I'd love to have some matches! I run a be return to the ranks centered soul sisters deck. 3 Dark confidant and survival cache help speed, 4 divine judgement, 4 pridemate, (need path to exile),I run 3 blood artist or 3 vizkopa guildmage, 2-3 secure the wastes. I do quite well against many modern decks. Ideas, challenges welcome!
Leonin arbitor instead of suppression field? Between that and stony silence you will have slowed tron down without affecting ghost quarters, and the arbitor will help swing too.
Wrath, batterskull, and karn in your sideboard is odd. If you need to wrath, it'll likely hit you harder then them. And, have you ever gotten to the point of being able to use karn?
Arbitor is cute with Path, but I think you want Aven Mindcensor instead. Even still, Suppression Field has a lot of power against some bad matchups. Hard to argue cutting it.
Serra Ascendent in Soul Sisters is like Stormbreath Dragon in Skred.
no matter what people say about the card it still won me more games than any other card in the deck lol
I'll bet it's also indirectly caused you more losses than any other card. It's a high risk, high reward sort of thing.
It's definitely not a necessary piece in the Soul Sisters puzzle.
I've never lost a game because of Serra Ascendant. It's always playable, unlike Stormbreath, which requires 5 mana. It's the card which makes the deck good. Not playing it is like not playing Liliana in BGx.
Maybe I should have given a little bit more context. I intented to ask about the use of Serra ascendant in a deck with a Soul sisters shell but without Martyr of the sands. According to my (short) experience playing Soul sisters, the killer card has always been by far Spectral procession (even when I started using the "vanilla" Soul sisters build with 4 martys / 4 serra / 4 squadron hawk).
I feel like there is something else that we could do with all this life gain. Instead of going for the 6/6 flyer lifelink for 1 mana. I wonder if there are worthy and powerfull spells that require to pay life on top of mana that could be played instead of Serra.
My first thought is Dark Confidant, I think spectral procession is so good that paying the 6 life to get to draw it feels completely fine for me. And in most cases the fact of casting it will trigger some lifegain and hopefully even out.
In a nutshell, I want to use my lifegain the same way delve is using the graveyard: As a additional "source of mana".
That's getting to look mighty close to BW Tokens. There are some reasons BW Tokens follows a certain shell, that doesn't really allow for the Soul Sisters shell. Feel it may be watering down the best of both decks, trying to cover too many bases.
Also, splashing black for anything other than more removal (Orzhov Charm has three relevant effects) and Lingering Souls seems doesn't really answer what the deck actually struggles with.
indeed. i play soul sisters, bw tokens and norin (r/w and mardu versions) and find that it is best you do not venture too far away from the archetype or you will lose a lot of synergy once you do that.
the only token generator i use in my sisters deck is secure the wastes.

I usually end up playing Karn through Windbrisk shenanigans, but I'm looking to cut it due to lack of relevancy. Batterskull comes in against Control, but I'm probably going to cut it due to the rise of Grixis Control. Wrath of Godcomes in against Merfolk as a panic button. Since I like Suppression Field too much, I'll try out 2 Leonin Arbiter in place of Karn and Batterskull.
How do you win the mirror match? I see people posting on social media that they need Archangel of Thune for the event, so I'm expecting to see other soul sisters, as I doubt Archangel gets played anywhere else. I'm asking around for a Felidar Sovereign, but I doubt I'll be able to get one before the tournament. What is the best strategy to fight the mirror? I do have a Chalice of Life, but I have doubts that it'd do enough to even be worth a slot versus just grinding the match out. What do you guys do for the mirror with what we already pack?
Are you planning on running your decklist as is or are you looking to change it up specifically for the possibility of mirror matchups?
In a mirror, it'd be a race since neither will pack much removal. I would imagine that it'll come down to who combos off martyr/sera, drops more honor, or gets archangel out sooner. If you're not changing your deck, i would focus on just that, and also be careful with fetching anything too expensive with your windbrisk (especially since you only run 2 archangels). i'd even feint and fetch a land or spare soul sister to draw the opponents ghost quarter.
If you are looking to change it up a bit. I would throw in 1 more martyr and 1 more archangel for 2 soul sisters, 4 flagstones to thin the deck for card advantage (even an endless horizon), and consider ghostly prison.
So I'm currently home in Singapore for my summer break, and I was wondering how well this deck functions against Modern staples such as Jund, Tron, Affinity, and the various combo decks? I've been looking around for info but I haven't found much information (Or maybe I've just been looking in the wrong places). A lot of people in my area netdeck staples, so I've been trying to find some rogue brews to try and surprise em. I'm already running a Blue-Red Elemental Combo.
Any advice or information would be really appreciated. Sorry for the hassle and thanks in advance!

