Ensnaring Bridge comes to mind. But Ghostly Prison is cool enough.
I don't like Mesmeric Orb at all. Why no Augur of Bolas?
Mind Funeral is a 2 of. The averages speak for themselves, and would be better replaced by the sure 7mill of Mind Sculpt or Breaking for 8.
That makes sense actually. Instead of 4 Mind Funerals and 4 Memeric Orbs I will put 2 Funerals 3 Augurs and 3 Breakings. Although why not use peer through depths instead of Augur? I'm curious. Peer would get you a greater range to grab and do it instant speed but no blocker.
True. Testing my deck out on Tappedout with the Augurs instead of the Mesmeric Orbs it really helps with the consistency and it blocks a goyf so I survive one more turn yay. Since I'm also running Snapcasters that's another creature to block stuff. 2/3rds of my creatures I'm just using for the ETB effects so It's perfectly fine if hey get destroyed.
The "extra" turn you get from potentially blocking (since the low creature count if theres no crab, this is gonna take some of the saved removal in their hand) is a turn where you couldve played a card that milled. meaning in the end the result will be the same, except youre a turn later in the game. so unless youre running orbs the total effect an augur would have is whole whooping 1 mill(inform of their natural draw)+ ofc that chance if its a combo deck they will get another turn to hopefully combo off, since you didnt mill a wincon.

What do you dislike about Mesmeric Orb?
In my experience it's one of the best mill card we have. Especially, but not exclusively, against decks that go wide, e.g. Affinity.
Plus it let's you win through Leyline.
Additionally it can make the opponent do weird stuff to avoid it.
So unless your meta has 90% Jund decks with 4/4 Kolaghan's Command or similar things making the Orb worse, I don't see many issues with it.

Jace's "flashback" is sorcery speed, so you need to hope for a big punt by your opponent to make the Trap cost 0.
On any other spell it's a worse Snapcaster imo.
And in a deck with barely any (relevant) creatures, he'd probably be shot on sight anyway.

Do you not get priority to activate a planeswalker ability if you use Jace's tap ability during your opponent's turn and cause him to flip?

competetively: nodes could see slight play, but i still think theres lots of other cards that outshines it. rest are trash dont play them ever. you can get away with it once maybe cause no1 would expect it - then youre just gonna be THAT guy and everyone will know. online you could get away with it easier, but youd probably also get stomped harder.
casual: go for it. build that stuff. everyone loves the mill guy in casual games.

I only run Crabs and Augurs. Everything I try to shrug off with Fog or Crypt Incursion or some Bounce.
That seems like a good mix to try.
Selling some cards I don't want.
Generally less than tcg mid.

Explain "win through leyline"

Mesmeric orb doesn't target so it gets past leyline of sanctity. Also if you have snapcasters it fuels them as well.

disenchant, leyline, wear / tear, erase, stony silence, hide / seek, ghostly prison, hallowed moonlight.
any general hate cards that doesnt distrupt your own plan like thalia would for instance.
