Is aethervile bad in this kind of deck? if so why?
When you think of good Vial decks, you think of Legacy decks that either use Vial to flash in creatures (D&T), decks that draw tons of creatures and are able to use Vial like a ritual effect (Goblins a la Ringleader), or decks that use their lands for other things besides playing creatures (Merfolk). I don't think Vial is really well positioned right now in Modern, and especially not in this deck. Maybe if there was a Goblin Ringleader in the format to fill your hand up with creatures, but even then things like Dragon's Fodder and Krenko's Command would be a nombo despite being very good in the deck, for me anyways.

One of these day I have to get myself organizized.
so, I am working on a different type of list, less blazing fast, more, slightly less blazing, still very fast, more lords for a longer game, another aggro. it is not even worth sharing here yet, I still need some stuff, but there is one small problem. the lords don' do squat about board wipes, just like burn basically, except with goblins it isn't that they gain life, just wipe the board and play something big. Is there a decent answer to wipes or is it just hope they don't happen? I think i would pull t4-5 wins, but the wipe can come down right at the point when I am doing the last bit of damage

Any suggestions as to sideboard or mainboard? It starts at 6 so any suggestions would be helpful! I expect to see delver, pod, UWR control, maybe zoo, and scapeshift.
Before i forget, the reason i don't run bloodmoon is because of my mana base.