In the SG meta, most people net deck or play aggressive archetypes like affinity (esp since steven went into finals with one), burn/ merfolk / coco variants, tron or grixis variants.
i find sisters okay but require a lot of skill to pilot. i find norin sisters a more stable deck to pilot and it can grind out games esp against control decks.
Norin Sisters looks really interesting and I'd love to pilot it at least once sometime, but way too many people in my area play Jund or Grixis, which makes it a relatively poor matchup from what I understand. :/
I'm thinking of piloting Death & Taxes instead, although I'm keeping my mind open. Thanks so much for the reply once again!

So here's where I'm at after the weekend. Did well vs. Burn, held my own vs. Jund (although I made a fatal mistake leading to 2-1), and did not do well vs. Twin. Some thoughts led to this, including getting mana flooded, too much top decking etc. I agree with Relic being timely. I need to get some Horizon Canopy for my Abzan Company Deck, and it probably belongs here for timely card draw too. Lots of Affinity and Tron running around in my meta, though I didn't hit them this weekend.
I know Dictate of Heliod is pricey, but there are times when there was a stalemate and their sweeper changed the board, where a flashed dictate (because I was only holding one card each time or top decking with untapped mana) would have made the difference. Such as pyroclasm or Anger of the Gods which are everywhere.
I'm playing my copies of Devout Lightcaster and Mirran Crusader in my CoCo deck, but they are arguably good sideboard cards depending on meta. I like Mikaeus. Had him main, but there were some games he was like win more.
I've considered Gideon's Phalanx for my BW Tokens, but it's harder to cast and less meaningful there. Could make a good one of here?

i have a good track record against grixis.
jund i don't know but the sequencing against it should be similar.
Grixis is actually not difficult at all to beat. We either do stuff better (against Delver), negate their combo (against Twin), or are way faster (against control).
My land base is 17 Plains and 4 Windbrisk Heights. I've not felt I need land destruction at all in my local scene. I've been contemplating replacing the Plains with 15 Snow-Covered Plains and 2 Mouth of Ronom. The only cards the colourless mana hurts in my deck are Auriok Champion and Celestial Flare. In return I get another two sources of removal - not good removal, but removal nonetheless, that barely changes anything else.
Thoughts?

Current favourite flavour text: "Forgive me, Master Kami, but in the interest of my people I must halt your advance." - Hold the Line.
Lucky, so no tron/infect/affinity players in you local meta eh.
With only 2 mouth of ronom, the colourless mana won't hurt you. I play 3 ghost quarter and 2 tectonic edge (lots of tron in my neck of the woods), and only rarely have mana troubles. Maybe Rogue's passage to help the pumped ajani's swing, or Emeria, the Sky ruin since you play a enough plains.
On a similar note. Played against almost exclusively tron decks this past week... they are getting hard to beat... What do you guys think about 3-4 surgical extraction in the side board? Blow one of their urza lands up with ghost or edge, then, surgical extraction and no more tron. It's not completely useless against other matchups either, except maybe gifts or pod where there are a lot of singles.

Creature decks are a joke, and we always win. This includes Affinity, and burn.
Tron and Amulet Bloom are nigh unwinnable.
