've recently updated my list... I think we got one really good card from GRN: Conclave Tribunal. Its overperformed for me so far - way better than Oblivion Ring
Quote from Phil
Have a helicopter drop you off out front. Light your cigar with a small Indonesian boy holding a black lotus. Then bust out a craw wurm deck with no sleeves. Raw dog shuffle, loose terribly, flip the table, leave in a hovercraft.
I tend to run 2-3 BtE in my SS, have for years. As for running some type of evasion for Pridemates, I have found that a lone Rogue's Passage will help get out of a stalled boardstate.
If you’re going to try Emmara, I would go heavy Convoke and/or some Battecry effect. Chord of Calling into Archangel of Thune seems good. As does Battlecry with a ton of tokens. I’ve considered trying this, but don’t quite have the cards yet.
Does anyone here eschew the Champion of the Parish/Ajani's Pridemate/Serra Ascendent/more aggro route? What do you use as an alternate wincon? I'm eyeing the Purphoros/Impact Tremors wincon fueled by Norin, Lightning Berserker, and Genesis Chamber.
Hero of Bladehold seems pretty good in the GW version where your basically trading the tall for wide. Haven't tested it yet. I've been playing around with Sisters, Emmara, Sprout Swarm, Legion's Landing, and March. It's superb against fair decks but struggles against some combo decks/tron.
The thing about these value cards like Emmara is you don't have to overextend to build up a board. Wraths become a speed bump as opposed to game over. If you can play her and tap her on turn 2 without dorks more power to you. You can't convoke her and then convoke the token for the same spells. But Oh God: Soul Sisters + Emmara/Famished Paladin-->> Renegade Rallier-->> Glare of Subdual is insane. That's some beats.

Y’all check out this little list I came across today: Mono White Humans
It’s similar to the list that I run, except it seems to focus on protecting its creatures with Cloudshift and Brave the Elements. It’s labeled Mono White Humans, but it has 8 soul sisters. It also has no Paths!

So my LGS has no combo except for KCI and no Storm or Infect either. People play either control decks like Blue Moon, Jeskai, or UR Thing, midrange like Jund, and creature tribal like Humans or Elves. How would people approach building a Sisters list for this kind of meta? I have the Modern Event Deck cards and I can splash for either Black or Green.
Current Modern Decks BG Elves // "He's back. And he brought his friends. And their friends." BG The Rock // "Dwayne Johnson approved." RU Izzet Phoenix // "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em." UGW Bant Spirits // "Super Ghost Bros." BUG Sultai Wildnerness Teachings // "How many turns did I just take again?" C Colorless Eldrazi // "Smash you."

Cause March of the Multitudes is a really really good finisher here
Legacy: Strawberry Shortcake, Aggro Loam, DnT+b
Modern: Devoted Karn
Vintage: Survival

I do
I use Hero of Bladehold/Archangel of Thune/Chord of Calling/March of the Multitudes

My list, for reference, is here: Soul Sisters And Humans
the reason why it has no paths on it because the tourney has a 3$ cap on card price
BG Elves // "He's back. And he brought his friends. And their friends."
BG The Rock // "Dwayne Johnson approved."
RU Izzet Phoenix // "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."