One thing would be to add another Bloodstained Mire, a singleton Swamp, and a couple of Blood Moons. Also, you can think about Rain of Gore vs. Pod, and Spellskite is excellent vs Delver and control decks, both in sideboard ofc. Mogg Fanatic is MVP against Pod and Delvers, since it kills mana dorks in Pod and every creature in Delver, so maybe change it for Sudden Shocks? It's also a Goblin, so it gains the buff from Chieftain, adds a token with Krenko, and triggers Foundry when played, in addition of playing the role of a soft but instant-speed 1cmc hasty removal.
I myself like to use Dreadbore as well, just in case
Here's my report for my LGS's Modern night on Saturday.
Round 1: UR Storm 1-2 (Lost)
This was a typical storm deck, with 3 grapeshots mainboard, which i felt a little strange. I mean, wouldn't you want more draw and can trips? Anyway i lost so he knew what he was doing. Both times he won were turn 3-4 losses.
Game 1: My hand contains foundry, loyalist, spike jester, bloodstained mire, cavern, mountain, bolt. I keep not knowing what hes playing. It goes from there i get him down to 1 life and he goes off on turn 3.
Game 2: My first draw was my all my sideboard cards plus a basic mountain. I laugh and mull. I believe it was something crasy like denizen, chief, 2 lands and a spike jester. I draw a rabble master, he attempts to go off. Fails, wipes my board with rabble, denizen, guide, and jester on the field leaving 1 token. I draw into a bolt and a land, he doesn't have anything. I tick him down by turn 5.
Game 3: Same thing as round 1, i get him down to 1 life on turn 3, he goes on off on his turn 4. I made a mistake with rakdos charm, i should have hit his yard the second his past in flames hit the yard, either way it was my bad.
All in all, storm is just a bad match up
Round 2: Burn 2-1 (win)
It was a typical burn deck with a twist. She was running Eidolon of the Great Revel. That was unexpected.
Game 1: It was pretty straight forward, I have a wicked hand (from what i remember), we both race, i end up winning with 1 life.
Sideboard: I didn't really sideboard much, -2 sudden shock, +2 magma spray.
Game 2: It was a close game, she has like 2-3 bolts and lava spikes. I get her down to 7-8 by turn 3. She casts that creature. Most of my hand is 1-3 casting drops. I try to race her more but fail to do so.
Game 3: I have another wicked hand, denizen, guide, loyalist, jester, 2 lands, bolt. She plays that creature by turn 3, bolt him. I race her out living with only 1 health.
Round 3: Mill 2-0 (Win)
This was a scary round because my first legacy deck was mill so i'm well aware of the potential of the deck. But there wasn't much to it because if you have the right hand against mill, they can take all the cards they want.
Game 1: I burn him out pretty quick, he mills half my deck. before i kill him by turn 4.
Sideboard: -2 Sudden Shock, -1 Krenko +3 Duresss
Game 2: I didn't need the sideboard. I burn him out the same fashion as i did before. Turn 4 kill with the power of the bush whacker and a punch of 1 drops.
Round 4: BWR Control 2-1 (Win)
According to this guy this deck top15 recently at a GP? He's running board wipes with ***s and anger of the gods. He's also running the new Sorin, and using lingering souls plus man lands.
Game 1: I kill by turn 6 i believe. He wiped my board twice with a *** and a Anger of the Gods. But my top decks are amazing, ranging from bolts and spike jesters. I get him down quick.
Sideboard: -2 sudden shock, +2 Skullcrack
Game 2: Its a very close game, hes gaining life with sorin on the board, hes got his BR man land. Hes making token's, he never wipes my board but i can't play enough to get around his lifesteal. Even playing a skullcrack preventing him from gaining life. His control was online. He swings in with too much and i can't defend.
Game 3: My hand is nuts. 2 Guides, 2 mountains, spike jester, chieftain, and a bolt. My first draw was a guide. By turn 3 its 3 guides, and a chieftain. He helix's my chieftain. Turn 4 i draw another bolt. He ***s my board on his turn 4 and i double bolt him for the win.
He deck was a tough match but i played around it. Skullcracks were huge, but i think Treachtv's Suggestion of Rain of Gore would be much better.
I'm 3-1 at this point going into the final round. If i finish 4 and 1, that would be awesome for my first modern night. But than the next deck, its just brutal.
Round 5 BWG Rock? 0-2 (Lost)
Either way this match is a nightmare for us. Siege Rhino, goyfs, Courser of Kruphix, abrupt decay. Just a paddling in my opinion.
Game 1: He runs me over with goyfs and rhino's. Plays that courser i just can't get past them. Never see my mb rakdos charm to deal with his goyfs. Its a difficult first round. By turn 6, i did manage to get him down to 2 life and kill his creatures. But siege rhino is a monster in this game. My krenko kept me alive until turn 7, it was a hell of a match.
Sideboard: I made a playing mistake not siding in my skullcracks. I wasn't really thinking about it at the time. -2 Sudden Shock +2 Terminate
Game 2: i storm him fast, by turn 4 he is down to 1 and he casts Timely Reinforcements. I get down to 1 life again, he casts Timely Reinforcements. By this point he just starts casting his big boys and i just can't keep up.
I finish 3-2 and come in 9th out of 18 people. I am comfortable where the deck is atm, at this point in time i will be bringing in some changes. I have thought about them already, heres my updated list:
I feel that rain of gore would have helped me a lot vs life gain. I also feel that boil is probably the best choice against a long control match. Also, mogg fanatics was a great idea. My biggest concern is that rock deck. What is our answer to that rock deck? Just try to out run them? I feel that rakdos charm and terminate helps, rain of gore for siege rhino. I'm just curious as to what else.
maybe frenzied goblin? it is quite good in standard now. they may be big sized creatures, but they have fewer creatures than us, therefore frenzied goblin might be able to sidestep them.
Its a good idea but it only just stops it from blocking. I'm thinking that maybe stingscourger could start making some appearances soon. Idk if its really that needed in this current meta

you definitely should not use stingscourger against siege rhino. the come into play effect is not to our favour. morever, if we overrun them, who cares if it attack for 4 when i am swinging him for 4 and above damage?
Usefulness of Stingscourger comes down to the role you chose for him. I believe he is best used when hitting for lethal and bouncing a critical blocker out of the way. With kickered bushwhacker or Chieftain in play, it gets even better. Goblin Grenade helps a bit as well, especially when there is no haste. However, the moment you have to use Stingscourger to stall the game, it usually doesn't go in our favor. I started my "modern goblin career" with one Stingscourger in my main board, then decided to move it to the sideboard. Soon, I removed it altogether. I loved them on occasions, but one is just not enough to get the effect over many games, and more of them seems like a waste of the card slots.
I think that Mogg Fanatic and Spellskite are two of the strongest cards available for our sideboard. Hack, with all the Delvers and Pods around, I usually run fanatics in mainboard. He is also good against Ascendancy combo. Combust is another card that comes in handy against Rhino if you don't have any slots for targeted removal, since it's almost essential vs. Twin and many wield it, although there are less twin decks around these days.
Speaking of Rhino, there are two problems; first, he gives life, and we all know how we feel about that. Secondly, he is a huge body, ready to block and kill any creature we have. In my experience, preventing that heal is less important than hitting the opponent in his face with our creatures, especially in case of Rhino, therefore I prefer either Terminate (or any other destroy card in my RB aggro goblins) or Stingscourger over Skullcrack or Rain of Gore. I might be wrong here, but almost all games I won against Pod and Junk was when I out-paced them by destroying (Rhino, Ooze, Goyf) or exiling (finks) a specific creature at the right moment and swinging + burning for lethal. Still, I think that whatever cards we choose, this may not be the best time for aggro goblins in modern.
My idea, if you read correctly, was not to bounce rhino, but to bounce goyf or ooze. It was an idea but i do agree, i used him in the beginning, and found it was just better in legacy. I have to disagree with "not a good time in modern for gobos" comment however. I feel that no one wants to play any sort of aggro because of delver coming up strong and sideboard options being strong against us. I gotta be honest, gobos should have no issue with delver, especially the BR version. We have a great hate for that deck, and most decks in the format. Pod is an issue, but lifegain is huge. To be honest, adding in rain of gore or combust against Junk or Pod is a great idea, and see thats my point. If we have the option to stop them why don't we continue to test this factor. Heck, if i had a more solid play group for testing i would most definitely try them out more often, however i do not. I would start playing MTGO but playing online and in real life is very costly in my opinion.
Rain of gore is also good soul sisters, which is still a very real deck. But in the end, what are we missing here? We got a new gobo with khans which actually brought this deck off the shelf again. Delver is still scary, but we have the answers to that, as well as combo (which is probably the worst match up). What are the decks that threaten us most? Tron of course, any sort of control, Junk, and combo. What are the answers to those? Combust for twin combo and pod, grafdigger's cage if we really need it (fits into our CC range and doesn't affect us). Shattering Spree, Smash to Smithereens or Rakdos Charm for affinity/tron. For Scapeshift we have options when we splash black like Shadow of Doubt, Thoughtseize, Duress and Earwig Squad.
We have a lot of answers, i guess its just up to one of us to make results.

Here's a lightning fast version of the old Scars Kuldotha Goblins deck I've been working on. I can consistently get turn 2-4 wins with this deck. I love the reach it has in both Goblin Grenade AND Shrapnel Blast. Usually a good turn one is Memnite/Ornithopter, sac for Rebirth, T2 Bushwhacker swing for 8, then turn 3 you you can proceed to burn them out get more beats in. With the manabases in Modern most decks help you tremendously as well. Three color decks like to kill themselves for you.

They call me Hank Hill because I bring the pro-pain.

Well, if nobody wants to play aggro because of delver and strong sideboard against us, why is this a good time for goblins? It's not the delvers, it's the hate, he he Anyhow, I believe this will change soon, and even if it doesn't, it's not like it means that goblins are unplayable. We can still win games for sure, but it's harder. Maybe it is just my local meta with a lot of Delvers and therefore delver hate. Since switching to RB Vial goblins, I have yet to lose vs Delver - and UR Delver itself is not why we have a tough time, it's because everybody runs sweepers and life gain against Delver aggro, and that affects us as well.
I find Pod and Zoo decks to be the toughest match-up's for me, followed by Junk/Jund and affinity. Combo decks can be off-the-charts as well, it all comes down to starting hand and topdeck - usually, if I don't win fast or play Blood Moon, they take the game. Against control decks, I try to rely on Cavern of Souls and Spellskite, but it can get tough even with both on board. Tron is, at least from my experience, one of the easiest match-ups for us. Maybe I got lucky many times, but I lost only one best-of-three vs tron, and that was when I had no lands. They just can't keep up with the damage and board presence until it's too late. Burn is a race, sometimes we win, sometimes we lose, depending on the draw, who goes first, and if there is any lifegain (claw, lightning helix). I have yet to play boogles, soul sisters or Martyr - Proc, but I believe they are all hard match-ups as well.
I thought about Rain of Gore and started to buy them a month ago but don't have enough copies to play and test them yet, so can't really comment, but it could be strong against life decks, especially in RB Vial goblins since it's more of a midrange deck than the aggro variety. Anyhow, if anyone has any experience with Rain of Gore, now would be a good time to share
Testing online, I've yet to lose a match to Junk or Jund. Eighty-five percent against Delver. I'm sixty percent against Pod. I crushed U Tron when I played against it twice, but have yet to see RG. The worst matchups have been Twin and UWR while being fifty percent against Scapeshift (Blood Moon can be a beating), Burn and Affinity.
Does anyone run Pithing Needle in the board? It seemed like a legit idea, but every time I see it I don't love it. I could imagine liking Rain of Gore in certain matches. I'm also curious what people bring in against Pod and UWR? Also what do you take out of your decks most often? I tend to take out my token generating sorceries, Mogg Fanatic, and Bolts first.
Also Goblin King. I run a single Rabblemaster in the main and he just seems win more, dying too often and too quickly to make a difference. Control decks run bolts and don't simply rely on Wraths unlike in Standard. But Goblin King, however, pumps like Chieftain, which can be great against Forked Bolt and Electrolyze, while making your idiots unblockable against Young Pyromancer tokens, but also Restoration Angel, Snapcasters, Tarmogoyfs in RUG Delver, and maybe against Kiki Pod. I want to try him as a one-of.

One of these day I have to get myself organizized.
I really like Goblin King, and in addition to all that you have said, there is this great synergy with Blood Moon as well. I'm using one these days (albeit in RB Vial Goblins), but am considering to add another copy, at least to my sideboard. The lack of haste hurts, but I believe it's worth it if you can find the slots, as long as 4 chieftains remain in the deck.
Pithing Needle seems decent against combo decks and Pod, but I usually just try to race combo (or disrupt them), and versus Pod, I would prefer Grafdigger's Cage. Another strong card vs Pod is Pillar of Flame, easy to cast, does well with finks and voice, and can target face.
People could you help me with my 60's? I have the 52 base cards of the deck, and want suggestions for the other 8. The popular decks here are, surprisingly, Mono W Soldiers (DAMN YOU FIRST STRIKERS), Combo Elves, Mono B Devotion and, less surprisingly, UWR Control. What could I put in these 8 slots for the deck to play better in these matchups, and increase the deck power level?
you can try mogg fanatic and spikeshot elder for extra reacher against those deck. I am not sure about the black devotion matchup though. blood moon works well against UWR control. you can add blood moon and goblin kingfor evation and mana denial though.
Mogg Fanatic is good in the deck. I don't know why it would be weird with War Marshal. Especially if that White Weenie deck has 2/1s. And against Combo Elves I imagine.
I would also add some number of Shared Animosity. I like 3, but two could be enough, but ultimately it is just really good to curve into to set up a turn 4 win. I would say two Mogg Fanatic, two Shared Animosity, and four Krenko's Command. The latter works well with Foundry Street Denizen, Bushwhacker, Animosity, Chieftain.
You should be able to just overrun Mono-Black Devotion. Play around sweepers. Maybe bring in Goblin King out of the board to try and pump your guys out of Drown in Sorrow range. King would also do well against UWR, making Electrolyze worse and your dudes unblockable. Other sideboard options would be Blood Moon for UWR, Searing Blood perhaps against Elves and Soldiers, and maybe another Mogg Fanatic if he turns out to be good. I sideboard an extra one if I expect Delver decks.

18 Mountain
2 Cavern of Souls
4 Foundry Street Denizen
4 Goblin Guide
4 Legion Loyalist
4 Goblin Bushwhacker
4 Mogg War Marshal
4 Goblin Chieftain
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Goblin Grenade
PS: I want to keep the deck Mono R.
